Rams Jackson makes 2011 Pro Bowl roster

St. Louis Rams RB Steven Jackson has had to fight for every inch of each rushing yard this season, and he's going to the Pro Bowl.

Congrats to St. Louis Rams RB Steven Jackson who was the only member of his team to make the 2011 NFL Pro Bowl. Jackson's been battling all season, stacked boxes, holes that barely emit light for him to run through...there's almost a certain amount of tragedy to it.

Speaking of tragedy, the rest of the Rams got jobbed on the Bowl Bowl. Royally jobbed on the whole thing

No Donnie Jones; that honor went to Mat McBriar of the Cowboys, one of five players from the 5-10 Dallas Cowboys to make the team. No James Laurinaitis, Chris Long or James Hall

Ah to hell with it. I'll admit, I never bother watching the Pro Bowl anyway. I'd honestly rather watch week 17 of a 1-14 Rams game than the Pro Bowl. Not much for All-Star games in general.

Truthfully

I stopped watching the Pro Bowl 5 years ago. It became too much of a joke. Prime Example here, 1 Ram is an embarrassment to us. Congrats S-Jax. Suh is a starter, 5 Cowboys, such bs.

It became a joke

when Vince Young made it as a rookie.

Fred Robbins deserves it over Suh. Suh’s been great but has struggled against the run, Robbins has done it ALL.

Robbins is a beast

He gets past the O-Line so easily this year. Making big plays.

MAT FREAKING MCBRIAR?!

Wow, it must always feel good to be a Cowboy with all the BIAS THEY GET! BULLSHIT!

Matt Cassel got screwed.

Say what you want about the offense he’s had around him but it doesn’t change the fact that he’s had an amazing season.

And I'm shocked that Jerod Mayo isn't starting o.O

Definitely a starter, no doubt.

Not sure, but don't think he was there when that scandal broke out.

When was he drafted?

haha no

Brady, Manning, and Rivers are all better..

Rivers and Brady might have had the best stats of any QB and Manning had no run game and Reggie Wayne (while admittedly a great weapon – not enough once Clark got injured)

Cassell had the best rush game in the league with Bowe

They're all better

but please do not tell me that Manning had a better season than Cassel, regardless of who had what around them. The Pro Bowl is supposed to take the player who had a better season THIS year.

Manning has made way too many mistakes

and lost games for his team. Same with Brees, why the hell did he make it over Rodgers?

Actually,

NFC defensive end’s must have been the hardest position to pick. You can make a case that Osi Umenyiora got snubbed too but the others have been great this season as well. Though, I think both Cole and Umenyiora deserved it over Peppers yet he was the first pick.

Agreed

NFC is stacked with great DEs. You could make a case that six DEs from the NFC (Cole, Peppers, Osi, Tuck, Abraham, Long) would’ve made for a better roster than 3 each for the AFC/NFC.

by Abrantes on Dec 28, 2010 7:05 PM CST up reply actions

definitely

although Peppers pretty much is the signpost of the bears turnaround.

he has been very impressive and as such a high profile player got the nod.
he is good vs run and pass.

I think he is one of only two NFC DE’s better than Long…

well some AFC and some NFC teams run the 3-4 so

its kind or hard to gauge.like the steelers DE wont produce like the giants DE just like jags OLB wont put up cowboys OLB….smith from 9ers is a stud run stuffer but he want get sack number like our very own hall/long but i think smith got the nod to be in the pro bowl right? yea shameless

he’s dissappeared in way too many games

PRO BOWL=MISS AMERICA CONTEST

They only pick guys that will play in the media. SCREW EM!!!

by Knoxfan on Dec 28, 2010 6:52 PM CST reply actions

Could not Agree more.

This is a popularity contest ever since they allowed the public to vote on it, Now to have it before the SuperBowl?? I would rather watch golf or soccer.

by Da Rookie on Dec 29, 2010 6:12 AM CST up reply actions

it's a shame

but next season we will get a lot more love due to being more successful.

it really bothers me that the cowboys punter got in though.
i know o line votes are skewed also, but surely there should be some way to override the dumb homer votes for positions people have no clue about?

HOW THE HELL DOES D'ANGELO HALL MAKE IT INTO THE PROBOWL????

i’m not gonna talk about the Ram snubs… but WTF.
this dude gave up more TD’s than the entire Texans fucking secondary!!!

he had tonnes of INTS but was embarrassed on monday night football and in prime time slots you’d think even the most homeristic of football fans would pass on that sucker.

WTF!

McBriar is the biggest bullshit thing i’ve ever seen and makes me hate the cowgirls more. BUT FUCK!!!!!! HALL????

and OMG

no Tampa Bay Bucs???

i’d be pissed if I was a Buccaneers fan.
Freeman, Blount, The interior O Line, AQIB TALIB etc. all have been very good to excellent.

for Talib to be snubbed for DeAngelo Hall makes me want to vom.

FUCK THE PRO BOWL AND IT’s INJUSTICE

Nobody watches the Pro Bowl anyways...congrats for the obvious recognition to Jackson

I think he should be the starter…but more importantly, I just hope he doesnt get injured!

Silver Lining

OJ isn’t due his bonus for making the Pro Bowl, increasing our chances of keeping hold of him next year.

by RamintheUK on Dec 28, 2010 7:22 PM CST reply actions

Biggest snub is probably Long, but he just didn't have the traditional statistics to make it

I think a few more Rams could have made it, but I can’t really argue too much with the players that got the nod. At least statistically, Matt McBrair had a better average punt than Donnie Jones.

I’ll echo the sentiment of the pro bowl being the most worthless all-star game there is. It’s not real football.

by TheBirds on Dec 28, 2010 7:48 PM CST reply actions

I am happy that SJ got the honor

but to be honest… the only time I gave a shit about the probowl was when I lived in Hawaii and it became a week long party…lol

I'd like to know what Rams were named as alternates...

for some goddamn reason, that list is never published, so you have to go to the individual team sites to find out.

I am so happy to see this.

Now, we won’t have to worry about any of them getting hurt a week before we play the super bowl game.

Rams of the 70's sent 5-6 players to the Pro Bowl every year but never won the big one

Funny thing is every sports channel I watch right now has the Rams as the team going in as the division winner lol no one wants to even think that Seattle might get in ha ha ha this is really funny

by Rams67 on Dec 28, 2010 10:19 PM CST reply actions

Meh...

Congrats to sjax for recognition, but as you coyly point out, all star games in any sport are never that entertaining.

the biggest ram snub by far is animal jr

brian urlacker got in off his reputation. his numbers are better, but watch him play and he really hasnt been that great this season. hes lost a step and lance briggs has been the better linebacker for a while now. i though our boy deserved it over him. also antrel rolle has no business being in the probowl. he has not been that good this season. julius peppers is in the probowl because he is the posterboy for the bears defensive turnaround. while i disagree with that, there are far larger injustices then that.

by nodisrespect on Dec 29, 2010 9:27 AM CST reply actions

well that's just total bullshit

If Urlacher’s numbers are better, you’d be hard-pressed to try to argue Lauranitis over him… I mean Lauranitis even has two terrible OLBs to give him more tackles!

i think we are showing our biased side today...

No offense, but the majority of guys that people are pissed about, probably shouldn’t be in the Pro Bowl

Long – Tuck has 11.5 sacks and 6 FF, Abraham has 13 sacks, and Peppers has 8 sacks and 2 INTs – all better than Long
Robbins – Suh has nine sacks, Smith has 60 tackles and 5.5 sacks, and Ratliff just doesn’t belong at all – but Robbins has 26 tackles and THREE FUCKING GAMES where he didn’t do anything at all
Jones – He declined later in the season and the 49ers punter is actually better – I’ll change my sig
Lauranitis – Willis is the best and Urlacher has better stats – would’ve been nice to have three MLBs but that’s the way the cookie crumbles

Hell, Jackson doesn’t even deserve to be in. Jones is about the only player who should probably be in and Robbins only because of the shit choice they got. Other than that I’m not getting worked up about a team that lacks stars and has a bunch of people that are close but not Pro Bowlers.
