Texans will not franchise CB Dunta Robinson

There might not be much available in the way of defensive tackles on the free agent market, but teams looking for cornerbacks have several opportunities to get into a bidding war and overspend.

The news out of Houston today is that the Texans will not use the franchise tag for CB Dunta Robinson. Though he did start all 16 games this year, his stats won't exactly wow anyone, especially the goose egg in the INT column...not that INTs are everything. Robinson and Patriots CB Leigh Bodden, who had 5 INTs, are the top names at CB in free agency. Tackle Box ran down the Rams offseason CB situation to kickoff his "Being Billy Devaney" series.

The good news for the Rams at CB is that Bradley Fletcher is recovering nicely from his brutal leg injury. No word yet as to when he'll be back at full speed, but reports have made it sound like he should be ready to go for training camp. If Fletcher's injury hasn't taken away from the very real progress he showed last season when he earned a starting job, CB won't be as big of a priority for the Rams, especially if they get a pass rusher somehow.

Rams won't get a CB in Free Agency

I’ve read this report that Billy D. actually believe Fletcher is a “star in the making” type player. And all signs are pointing to a great recovery for his knee problem.

The name's Rams, St. Louis Rams.

Weren't people upset

when Fletcher Bradley was drafted third?

Yep....

We were hightly critisized for that pick. Much like when we drafted Ron Bartell.

It always amazes me that the guy sitting at home watching YouTube clips and college football games on tv, knows more about these players than scouts and GM’s.

They get it wrong often enough

that it leaves the door open to people who watch closely to second guess. It’s obviously an art, or an inexact sicence at best.

It’s not like you go to your doctor’s office and overrule him on a diagnosis, or defend yourself in court against murder charges (if you’re, you know, sane).

But there’s hits and misses in every GM’s draft, so people can always point to some mistake somewhere and say “Told ya so”.

True dat

Yet I, thought it was a beautiful pick for the 3rd round(?).

Finally, some sense with the DE position of need

I remember vividly Kevin Greene coming around the corner and fricken’ beheading Phil Simms of the NY football Giants on pass rush. Then later, Grant Wistrom. Yes, we need a freakin’ DE and impact OLB!!!!!!!!!!
