NFC Playoff Picture: NFC West winner will host Saints
Last night's win by the defending champs, the New Orleans Saints, over the Atlanta Falcons makes the NFC playoff picture just a little clearer, at least for the eventual NFC West winner.
By beating the Falcons, the Saints have guaranteed themselves a wild card spot and a trip to either Seattle or St. Louis in the opening round of the postseason. A Falcons win would have left the door open to several possibilities for the Rams or Seahawks.
Week 17 is essentially a playoff game for the NFC West, a playoff game in everything but the official record book. It won't be an easy task for the winner to face a Saints team that just beat the Falcons in Atlanta.
The NFC West showdown was moved to the prime time NBC spot last too.

Or Atlanta.
N.O. Beats Bucs and Carolina beats Atlanta and N.O. gets south division and Atlanta gets #5 seed.
Not likely scenario but “any given Sunday”.
I would personally like to play N.O.
I thought if we score instead of getting an INT for a TD, thats a totally different game. ATL doesn’t make mistakes and they eat alive teams that can’t get pressure to Ryan.
Sam Bradford
Totally agree
A weaker team can beat the Saints on their mistakes, though it’s rare. With Atlanta, it’s more or less impossible
Neither one is going to be a bargain.
Atlanta and New Orleans were the two teams that outclassed us this year (setting aside the crazy Detroit game). I’m not saying we couldn’t beat either of them given the right circumstances, but either is going to be a very tough game (assuming we beat Seattle – I just threw this in here to be sure I don’t hex the Rams for this Sunday).
No assumption..
We will beat the hawks. I stayed with this notion last week with the 9ers and see where that got us.
As Donald Sutherland as Oddball said in Kelly’s Heroes
Crazy! I mean like so many positive waves maybe we can’t lose! You’re on!
Your title should have read “After we beat Seattle, neither one is going to be a bargain”.
We can beat the Saints if we get them at home in a full dome.
We’d be much more prepared this time for a strong pass rush and quick passes by the Saints.
i honestly think we can beat the saints
At home with a healthy squad. Remember we didn’t have bartell and was just banged up. Just gota beat the stupid seachickens and then take it to the saints

We're 2-0 in "revenge" games
…in rematches after losses (Arizona, San Fran). I’d like to think the coaching staff and personnel could make adjustments against the Saints.
As a Purdue alum who went to the Rose Bowl my sophomore year thanks to Brees, it’s very tough to root against the guy, but rest assured I will be screaming my head off if he comes to the Dome.
go cards, o's, and phillies.
...boiler up.
Big time football
Time to see what the 2010 Rams are made of. I wish I wasn’t so damn busy this week so I could spend more time on TST hyping it up, but oh well. At least my Sunday night is wide open…
You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.
you can go to hell

Would rather have played the Bucs, but the Saints are more likely to implode than the Falcons
so I guess this isn’t so bad.
I don't know
Personally, I find that the Saints are a much better team than the Falcons. The Saints have a great defense and so many offensive weapons. The Falcons only have Ryan, White, and Turner (imho).
It’s too late to with otherwise, so let’s prepare for the Saints after we beat the seahags.
If I get paid a dollar for every time Bradford says "you know," I'd be a millionaire!
Looking at that pic, Sam the Ram is one big Dude. He looks like a more slender muscular version of Big Ben.
LOL in the pick it looks like he is saying dude, you are a short little shit arent you!
All I want for Christmas is a Pete Carroll scowl on week 17!

I'd prefer the Saints
over the falcons who beat us at home.
I mean we easily could have beaten the saints in NO if a couple things went our way (no pick 6) and this time around it will be at the Ed.
The problem is that
the Saints pick 6 and the other redzone pick were not flukes. The Saints are much more experienced and you can bet your ass that the defense will make more clutch plays again.

Guys...come on
looking way too far ahead. Let’s get into the playoffs first. Playing IN Qwest, with their loud-ass fans, is not a game to look over. Plus the weather is not going to be in our favor.
I met Joe Halahuni's parents.....in Alaska. Jealous?
As long as the players don't overlook the game,
we can look as far ahead as we like, as fans. It’s not doing anything more or less for the team.

well, go ahead
I’m looking forward to Sunday night

As am I.
