Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

So, one PD columnist says the Rams are going after McNabb, and another says Vick...then Vick himself weighs in.

It's good to be Kevin Kolb right now.

Unbelievable!!!

His first interview is on a radio station called Gangsta Grillz. He says he wants to play for Carolina because it’s close to home and “he likes their uniforms”. And his agent is demanding a long term contract in the neighborhood of $5-6 million per year.

This guy clearly hasn’t grown up yet. All the talk about how he has matured since going to jail is just baloney. Why would anyone want the Rams to trade for this clown?

DOES THAN MEAN HE HASNT CHANGED

Dont knock the man because he has a different life culture than yourself. If he doesnt dog fight anymore thats what should matter. Whats wrong with liking their uniforms, whats wrong with wanting to be close to home ? Would you prefer him go on Rush Limbaugh’s radio show? Would that make him mature enough? What does any of this has to do with him making the Rams better than a 1-15 team ? Is he working out – YES. Do I believe he can help the Rams – YES. Im not worried about what radio show he goes on or who uni’s he likes. BUT CAN HE STILL PLAY IS WHAT MATTERS. And I think he can. Andyrose I think your the one that needs to MATURE and be more OPEN MINDED.

You shouldn't be making decisions on how the uniforms look.

If that were the case, everyone would want to play for the Chargers in their powder blues.

Choosing a team based on their uniforms,

going on Gangsta Grillz as his first radio interview while trying to convince everyone he’s a changed and more mature man, and demanding a high cost long term contract when he hasn’t played seriously for three years shows me he doesn’t make good decisions and is still immature. If he could still play at the level he did during his best years, I think he would have played more for the Eagles. Why would we trade away good draft picks for a guy when we don’t know if he can play effectively and we have no evidence he has grown up?

No, I don’t think he should go on Rush Limbaugh and you’re asking if that’s what I would want shows you are making big assumptions about me based solely on the fact that I don’t agree with you. That’s a pretty weak and unnecessary stance. If you think he can still do the job and is now a more mature man, show us the evidence.

THE NAME

Of a radio show he goes on doesn’t make him mature or not. That’s all I’m saying. If you believe he can’t help us win , that’s fine , you have your reasons. But if the reasons you stated earlier are the reasons you believe he hasn’t matured past dog fighting or as a man then that’s unnecassary.

I'm with Rams Man on this one...

What does the name of the radio show have to do with maturity? I for one listen to the DJ of that radio show and even have a couple of his albums. Does that make me any less mature than anyone else? No. Like he mentioned earlier, would he have been better suited to go on the Rush Limbaugh show? Or maybe if he did an interview with Bill O’ Reilly on the O’Rielly factor, that would make him much more mature. Right? Get a life. He’s black and he did an interview with people HE relates to. Just like he has a show on BET, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that he’s black and has a show on BET.

And I’m pretty sure he didn’t say the only reason he wanted to play for Carolina was for the jerseys. He probably threw that in there like…“oh yeah, they have nice jerseys too.” Quit being overly critical and let the man live his life.

On this team, we are all united in a common goal: to keep my job.

I didn't hear Andy bring up race

The term Gangsta brings up a valid maturity issue, without referring to being black. I didn’t know the guy on Gangsta Grillz was black until you brought it up. Andys point was about maturity in a position that requires maturity. I’ve postured for Vick here before and still wouldn’t mind seeing him in a Rams uniform, but Andy didn’t knock Vick for his culture, he addressed a characteristic Vick needs to show to be considered for the job. Nothing overly critical about that.
Why bring up Rush Limbaugh or Bill O’Reilly? Who’s doing the profiling now? It seems like you’re being oversensitive, and responding in ways that aren’t very constructive. As near as I can tell, you’re the only one who coincides this with his being black and having a show on BET, you need to leave race outta this.

Jerry Springer occassionally has white guys who claim to be "gangsta"

Jerry Springer. I think that says all you need to know about those guys.

Just to clarify that...

I only meant there are white guys who want to be associated with the gangsta culture.

I’m not weighing in on Vick, or any of the other stuff
