Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

Vick says he thought he was headed to Rams

Mikevickbet_medium

Star-divide

On tonight's The Michael Vick Project, which just finished airing on BET, Vick said that following his release from prison he thought he was headed to the St. Louis Rams.

"I thought I was headed to St. Louis...St. Louis or Kansas City," said Vick.

I know there has been much speculation about whether we cut ties with Bulger and make a run at bringing Vick aboard to start next year, espeically given the Devaney-Vick connection from their days with the Falcons and the Philly-like offensive playbook we run. I'll certainly admit I've been on the bandwagon. But you gotta wonder whether there was a lot more to this story than any of us realized, given the statements aired tonight. Think Devaney was closer to pulling the trigger on signing Vick than the St. Louis media reported? If so, why didn't happen? Could there have been a veto from Spags or ownership? If there was, does how does that affect the chances of trading a 4th or 5th round draft pick for him this year? Would owner Khan see things differently than others?

As much as I want to see a win for this team,

but Vick? What other then dumping money on a false hope, would we gain from this? The only team he ever played well against was the Rams. Aaron Brooks did too, big deal. Draft a QB first round, or draft Suh and snag Campbell or Edwards to fill a hole for the year. How can we expect our young WR’s to learn when Vick is running like a inmate that droped the soap?

QBs...

1. Accuracy
2. Football IQ

Those are the two things that make a great QB. You do NOT need athleticism, toughness, the ability to run, or a strong arm. Accuracy and a high football IQ. Michael Vick has neither. The only coverage he knows how to read is probably man to man or Cover 2, to quote a certain Jags lineman.

In fairness… He carried a very average team to the NFC Championship Game in 2004.

by JimmyK on Feb 17, 2010 8:51 AM CST up reply actions

That was 6 years ago

And outside of that one season, his teams are 28-24-1 in games he’s started with one trip to the playoffs.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

I’m not trying to convince anyone to like Vick… was just debating the assertion that “athleticism, toughness, the ability to run, or a strong arm” won’t get you anywhere.

by JimmyK on Feb 17, 2010 12:54 PM CST up reply actions

I don't believe he said they wouldn't get you anywhere.

He said you don’t need them to be a great QB. The point was that the two things you do need to be a great QB are things Vick doesn’t have.

and we wouldn’t be happy with a .540 winning pct. right about now? Really?

by cuseguy on Feb 18, 2010 9:06 PM CST up reply actions

not really.

What’s the point of finishing 7-9, 8-8, or 9-7 every season. Just like what Atlanta did, you’d probably make the playoffs once every six years. If you aren’t making the playoffs, then who cares what your record is?

All those things help a lot though.

Especially arm strength. You can be accurate but never make certain throws because you know you can’t thread it in there.

by Carneros on Feb 17, 2010 9:29 PM CST up reply actions

I don't think it was all that close to happening last year.

Because of two things…

1) Bulger’s contract and, more importantly, cap hit were far to large for the Rams to cut or demote him.

2) The Rams really had no cap space to work with which is why you saw so many veterens cut and replaced by non-drafted and practice squad guys.

Signing Vick really wasn’t a feasable option last year (not even taking into account the possible PR stuff) becasue of the money.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

Everyone looks at what Vick did 4 to 6 years ago

and thinks he can still do it. That isn’t going to happen. He is that much older, he hasn’t been playing and is very rusty. Passing QBs can play well into their mid-30s, but RBs can’t and that’s basically what Vick was. You would get an over-the-hill RB who isn’t a very accurate passer. Even if you think getting the Vick of 5 years ago would be great, and I don’t, that Michael Vick is long gone and won’t ever come back.

Vick

Hell no you people blind? He stinks

by CGSuddeath on Feb 18, 2010 5:59 PM CST reply actions

Thats it?

Well what else did he say about why he thought that and why it didn’t happen?

This is rather meaningless without a little more info. Maybe he dreamed that shit up to take his mind off of being the Crip leader’s prisonwife.

Wait till he's released

Then pick him up for cheap, and have him spell SJ as a RB. Might be an interesting change of pace. Just a thought.

Heck no!

Vick is a terrible QB. WE NEED CLAUSEN!!!!!!!!!!

by Starkey on Feb 20, 2010 10:15 AM CST reply actions

Clausen is sliding down most draft boards right now,

and isn’t even the second QB any more on some of them. Why do we need a guy that draft gurus are saying has very little upside since he just doesn’t have the tools to make much improvement?

by andyrose on Feb 20, 2010 12:17 PM CST up reply actions

Why would you put any credibility into someone rising or falling in the "draft boards" right now?

What is it based on? None of these guys have played a game in a month, no one’s had a workout, and the Combine is next weekend. It’s all talk based on nothing but filling space.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

+1

I only need three things: baseball, basketball, and football.

by Blair Rocket on Feb 20, 2010 3:11 PM CST up reply actions

Since the season ended they have been studying film

just like the NFL teams have. They don’t get to really study game films during the season, since there is so much going on. Now that the season is over they have been studying film of the 2009 season games played by the guys likely to be drafted. That’s why people are moving up and down the boards right now. It isn’t all talk and it isn’t just filling space. How much film study have you done of all the QBs since the season ended? Why do you think your opinion is more valid than theirs?

by andyrose on Feb 20, 2010 5:41 PM CST up reply actions

You watch the players during the season and study them while they are playing.

I don’t think Tackle Box is saying that his opinion is more valid. What he is saying is the truth.

I only need three things: baseball, basketball, and football.

VICK THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO THE RAMS

Well Vick is stupid then! Saint Louis dont need him. As you can see he isn’t to smart or have very good judgement because he didn’t think would get caught, he didnt think he would go to jail and he didnt think anybody would care if he MURDERED THOSE DOGS!
Back to prison and the PENAL League or better yet a DOG FIGHTING RING, HIM AGAINST THE DOGS, BECAUSE, THEIR ONLY DOGS!
