Rams-Saints: Vobora starting; Bartell iffy

The St. Louis Rams could be without their top cornerback, Ron Bartell, when they take on the New Orleans Saints this week.

Uh oh, the injury bug looms large over the St. Louis Rams ahead of a tough week 14 matchup against the defending champs.

CB Ron Bartell was one of several players who did not practice today, and his status for Sunday's game against the pass-happy Saints is up in the air. Keep an eye on this situation. Not to overstate the obvious, but this could have a big impact on the Rams game plan...a game plan that could likely feature 5 defensive backs on a majority of the snaps. Justin King was limited in practice today too.

At linebacker, David Vobora looks like he'll replace Na'il Diggs on the strong side. Though he doesn't have DIggs' experience, he does have most of a season under his belt starting at that spot. He was a stellar run defender last year. Chris Chamberlain will probably start on the weak side. That doesn't come as a huge surprise either. Chamberlain has been a part of the nickel defense, so his starting against New Orleans makes sense.

UPDATE: I wanted to run my semi-regular social media plea by you again. We're really trying to grow our Facebook presence as a natural extension of our community. Years ago, that platform seemed kind of silly to me, but it's a big part of the evolution of the web and web-based communities like TST. I hope that if you're a reader here, you'll follow us on Facebook as well. Next year, SBN and TST will be doing more and more through that platform, things like events that will really underscore what we do here: give the fans a voice.

That's the play where no one literally could have touched him

and he dropped the pick. That play could have won us the game…

Just a word to the wise

Folks in the military and government don’t use social network sites for obvious reasons. So you will lose some of us for that reason.

I don't understand why there's a push to go towards Facebook.

I mean, it’s fine if peeps want to use it, but does it have an advantage for what we want to do on this site?

Why do we need another site to visit? It seems counterproductive to me.

… or is this a money issue?

I can take a beating ... I'm a Rams fan.

Just connecting.

It’s a networking site, looks good when they say they have all these people on facebook that are fans, blah blah blah.

Makes us look awesome.

that is not true

and before anyone says how would you know bla bla bla I would because I am a 2LT in the CAV. Servicemen use social networking like facebook all the time. however obviously, they cannot put FOUO information (for official use only) on it.

Scouts Out

i understand completely

i know lots of people (e.g. teachers) who typically can’t do that either.

the main reason isn’t marketing or anything like that, it’s just the way the web is going. Look at Facebook rolling out an email system. For us, it’s just a natural extension of the community. Lots of people center their web activities around sites like Facebook now, not everyone but enough to make a difference. Down the road, we’ll starting doing more events, e.g. tailgating, meetups, etc. and that’s a better way to naturally organize that stuff.

As long as this site does not lose it's value for sharing thoughts and information

about our team, you can do what ever you want over on FB. I won’t be there as I am not a FB type of individual.

Just don’t stop growing this site because you want a more a “social” media setting, please.

Don't worry

This is the central nervous system of the operation, all that stuff is just the other bits you have tack on.

You'd be surprised

I’ve seen legitimate engineers work at Starbucks. In fact, I actually embarrassed myself at my internship because I said, “hell I wouldn’t want to work for Starbucks” and it turned out their was a guy in the room that used to work for Starbucks as a software/electrical engineer.

I'm not surprised

        Starbucks can’t be too choosy.

they do that for management at starbucks

ever notice you dont see any tattooes or piercings. anyone who wants a respectable job will not have a FB or myspace to be descriminated against for future promotions.

I prefer not volutarily profiling myself,

But…if the TST facebook site had some midgets on it, I would probably make a fake account just so I could surf it…

I don't have a bookface.

But I cheer for the lambs. Too many people have got into trouble with bookface.

I really don't want to get involved with Facebook.

I know you moved a couple of bits of information exclusively to Facebook this year and I wasn’t happy about it. Keep everything about football here, and leave Facebook for those who want to truly socialize there – with no serious football talk.

I'd also think it would be cool to get apps for Android, iOS, WinMo

Like RSS feeds that instantly let you look at the news, instead of having to troll around the mobile (or full version) site on 3G.

It’d make getting a quick fix a lot easier. I tried messing around in Android, but had no fkin clue what I was doing. As far as Apple goes, I wasn’t willing to plunk 100 bucks to give it a shot.

Van, I have one comment on something semi-related

… The game threads… Van we love your opinion, and some games (maybe you do this for all now?) I’ve noticed most of your comments are on Twitter versus being in the game thread.

This isn’t a nasty comment, just saw it then and wondered why in the world you wouldn’t want to have your voice in the game thread versus Twitter. Some of your comments were awesome as usual, and I’m sorry I missed them during the game.

Again, not trashing you brother, just curious on why you do that is all :-)

Pooch punts should be illegal inside an opponents 38 yard line.

It's part of the move away from TST.

… whether it is admitted or not :(
