Random Ramsdom 3/24
- Billy Devaney meets with Sam Bradford's agent, Tom Condon. Overtures about the first pick? Maybe.
- In case you missed it, James Hall is back with the team.
- A very critical look at last year's draft class.
- Looks like Stan Kroenke is unlikely to be the next owner of the Rams.
- Spags hangs out with his former cronies from Philly on the golf course.
Not much going on this morning in Ramsdom. In any case, have a good Wednesday and GO RAMS.

its funny that stan kroenke is the owner of two of my favorite teams
the rams and the Denver Nuggets. That Kroenke is a cheap piece of s*** btw. He’s all about the numbers and not about the sport. The Rams need an owner that is concerned about the franchise as well, not just his profits.
I'm not sure about the draft guy
I can’t agree about the draft. Not a lot of low picks become high impact players. They got production out of their first four picks. Their 6th started a couple games at QB. Their 7th saw the field and got a couple carries. Their 3rd looked like a starter.
Joshua Lobdell, whoever that is, is without a clue
I think, just my opinion, JSmith and JLaurinaitis are going to be stars. JL already is if you care about a little thing like solo tackles. I’ll take 2 stars over 4 starters in any draft.
My impression is Josh didn’t see Darell Scott play and has no idea that he contributed in the rotation for a Rams team that was actually not even below average in run stopping. A 4th round rook who can get playing time on the average NFL team (average in the run stopping sense, anyway) is not a disappointing pick.

He also doesn't seem to realize
Bradley Fletcher was starting at CB and probably was our best CB while he was out there before his injury.
Made me wonder if he ever saw them play. Or knows what part of the country they're in.

Are the Rams bluffing?
Is the Rams FO trying to F-Bomb with the Skins, Browns, and Hawks? Possibly get them nervous and have them trade up for Bradford?
They are doing a great job, even I am confused. However, if the surgery is unsuccessful, they will not have any leverage.
You have a better chance at winning a lottery
than this surgery being less than 100%. The surgery itself is simple, the rehab makes the difference. 98% of the time the injured shoulder is better than it was before the surgery, again rehab.
the rehab makes the difference, but there’s also a dependancy on the injury.
I think Bradford will be fine. I bet you won’t even be able to tell he was ever hurt.
I honestly don’t think any surgery or surgeon will make any part of you as good as new though. I have pretty extensive experience at this, and I think you do too, right? You really believe that it’ll be as good as it was pre-injury?

The other interesting part is
that the doctors have already said they have never had anyone with this injury and this surgery have a recurrence of the injury. Maybe in that sense it is better than before?
from personal experience, I don't believe so
Unless it’s a serious birth defect, and then it’s kind of a different question.
Sure, I can see how the injury doesn’t recur (is this an uncommon injury to begin with? I’m not sure). I had a complete reconstruction of both of my shoulders. My right shoulder has never recurred. It’s far from good as before, and never approached better than new.
I know his was less severe than that, and I can see how maybe someone doesn’t play any differently after his kind of injury/surgery/rehab. No-recurrance and playing ok are not the same as better than before.
I say this confidently for 2 reasons, one is because I have consulted with literally dozens of doctors about surgery (including shoulder) and that’s what 100% of them told me. To a man, every single one of them told me this, and not just about the shoulder but all the surgeries.
And the other reason I say that is because I found out (as a consumer in the surgical marketplace, if you will) the test of whether it was better than before is not recurrance but whether you avoid any problems for the expected life of the body part. I think the chance of that is just about zero. One day, he will have problems….whether it’s a build up of scar tissue that needs cleaning out in 10 years, or 20…..whether it’s the arthritis that is more likely to come at an early age after surgery….maybe it’s just more pain as he ages. Think of it like a draft pick, it takes years to grade.
In the meantime, he might be able to play without noticing any difference and that’s all that really matters.
My wife has had more than a dozen surgeries, all soft tissue type. I have had 2 complete reconstructions and a major back surgery. I have yet to find any doctor who says any surgery will make anything better than new, and believe me we asked a lot of Docs for opinions over the years.

Devil's advocate
What happens if he gets the shoulder re-injured though? Hmm… Sound familiar. It should. The last Rams starter (Mark Bulger) had his shoulder re-injured. Since the re-injury, he has thrown tentatively. I guess this is my concern, and I believe it to be genuine.
I don’t want to see another Chris Chandelier v2.0 to line-up behind Brown. I have to agree with those who prefer Clausen over Bradford on this line of reasoning alone.
Did Bulger have the same injury and the same surgery as Bradford?
I don’t think so. Not all shoulder injuries are the same. And the doctors all say Bradford’s type of injury never recurs after surgery. As to throwing tentatively, I’m sure they will be watching that very closely on the 29th. If there is any sign of throwing tentatively I suspect the Rams will say “Nice to meet you. Have a good life.” and move on. Let’s give the front office a little credit for knowing what they are doing.
