What's the Word on Derek Anderson?
He's been released by the Browns. If the Rams were to sign him, do they have to pick up the rest of his contract? Is he worth a shot? Or what about the Rumor that B Quinn is also being shopped? Would either of these guys be seriously considered by the Rams front office. I'd feel much more comfortable hoping for a bounce back from these guys than any of teh other QB's out there....ESPN has an insightful bit about how hard the Browns fans are on their stating QB's. Could the Rams rejuvenate one of these guys?

Read the posts on him in other threads.
He is inaccurate, doesn’t throw touch passes, and is a poor athlete.
what was 2007 for him
Just a crazy career year anomaly, or does he have some underlying skills we could put to use? He’s def not a crazy athlete , but he has the right build and has shown at OSU and in 2007 that he can sling the ball around…
I haven't read the reports...
but he is not a poor athlete. I can say that with a lot of confidence, I’ve seen this guy in person compete in other sports besides football. He is incredibly athletic. Is he Michael Vick? No, of course not, but I would say he is more athletic than either of Manning bros, Bulger, Warner, M. Sanchez, etc, etc,. He will not be a great runner, but he is athletic. Besides, I don’t care how athletic our QB is, as long as he is efficient. I’m not saying that Derek Anderson is an efficient QB, I’m just saying for the record.
If you held a gun to me head and made me choose between Anderson and Quinn, sadly, I would take Anderson.
incredibly athletic?
That’s not what Scounts Inc are saying. I haven’t seen to guy in person but they really tried to put to rest any misunderstanding that the guy is an athlete.
I don’t want to clog up the intarwebs with lots of reposting, so I’ll leave you the link..

Heavy feet
They said he is a poor athlete with heavy feet, I guess I’m not exactly sure what they base it on. I base my report on in person viewing. He was an incredible high school basketball player and track athlete. I could be mistaken, but I believe he was recruited to play basketball by several colleges. He is a good athlete, he might have heavy feet, I don’t know, but he is a good athlete.
Well, he's 6' 6" so they probably mean he's a long striding, plodding runner
As opposed to a quick stepping type of guy who can cut hard.
Browns web site is down already but I found the cached page and it says one of his college track events was shot put, another was mile relay (1600 meter relay), and the other simply “hurdles” which I take must mean 400 meter hurdles, which is something long striding plodders can do. (110 meter hurdles is not, 2 completely different events)

Good work on finding that info...
I think it really comes down to how one defines a “good athlete”. To me a guy that is good enough to play in the NFL have success at Basketball and track and field, definately qualifies as a good athlete, no doubt about it, but as I said earlier, he’s not Michael Vick. I think that’s type of athlete that some people are thinking of when they hear “good athlete”.
They're replacing the word speed with athlete.
He does not have good speed so therefore, he must be a poor athlete. That’s what I get out of it.
Yep
Maybe the writer has a grudge or something. I know the 400 meter hurdles is maybe the single hardest event in all of track and field. It about killed me.
Little known fact: in the ancient Olympics, track and field events were known simply as “athletics.”

Very interesting fact....
I’m not a scout, but I’d like to think I can recognize a good athlete when I see one. There were times when I was in high school I was mistaken for a good athlete. Those days are long gone.
Could the Rams borrow Dave Duncan for a few months?
The guy has made a career out of turning shreds of raw talent in muddling prospects into All Stars. Can Richard Curl do the same kind of turnaround job? If not, then I don’t think Anderson, Quinn etc have a shot…

He sucks...
I’m pretty sure thats the word
Free Brandon Wood!
I don't see...
I don’t see how Anderson is any better than Bulger. Both are slow, and both aren’t really worth the contracts they had/have, so I say if you are taking that route then stay with the guy that already knows the system, Bulger.
Probably cheaper, I would say definitely not better
I’d want to keep Bulger too if those turn out to be the only options.

His contract is now voided....
since he was released by the Browns. At least that’s how i think it works. The Browns absorb the cap hit for any remaining bonus money due from the life of the contract but the player’s side of the contract is void and he is an unrestricted free agent. Someone correct me if I’m wrong….So what would we really have to lose other than what it costs to sign the guy? Let’s face it, he’s taken alot less hits than Bulger, he’s got a great QB body and is still young. Maybe he isn’t our savior but I think he is a viable option whether we draft Bradford or not. Signing him would start to make me feel just a little better about our lack of participation in the FA sweepstakes.
My life's unique distinction is being one of the twenty sorry fans who bought Rams season tickets in Anaheim from '86 to '94!
Two years ago I would have agreed with you,
but he has stunk it up the last two years. The Browns were desperate and just handed him the job, and he blew it. Some games his completion percentage was well below 50%. Unless he makes a miraculous comeback, I don’t see how he can help anyone.
I just checked on Anderson's stats for 2009.
He completed 44.5% of his passes for the year. He threw for 3 TDs and had 10 Ints. I don’t care how much of a QB body he has, those stats are terrible.
Whatever happened to the Joe Johnson guy from TB
I thought the Rams were in love with him or something?
The House of Spears reigns supreme
I think it was more a case
of some draftnik thinking it would make a great rumor that the Rams were interested. It was part of a supposed deal that had the Bucs trading up to our pick to get Suh. I think the Bucs have now said they want to trade down, not up.
QB -Brady Quinn
We should look at Quinn for the price. Fans could live with him as he develops, As Holgrem says "it take at least 32 games to determine whether your QB is the one for your team. Quin has about 13 games experience with "Mike Furrey " as main receiver . How can they release him and think that he was given a fair chance to compete? We could build team with more players trading back and moving forward through free agency.
Agreed
Now that Delhomme is there, Brady should be available. Let’s grab him and take Suh.

Only five players have averaged 25 and 10 in their playoff careers. One of them, Dirk Nowitzki.
