Random Ramsdom: 2/15/2010 Afternoon News
Today, this fine Monday we've been talking about a few things already. A few notes on the business side of things and that the Seahawks snagged the CFL's sack leader from last year. Here are some other stories for you:
- I'm not trying to stir the pot or anything, but both Bernie at STLToday and Mike Florio at ProFootballtalk.com take a look at a couple of factors that may (or may not) have something to do with our (in the works) new owner.
- Will at Ramsherd brings up an interesting point: Spagnuolo's "out clause", with conjunction of the sale of the Rams, means the coach can leave if the sale goes through. Not to say he's going somewhere (ahem...Nick Saban).
- Torry Holt was released from the Jaguars. He now joins Isaac Bruce in the unemployed list.
- Mike Sando takes another look at the Rams new trainer. ESPN also has a series taking a look at some available free agents (starting with the AFC divisions).
- Mocking the draft takes a look at some players that could change how the draft plays out. I wouldn't mind some of them in a Rams uniform...
Enjoy your Monday everyone!

i soooooooo want.....
kampman and wouldnt mind having dansby either would save us having to draft muckelroy in the 3rd and we can get mcluster instead
I don't think we have to worry about Spagnuolo going anywhere...
First off, there are only 32 of these jobs in the world and he’s got one of them…why would you want to leave? Obviously, I’m not in his head, but he doesn’t seem to me like the kind of guy who would want to leave a 1-15 unfinished job. I think this is a mutually beneficial arrangement between him and the Rams. Now whether the new owner is going to want him if there is a repeat of this past season is another question.
Also
He’d have a close-to-impossible job of finding another head coaching job right now.
Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.
talk about a four pillar move
if he did quit based on the ownership situation

If the Rams can't draft 11 good ones
it ain’t gonna help.
I'm interested in seeing the Rams go after Dansby
Kampman might be cheaper after a disappointing season, but Dansby has proven to be capable on the outside or inside a 3-4. I don’t see why he wouldn’t be a beast next to Laurinaitis. We talk about the draft so much, but the Rams have to add a notable free agent at some point this offseason. Why not Dansby?
You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.
On what side of Laurinaitis?
Dansby plays ILB in a 3-4 D & isn’t known for his cover skills; which is why he plays ILB. I’m just wondering how we would use him. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a great LB, but IMO not for us.

who cares what side he's on, he is a easily an upgrade over larry grant or paris lenon....
if we have those two starting again next year i just might cry
My point is not what side he plays on
rather it’s that Dansby isn’t a 4-3 LB; he’s a 3-4 ILB. Why not choose someone who can play outside in a 4-3?
We may not have many choices
We need some FA help. The 3-4 isn’t the 4-3, true, but is Dansby the kind of guy we could use? It’s not too much of a position switch if he can be the SAM, then great. How are his coverage skills? We could use either side, anyway. Free agency isn’t gonna be easy for the players this year either. Dansby is worth signing if he’ll do it.
he'd be our weakside LB
if the Rams singed him.
i think big free agent moves will be tough for the Rams with the team not generating much revenue. Also, remember that Chip and Lucia will still be the majority owners when free agency starts and not eager to spend big money while the new guys waits to take over.

Sort of.
I’m sure he has a say in what happens. If something substantial were to arise, he’d have a say in it.

Kampman
I think is the better man for us…he would be a great replacement to Little and would be somone other teams have to account for every down. He prefers to play DE in a 4-3 system. And we need another end to compliment Long, he’s worth the money imo. I’d be excited to see him in blue and gold.
