Trade Down

The Seahawks obviously want a franchise QB, but they clearly don't have the line to support one. On draft day, I can see the Seahawks trading the #6 pick to the Rams for the #1 pick. This way the Seahawks can get their franchise QB (Bradford or Clausen) and then with the 14th pick get their starting LT. This trade allows the Rams to get out of the 1st pick so they don't have to pay that huge salary. This is how I see the trade happening: Rams get #6, 2nd Rounder, and 4th Rounder and the Seahwaks get the #1 pick. I think that if Bryan Bulaga is still there at #6, you take him. The Rams line would be set for years with Jason Smith at LT or RT, Buluga at LT or RT, and Jason Brown at C. We also won't have to watch Alex Barron record the most penalties in the league and we get to drop his contract. Almost all of the good teams in this league have good a offensive line. With the extra picks, I would go all offensive. We get young offensive players and let them play for one year to get their feet wet. Then in 2011, you get your Franchise QB (Locker, Mallet, Luck). We will have experience to help out our QB.

6th Pick (1): Bryan Bulaga OT

33rd Pick (2): Germaine Gresham TE

40th Pick (2): Jahvid Best RB

65th Pick (3): Demaryius Thomas WR

96th Pick (4): Dekoda Watson OLB

101st Pick (4): Mike Johnson OG

127th Pick (5): Daniel Te'o-Nesheim DE

I don't like bulaga for our team

Mayock and kiper both believe he is best fit as a zone blocking LT. I believe if we move down we should be looking at okung, (depending on the oj situation) berry, and clausen but as everyone has been saying trading out of the no.1 spot is nearly impossible

Okung

for sure, but I don’t think he still be there.

Well it's really up to what the lions do. We should try to free up some money

And release bell. Move Goldberg to RG put greco at LG okung at RT and we are gonna be able to protect locker while he looks to throw to demaryius!

Okung on one side, Smith on the other, and Brown in the middle

sounds very enticing.

Only five players have averaged 25 and 10 in their playoff careers. One of them, Dirk Nowitzki.

I like the concept

But not the names.I don’t think Gresham falls that far, and I’m sure Thomas and Johnson go earlier. It’s anybodys guess I suppose. I like Teo’Nesheim, but I think he and maybe Watson could last later than those picks. I also liked Donald Butler before it became vogue. I’ve watched a few UW games and have been familiar with them and Locker for awhile now. If we could pull off the trade it would be a windfall for the roster.

I have a hard time envisioning a draft day-ish trade occuring

between the Rams and Seahawks, especially with picks this high profile.

Yeah

The seachickens aren’t likely to make a divison rivals life easier

Nor are we about to help them draft their franchise quarterback.

Tackle Box, you should change your username to...

“VoiceOfReasoning”. Because, you’re right.

I seriously doubt the Rams are going to just hand over the answers to the Seahawks woes on a silver platter.

by Boofer on Mar 16, 2010 10:28 AM CDT up reply actions

I think the last thing you want to be doing

Is letting a division rival get the franchise QB that you have about a 50% chance of getting right now. If we were to trade with them, I would make them give up both first roundres.

by Carneros on Mar 14, 2010 11:00 AM CDT reply actions

If it makes your team better why wouldn't you trade with them?

by Blair Rocket on Mar 14, 2010 11:23 AM CDT up reply actions

It would still make our team better, and the seahawks arent that great are they? It would be different if we were trading our pick to someone like the Cardinals, who need a QB obviously because lienert wont do anything, that would help them, but the Seahawks, need more than a QB just like the Rams do, i agree with what greatestshowonturf said

by stlcardinals1522 on Mar 14, 2010 12:21 PM CDT up reply actions

i like the idea of waiting til next year to draft a qb.....

but drafting an OL with our first overall pick is not very smart its not really a position of need with Barron coming back…..ill give you Gresham if he falls that far yea pick him up but i dont think he will…and RB with our other second while i agree we do need one McCluster will be there in the 3rd and we have more pressing needs including DT and DE and especially WLB…lets fill those first and then go from there

by Danteslion on Mar 14, 2010 12:51 PM CDT reply actions

The

thing is, Barron arguably was the worst offensive lineman in the league when it comes to helping the team. People hate Incognito so much, but Barron was much worse then him. Sure, Incognito had alot of unessasary flags, but Barron lead the league in penalties. A team cannot win if its always 1st and 20, not 1st and 10.

by GreatestShowOnTurf on Mar 14, 2010 12:56 PM CDT reply actions

so let me get this straight

We want our division rival to draft a franchise QB?

You don’t let that happen. At least if we trade with the Redskins, Bradford wouldn’t be in our division.

Rays and Rams Baby

by Jombari on Mar 14, 2010 2:19 PM CDT reply actions

Are we going to stop them from taking Mallet, Locker or Luck next year too? Most scouts think they are better NFL prospects.

I would be more afraid of a healthy Hasselbeck with a good offensive line than Bradford with their current line for sure. Gimme a break, a rookie QB is not going to help the Rams or himself this year. We were 1-15 last season with two veteran starters at the helm. Do you truly believe that Bradford is going to be better than a former pro bowler with our line, wide receivers and defense? Sit back and think about that. What it will most likely do is get him hurt and destroy his confidence. Get Suh or trade down for picks! Add another piece to the O-Line, get at least one respectable receiver and also give our young team another year to mature. Then we pick up a QB in a better QB class for a lower price due to the Draft Cap and he may have a chance at some success. Really? Don’t let the Seahawks get a rookie QB? Haha! Laughable.

by Everett 11 on Mar 14, 2010 4:09 PM CDT reply actions

Which NFL scouts are those?

I’m hearing Bradford is the best college prospect since P. Manning. I’m guessing Locker is the only one of those three that goes in the first round next year.

by andyrose on Mar 14, 2010 5:32 PM CDT up reply actions

I still don't think Luck

is even coming out next year. I may be wrong, but how many RS So do you ever see entering the draft at the QB position?

by gorams77 on Mar 15, 2010 10:22 AM CDT up reply actions

They are actually PROJECTED TO BECOME

better prospects…maybe.

If they came out right now they would not be ahead of Bradford. Probably not ahead of Clausen. And how injuries work, who knows if any of them will have worsde than Bradford by this time next year.

by CoachConnors on Mar 15, 2010 2:37 PM CDT up reply actions

Yet, if Bradford would have come out last year

he’d have been ahead of both Stafford and Sanchez.

Suh at #1

If it takes 2-3 yrs. to get a QB up to speed why not take BPA and give Null at least 1 full year?

by rlf707 on Mar 15, 2010 9:43 AM CDT reply actions

For the #1

They want to draft their future franchise QB?

I want the #6 AND #14 pick. Then, maybe, we can talk.

As for QB, don’t forget about Case Keenum from Houston. You like Kevin Kolb in Philly, Keenum can be better.

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. -- George Santayana (1863-1952)

by cubfred on Mar 15, 2010 9:55 AM CDT reply actions

Who will need QB's next year?

Projecting this year’s draft we can see Rams, Seahawks and Redskins all “need” quarterbacks. If 4 QB’s are going to go in the first round next year, you’d need a few teams that have a need there. I don’t know if BPA gets you a 3rd or 4th QB in the first round.
Any ideas about which teams would be taking those QB’s?

The blind stares of a million pairs of eyes, lookin hard but won't realize, that they'll never see the C. And when I'm rollin by, you can't see me!

by CoachConnors on Mar 16, 2010 12:32 PM CDT up reply actions

I don't think there is any chance all those four QBs

will go in the first round next year. Remember, some folks thought the Texas Tech QB would get drafted high in 2009, but it didn’t happen. College play doesn’t always translate wll to the NFL. Still, the other teams needing QBs include Cleveland, Buffalo, and probably Arizona, Oakland and San Fran. There may even be more, but those are ones I could think of right away.

by andyrose on Mar 16, 2010 5:42 PM CDT up reply actions

We still don't know if Harrells snub was a mistake.

It happened to Flutie and we all know about Warner. The jury’s still out on Harrell for at least 3-4 years.

by dbcouver on Mar 16, 2010 8:32 PM CDT up reply actions

last years draft

They gave up a second rounder in 2009 for a first rounder in 2010. Deal was with Denver.

by dbcouver on Mar 16, 2010 8:36 PM CDT up reply actions

I like...

getting the #6 AND #14…or else we’re taking Bradford.

by Blood Red Pred on Mar 15, 2010 6:39 PM CDT reply actions

#6 and #14 aren't enough

It should cost extra value to trade up not to trade down. Realistically we should be entitled to Seattles 3rd and 4th rounders too.
