Bradford vs Josh Freeman... and Suh
Tampa Bay drafted Josh Freeman at #17 in 2009.
Yet, in every mock draft out there, it is never considered a possibility that the Bucs might select Sam Bradford at #4 this year. So the #1 pick in 2010 wouldn't be significantly better than 2009's #17 ???
Doesn't it tell that the Bucs have it pretty good since they spent only a #17 to find their Franchise QB while we HAVE to spend a #1 overall ?!?!?
Meanwhile, I am yet to read about a team for which it would be considered a boneheaded move to pick Ndamukong Suh AT ANY SPOT.
It seems that the Rams are the only team that should think twice before taking Suh...
I say when a player is susceptible to be picked by almost everybody in the first round, YOU TAKE HIM !!!
Their loss is your gain.

they already have too much money invested in freeman
first round QB’s are expensive. You would think that money shouldn’t matter in selecting talent, but it is undeniable that they do factor in, ESPECIALLY considering it is the Tampa Bay Bucs, who are owned by the Glazers, who also own Manchester United. Last I checked, the Glazers were in a terrible financial situation, which seriously handicapped both teams in terms of spending. There is no way that Tampa Bay can afford two first round QB’s.
No offense
But that is a week argument. I highly doubt there has ever been a team that has drafted first round QBs back to back. The only way I see that ever could happen is if there is a coaching and GM change.
It is milk it may be spilled it may be delicious.
Weak argument or not
I think it is bad management to have your choices dictated by circumstances.
And when TBay decided to take Freeman at #17 last year, was it a mistake ?
What if they had chosen to wait for the 2010 draft to have a shot at Bradford, Clausen or McCoy ? Would they have been in a better situation sitting at #3 today with the opportunity to chose Bradford or Clausen ? Is Freeman a better prospect than Bradford and Clausen ?
OK
Your choices are always going to be dictated by circumstances.
I don’t think you can answer that question with only 10 NFL starts in a rookie season on a bad team.
Now you are just dealing in hypotheticals. Bradford and Clausen are both underclassmen. What if they don’t come out. Why would a team pass on a QB that they like, to have a chance at a QB that might not even be in the 2010 draft. And how do you know what pick they would have if Freeman didn’t play QB for them last year?
It is milk it may be spilled it may be delicious.
Don't forget...
…that if Sam Bradford had come out last year, he likely would’ve gone #1 overall to the Lions. He was projected as better than Stafford, Sanchez AND Freeman. Freeman wasn’t graded as high then as Bradford is now.
If Bradford had come out last year, he wouldn't have an injury history
I know it’s only a shoulder. It’s not as bad as Brees’ was. It wouldn’t have been hurt so bad if he hadn’t come back too early? Or would it have? I don’t care what kind of medical reputation one has one can’t say that for sure or for any believable percentage of probability. What has gotten us into this situation has been bad drafting more than anything. You can’t blame bad drafting and continue to take chances on injured players. I’m sure Bradford will be a very productive and possibly a pro-bowler. But are we in a position to take that chance. I used to think there were 2 lines of thinking, one that wants Suh, and one that wants Bradford. It’s actually one that wants a QB with the first pick in this draft and one that doesn’t. This makes it hard to argue for not getting one but for one problem, Ndamukong Suh. I wish I hadn’t seen as much film on him as I have.
I dont know if Bradford would have gone before Stafford
but it is debatable – they would have been top 2 off the board. I do think that Bradford’s announcement to go back to OK prompted Sanchez entering. If Sam came out last year – I think Sanchez returns to school to be #1 QB this year. As it was he saw a chance to be in top 2 discussion and made call to declare.
Free Brandon Wood!
Has anybody heard the rumours that...
The browns want to trade up to get Bradford?
How likely is this?
I heard that Holmgren likes Bradford
and would consider trading up if the right opportunity presented itself. I heard this on moving the chains, on NFL radio.
I've heard it also.
The Browns like Bradford and would like to trade up if we don’t take him. They won’t trade up to get Clausen, however.
haha
where is the love for clausen? that guy is going to surprise everybody, he’s so underrated it’s ridiculous lol. but yeah, i heard holmgren is interested in bradford too and would trade up to the 3rd or 4th to get him. but if the redskins want bradford then they won’t trade and the bucs would never trade because they have a huge need at defensive tackle and the 3rd pick gives them a very good chance to get suh or mccoy so i doubt it will happen.
I'll beat them to it: I'm telling you so now
Not waiting for it to happen.
The blind stares of a million pairs of eyes, lookin hard but won't realize, that they'll never see the C. And when I'm rollin by, you can't see me!
