Free agency

With free agency less than an hour away and the last time we'll probably ever have a salary capped season, who should the rams target? There are alot of guys who can help this team out, the question is do would they get any offers from the FO and would they even want to play for us! Anquan Bolden can easily be a ram for as low as a 3rd round pick! Somebody needs to call Devaney and company and get him on our team ASAP especially if they are thinking about drafting a QB with the 1st round pick!!! Can't wait to see what moves we make but I'm feeling realistic in thinking we won't get any big name free agents.... Hope I'm wrong Go Rams

Free Agency

I have a feeling you are right revrue about free agency. If the Rams picked up Boldin or any other big name free agent I would be shocked. It would be a good shock but I just can’t see them doing it. Sounds too good to be true. I think they will pick up some guys but it will probably be more for depth at certain positions than to get some actual starting talent. I’m hoping we can give our defense a big boost and either grab a good CB,DE,or OLB. If we can sign a solid starter in any of those positions I would be happy. Of course grabbing a #1 WR would be awesome but due to the uncapped year and the way a majority of WR’s were kept as unrestricted FA’s I just don’t think it will happen. I hope I’m wrong as well and I hope to see some good action by the Rams to fill some holes and create some excitement for the upcoming season

No

Why would you trade a 3rd rounder for someone who won’t make that much of a difference and who will be 30 years old. Just no, you can’t do that while rebuilding.
And what does this mean?:

the last time we’ll probably ever have a salary capped season,

First of all, its not a capped season, and why is it probable that we’ll never have a capped year again? There has been nothing to suggest that that is the most likely thing to happen. The cap is likely to return next season. I don’t think many FAs will want to sign with us this year, but we’ll probably get a 2 or 3 guys who aren’t off other teams practice squads. Hearin a lot of signing rumors in the first hour, and none of them have the Rams getting anybody big.

There have been some statements made by some of the Espn guys that since we are going into a non capped year then there is no way we woul go back to one. And I have to agree and don’t see the league going back to a salary cap.

As for free agency, I feel like when teams are aggressive it at least gives their fans some hype on the NFL’s version of “Black Friday”. Alot of what determines how a teams seaso ends up has alot to do with the moves they make in the off season. Whether it’s by letting some of their own guys go, free agency, trades, or the draft. A team like the Rams needs to be counting down the minutes prior to the opening of free agency and have some scheduled visits straight out the gate! We have too many holes to sit and wait to see who may be left over as other teams try to sign the top tier guys!

I don’t know who the Rams are targeting but they better make an impact through free agency or else we’re still a 5 win team at best!!! It sickens me when I watch Espn or read articles that are saying that the seahawks are scheduling a meeting with Aaron Kampan and that they have 2 1st round picks in the draft and there’s no noise or even a mention on what the rams are trying to do!

Maybe I’m getting ahead of myself since the free agency market has only been open a couple of hours, IM JUST SICK AND TIRED OF BEING THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE LEAGUE AND IM TIRES OF LOSING!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I wish the Rams would make a run at Kampman.

I don’t like hearing that he’s talking with Seattle. There are some decent players out there in free agency and I don’t understand why the Rams aren’t going after any of them, as far as we know. There still could be a couple of guys they are after and they just haven’t said anything about it. They seem to like to play everything close to the vest, but it drives us crazy.

Do you really think that Arizona would trade Boldin to us?

They are not going to let him come to a division rival and hurt them twice a year. They will take less of a pick from someone else than let him come to the Lou. Don’t get your hopes up on that one.

Record 0-1

We’ll see how this free agent period – and draft – end up, but the first day starts with a loss. The Rams are now 0-1 to start the offseason.

Why does filling a need like back up QB go in the loss column? It was a need, they filled it.

That’s what they are supposed to do.

I think they would’ve offered Sproles a deal on the visit he was scheduled to make to St. Lou but San Diego got smart and tendered him before he could get on the plane. I think the Rams were doing the right thing by bringing him in.

ditto

As long as Feeley is the backup QB, then there isn’t a problem here. Sign your backup, and make your move to either get your starter, or keep the one you have….

The Rams do need to make a move on the defense though, adding another solid starter really is a need that will definitely help clear up the draft situation.

So every team that doesn't sign a guy on day 1 starts out 0-1?

You’re being pessimistic. Are you one of those guys that thinks the season is over if you lose week 1?

Only five players have averaged 25 and 10 in their playoff careers. One of them, Dirk Nowitzki.
