Bradford named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month

The accolades just keep coming for St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford. Following his 308 yard, 3 TD, 0 INT win over the Broncos - the first time a rookie has done that since John Elway - the first overall pick from the 2010 NFL Draft has been named the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Month.

For those of you keeping score, that's two consecutive months that Bradford has received the honor, the only rookie QB ever to accomplish that. Bradford is on pace for completing 364 or 601 passes at his current 60.5 percent rate, 3,587 yards, 25 TD, 13 INT through his rookie season. His current stats for attempts, yards and TDs are already franchise records for a rookie.

The record for passing TDs by a rookie is 26, established by Peyton Manning in 1998; he also set the record for passing yards by a rookie that year with 3,739. If Bradford continues the pace he's established in his last six games, he could top those records.

More jaw dropping info on Bradford's rookie season after the jump.

Star-divide

  • Bradford, the first overall selection out of Oklahoma, started all three games during November and completed 79 of 121 passes (65.3 percent) for 792 yards with six touchdowns and one interception for a 96.8 passer rating.
  • During the month, Bradford ran his streak of consecutive attempts without an interception to 169, an NFL rookie record.
  • He also set franchise rookie records with 413 attempts, 250 completions and 17 touchdown passes.
  • In Week 12, Bradford passed for 308 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in a 36-33 win at Denver. He became the first rookie in NFL history to pass for at least 300 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in a road victory. He is also the first rookie quarterback since Pro Football Hall of Famer JOHN ELWAY in 1983 with at least 300 passing yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in a game.
  • Bradford is the first quarterback to be named Rookie of the Month twice.
  • He is the seventh player to win multiple Offensive Rookie of the Month Awards and first since Minnesota running back ADRIAN PETERSON (September and October, 2007).
  • Bradford is the only No. 1 overall selection to be named Rookie of the Month twice.

together

one of you came in your jaw and the other one dropped their pants. Teamwork!

You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.

I am beginning to hate this kid..

he is bringing too much attention to our Rams and we won’t be able to “sneak” up on anybody anymore ;-)

Also, he is ruining my golf game. I prefer watching Rams on Sundays rather than going to the golf course like I did the last 3+ years.

Way to go Sammy, keep up the good work.

Golf game...

Bet Sam hasn’t had the opportunity to play much golf lately either. :)

Go Rams...go Sammy B!!!

All this with,

one of the worst receiving corps in the league. A healthy Danario, a healthy Clayton, a potentially high draft pick, and Illini Mike playing more should make for an even better season next year. And if Avery magically turns into the player that we drafted now that he will actually have a quarterback will just be icing on the cake.

Good

I’m glad he’s doing this, because I’ve told people I think he’s going to be the next Tom Brady/Peyton Manning. Might even be better, but I just hope he gets to winning some more. heh

You read my mind

haha

That is hilarious.

The Girl

Thinks the same about me. She’s starting to get jealous of all the attention I give watching Rams highlights on Sam.

by JTPirate on Dec 3, 2010 7:18 AM CST up reply actions

Haha, I recently saw my ex

and among our important catch-up questions, she asked how Sam Bradford was doing.

by kswiss on Dec 3, 2010 8:29 PM CST up reply actions

Well yeah, but none of those stats came from

Gillete stadium, the Meadowlands or Dallas so they dont count!

Just Kidding

Statistics aside, the first loss this season was the best loss I have ever seen. I didnt even care that the Rams lost. I just had that same feeling watching Bradford that I got the first time I watched Warner play.

by leadhead on Dec 2, 2010 4:05 PM CST reply actions

Ditto

I was at that game, and while the loss was a little disappointing, I feel that I witnessed the start of a new era in Rams football.

THIS year's the year. I hope....

Is there any doubt

that this kid should have been the 1st pick in the draft.
Not to open up that whole Bradford / Shu debate again…..but we needed Bradford more than we needed Shu if for no other reason….GREAT quarterbacks are hard to come by.
And now we have one.

Suh*

I’d let it slide but damn, Shu sounds weird lol.

I was the biggest Suh supporter and did not want Bradford (would have rather traded down) ...

… boy am I glad I don’t run the Rams. :D

Bradford is football salvation.

I can take a beating ... I'm a Rams fan.

Dare I say it?

I don’t want to jinx the kid, but he doesn’t look like Brady or Manning to me on those roll-outs. He looks like Joe freaking Montana.

What goes around

comes around. It just took a LONG time. I hope San Francisco is ready for a decade of hell.

Decade of hell

Love it.

"I have something 95 percent of all those All-Stars only wish they had: a World Series ring. If I had to choose between that and being an All-Star, it would be no contest. I’d grab the gold ring and never look back." -Tim Salmon

by BruinHalo on Dec 2, 2010 6:03 PM CST up reply actions

to be honest

he looks like a combination of manning and favre (younger) to me. I think he has more manning in him, though.

by Josh Wehrle on Dec 2, 2010 5:17 PM CST up reply actions

He runs way too well

to look like Manning to me. And he’s not frenetic enough to look like Favre. The more I think about how he looks on the rollouts the more I think that the Montana comparison is apt, at least on that one particular point.

by Spielman on Dec 2, 2010 5:58 PM CST up reply actions

No he looks like Sam Bradford not at all like Manning or Favre

Sam has his own style and I don’t compare him with any of the QB’s stop saying he looks like Manning lol ,we can say things like he has accuracy like Kurt W. we can say that he controls the game like Manning or Montana , BUT DON’T SAY HE LOOKS LIKE THEM cause he does not

Sam is alot like Elway

He has the accuracy and decision making of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. But the roll out of Joe Montana. lol

Then he'd be well on his way to breaking

Peyton’s touchdown and yards records :D
