Random Ramsdom, 3/26: March madness, NFL style
Lunch time leaving you hungry...hungry for more St. Louis Rams talk? Well, how about a heaping helping of greasy, delicious Random Ramsdom to keep your motor humming into the weekend?
2010 SB Nation NFL Mock Draft: Round 1, Pick 6 - With the sixth overall pick in the 2010 SB Nation NFL Mock Draft, the Seattle Seahawks select...a surprise! This is why I love mock drafts, this pick makes absolutely no sense upon first glance, but then you read the reasoning offered by the author, who doesn't like the pick himself.
Eagles want top 42 for McNabb - The Eagles want big compensation to start the Kevin Kolb era, and of all the teams, McNabb would prefer the Vikings. Oh how I would love to see the Vikings get McNabb and let Favre take his Lazarus act somewhere else.
Bears DE Alex Brown available? - Greg Olsen might not be on the block right now, but DE Alex Brown is. It's likely that Chicago would release him with no takers given his contract situation. He's 30, but had five sacks last year and 16 in his last three seasons. Might be an interesting player to kick the tires on...or he might be overkill with James Hall and Victor Adeyanju in the mix already.
Lions thinking Trent Williams at 2? - Trent Williams is to Jason Smith as Russell Okung is to Eugene Monroe...or at least that's one take on the top OTs in this draft.
Gronkowski denies reports of further back injury - Arizona TE Rob Gronkowski ranks right up there with Jermaine Gresham as the top TEs in the draft this year...when healthy. Both players missed the 2009 season, and now come whispers from Mike Mayock that Gronkowski's back may be much more serious than thought to be. Gronkowski denies it.
Steelers could have interest in bringing Parker back - Parker recently visited with the Rams.

An interesting line in that Trent Williams link
Last year, the tackle many scouts felt was safest — Virginia’s Eugene Monroe — “fell” to Jacksonville and 8th pick. The tackle scouts felt had the most upside — Baylor’s Jason Smith — went to the Rams with the second overall pick.
There’s been some debate on here about safe vs. upside, which do you want, etc. Sometimes when people make projections they fail to look at history for reference. Then again, I don’t know shit about Devaney’s thought process or intentions, other than I think he’s doing a great job at staffing higher priority positions with higher picks and higher $ FA signings.
The blind stares of a million pairs of eyes, lookin hard but won't realize, that they'll never see the C. And when I'm rollin by, you can't see me!
It's entirely possible that Devaney saw Jason Smith as also the safest OT pick.
Just because “many scouts” felt Monroe was safer doesn’t mean Devaney did.

how did monroe do last year?
didnt really follow him much. I know that Jax picked up another tackle in the 2nd round and I remember being really pissed because I wanted Sanchez and felt we could have gotten a good tackle in the 2nd. Oh well
