Another big trade that the Rams had no part in.

The Browns traded their former 1st round QB Brady Quinn (one that they gave up so much for to get back in the 1st) to Denver for two future (2011, 2012) 6th round picks and a back up RB Peyton Hillis.   This followed the signing of both Seneca Wallace and Jake Delhome.   Not sure that it makes all that much sense considering what Holgrem was able to get back for such a young QB.  Now, I'm not saying that I thought the Rams should have gone after Quinn, but for that price i would have definitely been interested.  Trades are happening and it really looks like GM's are willing to take a bit less this year to make roster changes/improvements.  I just wish that the Rams would be a bit more involved in pursuing such trades!

A possibility

ESPN noted that this move shows that Holmgren is really looking to getting his franchise QB this draft, and maybe this means the Rams can then move down to the seven spot in the draft, pick up an extra pick or so, and then look to get a couple good players. Although this is still a long shot as it then causes the Rams to lose out on the elite DTs and QBs in the draft, assuming that Washington would then take the other QB option at number 4.

Just a thought though.

Quinn is no good

I would rather they go after Wallace, a good athlete

by riotmute on Mar 14, 2010 6:07 PM CDT reply actions

I wouldn't want any of those qb's

Seneca Wallace? True he is a good athlete but so was Tony Banks and we all remember how that experiment ended. Brady Quinn will have a tough time being good again. A qb’s confidence is probably one of the most important reasons for his success. He had that at Notre Dame but you can tell that the pressure of being the franchise qb and then having the bad games that all rookie qb’s go through has taken its toll on him. Then add that your head coach pulls you then starts you and then pulls you again. Unless he gets that confidence back he will continue to struggle Although with his new WRs being 100 times better than Clevelands it will help a lot. And getting Jake Delhomme is like getting another Bulger. No confidence either and a couple of years past his prime. We have to get a QB via the draft unless we trade for one that hopefully is still in his prime. Unfortunately teams don’t tarde QB’s in their prime very often and if they did the Rams would stand by and watch another team get him for pennies on the dollar.

Have you talked to him about his confidence?

That’s quite a call to make, that his confidence will keep him from being good. It’s not like a bad delivery or a broken hand.

The horde of QBs available does not sound that outstanding.

Names frequently mentioned include Brady Quinn (now of Denver), Seneca Wallace, Jake Delhomme, Michael Vick, Jason Campbell, and even Marc Bulger (interest from Arizona). There just doesn’t seem to be a lot of excitement with this crew.

by RamChop on Mar 14, 2010 9:43 PM CDT reply actions

I highly doubt it.

Bulger isn’t even healthy and there’s no guarantee he’ll be healthy and able to play by the start of the year (or this year at all). Why would anyone trade a high draft pick (or even a mid- or even a low, for that matter) for a guy who has been horrible for 3 straight years and hasn’t yet recovered from a very serious leg injury that, in the two cases of it happening in the NFL, has ended every career it’s been associated with.

Life is tough, but it's tougher if you're stupid.

do you know for a fact...

That we didn’t inquire about Quinn? We may have inquired and but weren’t interested. Too many people speculating, about what the FO is doing and not doing. Just because we didn’t make a transaction or acquisition, doesn’t mean we are not at lest “testing the waters” or “kicking the tires”. And maybe the Rams aren’t inquiring either, my point is, we don’t know for sure, so why jump to the conclusion that we aren’t?

The involvement of the media these days

has become an integral part of this game. The fact that information is often times acquired and released before the organization has a chance to let it be known, happens way to often. Hence, the RUMOR MILL…you can take that for what it is. I don’t put a lot of weight behind it, but at the very least there tends to be SOME truth to it….hell that is how the rumors get started. The point that I am making, is that the Rams have not been associatted too often in any rumor mill….excluding Michael Vick of course. It would be nice to hear about your last place team looking to make improvements. And since we are not in the FO, we dont’ have much access to the information that when and who the rams are contacting to discuss items. We have the media, the rumor mill…
No one is jumping to any conclussions or making hasty comments. It was a rhetorical question that every fan asks about their team " Why am I not hearing about my team trying to make moves?"

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence

I know you know what that means. Some other guys on here will struggle with it, haha! but you won’t.

Will this give a wake up call to all the guys that wanted to give a 2nd rounder for Quinn

I wish people would get realistic with the all rediculous trade proposals on here

by CoachConnors on Mar 15, 2010 2:14 PM CDT reply actions

ridiculous indeed,

but most of the scenerios are based on dreams and not reality.

On another note, which QB are the Bronco’s letting go? I’d imagine Simms. They don’t need 4 QB’s.

by RamsFan1979 on Mar 15, 2010 2:56 PM CDT reply actions

Derek Anderson is the in the same boat except he has shown he could be either Pro-Bowl level or JaMarcus Russel awfulness.

by tkiller314 on Mar 15, 2010 9:32 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm curious to know why....

you would rather give SImms a shot over Anderson. Anderson has had success in the NFL, Simms has never had success in the NFL. Simms has rode his dads coat tails for his whole career. It’s time to say for once and all that this guy is a 2nd or 3rd string QB in the NFL.

Now I’m not saying I think Derek Anderson is the answer to our QB problems, but if it were me and I was foreced to pick between the two, Anderson would definately be my pick.
