Rams-Seahawks set for Sunday night football in week 17

Sam Bradford and the St. Louis Rams will play in prime time next week.

America, are you prepared to recover from your New Year's weekend hangover with something that qualifies as football on Sunday night?

Well, you're getting the NFC West instead. The St. Louis Rams game against the Seattle Seahawks has been moved to Sunday night on NBC's Football Night in America (Is it really called that?). The St. Louis Rams are playing in prime time in a game that will decide who wins the NFC West.

A Rams win would also mean that a .500 team wins the division and makes the playoffs. A Seattle win means that a 7-9 wins the division. As if you needed more motivation for a Rams win...

7-9 team getting into the playoffs? Gruden and Billick have simultaneous heart attacks.

It doesn’t even have to be about football to get Billick angry about it. “Hey Brian, what are you having for lunch today?” “Can you believe some 8-8 or even a 7-9 team is going to the playoffs? This is a travesty! The entire game of football is forever ruined by the 2010 NFC West. Give me a god damn sandwich.”

Hey

they both have something in commen getting fired.besides if it were their teams going 7-9 or 8-8 they would be ecstatic to be in the playoffs.

Looks like I am taking a personal Day Monday

If they win I ain’t gonna make it home! I can’t wait to hear the forecast. Unfortunately this will pump up the Seahawk fans and make them louder.

JOY TO THE WORLD

the Sam has come…

You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.

YES.

I’ve been harping on this for a few weeks when it became apparent that the game would likely decide the division. Nice to see it finally come to fruition.

go cards, o's, and phillies.

...boiler up.

Did hell freeze over?

Did the Rams really just get bumped to prime time? Wow …. to think at the beginning of the season I watched a sports analyst on espn say when talking about the nfc west… and I quote " you may wonder why we haven’t mentioned the Rams…. well they won 3 games in 07 2 games in 08 and 1 game in 09…. if they keep going which is likely they will win 0 games this year… they are a non-factor"…… now I can proudly say back “bite me bitch”….lol…. we are playing for a playoff birth…. hahahaha

It's a necessary hurdle

This has been coming our way all season. It’s a great test for the front office, the coaching staff and the team. Is it too much pressure? Who knows. We’ll see on Sunday. But either way, it’s something we have to get used to if we’re going to compete year in, year out. Good teams deal with that level of scrutiny every two or three weeks. It’s kind of sad that to face it once a year brings up the question of whether we can handle it or not

Prime time game for a playoff berth, shit-o-dear

It doesn’t get any better than this. For these players to reach this point this early in the script? After watching them all season long, (thanks Gohan), we now get a chance to watch them prove they belong as contenders by playing their way into the playoffs. That’s the best way to get in. It’s this feeling we strive for when we cover the draft, hope during free-agency, monitor training camp, watch the preseason and experience the regular season. This is why I watch football and these are the guys I want to watch. I can honestly say, now that we’ve beaten the fucking n*ners, that win or lose, this season has been a success, and leaves me with great hope for our future. I know we aren’t there yet but we’re definitely on the right track, and it’s been too long since I’ve been able to say that.

Word

It has been a successful season without question. The real question is how this season sets up our future successes.

AMPED for next week.

Can’t ask for much more. Not gonna get too wrapped up in the Seahawks’ general suckiness and whatever might affect their performance. All I care about is the Rams, and I know that they’re plenty capable of making it into the playoffs, and once they’re in, who knows what could happen?

These two seasons have provided one hell of a foundation. Now, time to build on it.

This game might be bigger than the first playoff game.

I guess you can count this primetime game as a playoff game. It’s gonna be sweet! Let’s not let the pressure get to us. I think the seacocks will be more at ease than the Rams. They have players that have playoff exp.

by Skunkburner on Dec 26, 2010 11:58 PM CST via mobile reply actions

I agree, getting to the playoffs is such a huge milestone for this team.

this is effectively the first playoff game IMO. 2 teams enter, only one moves on.

Also, I watched the Seahawks play today, it was brutal. I know we aren’t the greatest but I’d be ashamed to lose to such a terrible team.

You've gotta be kiddin' me

I JUST GOT OFF WORK and asked my manager if he’d let me work later so I can watch the game and he totally just restructured the schedule so I can. Now I hear this?! WHAT!? UGHHH :(

Not a single player on this roster is from USC :(

“Sam Bradford: The University of Oklahoma” will have to do, I guess.

DX not starting

That would be a real head scratcher. He looked much more effective than Laurent and his 1 catch.

One good team playing!!

The article above seems to imply that both teams are not worth watching! The Rams have made every game, with the exception of the Lions game, exciting and competitive all year long! WE DESERVE A PRIME TIME GAME! Heck, they put the Cowgirls and Card-nils on prime time!

I will watch the game, but remember they just had a spotlight type of game with

the chiefs…look how that turned out.

I think the Rams winning 7 games is an amazing feat in itself.

All I want for Christmas is a Pete Carroll scowl on week 17!

I am "very" happy about this..

I would have been stuck watching the 9ers & Cards on FOX otherwise.

Heck, our local TV networks had the Colts-Jags when the “national game” on CBS was KC-Rams (AFC West & NFC West conference teams instead they show AFC South Teams) last week.

Watch my feet Rex, they are very happy ;-)

Finally

we all have something to look forward to after the regular season. idk about you guys but with all the exciting/meaningful/close games we had this season i think my SJ39 jersey has gotten more worn out then his.

I'm glad we are on Primetime next Sunday but...

….what in the world was NBC thinking with the Vikings-Eagles game this past Sunday? You don’t think the Rams-Niners game with actual playoff implications would have made for better Sunday night entertainment?

I'm suffering from an extreme case of laurinaitis!
