Quincy Butler may actually be helpful vs. Saints
Hello Rams fans! I was doing a bit of research, and it came to my attention that with Ron Bartell doubtful to play this week, Quincy Butler would most likely assume the CB1 position. This isn't such a bad thing, strategically, as Quincy was on the Saint's practice squad earlier this season:
New Orleans Saints sign Quincy Butler to practice squad
Quincy stayed with their practice squad for about a week, before re-signing with St. Louis.
Now, it doesn't seem like much, but I feel like he at least got some valuable experience vs. Brees and the wideouts.
Do you think it will be useful?

A week really isn't that long.
Plus Dree Brees is great at reading defenses so I wouldn’t think about it to much.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking
But wanted to get some opinions. Butler is not a replacement for Bartell, but I figured at least Butler squared off with the Saints WR’s more than some of our other depth CB’s. We’ll just see what happens Sunday!
The thing that is scary about the Saints, IMO
is that they are not particularly hard to game plan for. The problem is that they execute at a very high level. Unless we get serious pressure on Brees at the snap, his release is fast and flawless and the secondary will have to make plays.
I think that the experience will help butler slightly but we’ll see how much. I realize that Bartell is having a very good statistical year but does it not bother anyone else in the way that he plays so conservatively most the time? I feel like he will let someone catch a ball 8 yards past the line of scrimmage just so they won’t beat him deep. And the few times he takes a chance he seems to get burnt. I just really don’t like his instincts much as our no 1 CB. I seriously still hope that Murphy and Fletcher become our no 1 and 2 CBs next year.
I think it helps at least from a confidence perspective
He had basically an extra week of prep with perks. He has actually seen in person the way the offense moves, the way they guide their players to run certain routes. A week isn’t much but it is definately better than nothing
I think Fletcher is in for a shelling,
The Rams will roll coverage and put fletcher 1 on 1 I would guess. Brees will throw it to where the coverage goes. I think he is up to the task. I think he can go 1 on 1 against colston or any of those guys.
But then again, the saints might also spread the rams out…that could get real ugly if the pass rush doesnt dominate.
All I want for Christmas is a Pete Carroll scowl on week 17!
Well 1 on 1 with Colsten is pretty hard because he's so big and physical
But how about when we have
Colsten
Meachem
Bush
Henderson or Moore
and a TE either Shockey,Dave Thomas ,or our rookie Grahm in at the same time
World Champions at last

I wouldn't count on Quincy Butler doing anything to help us.
I still haven’t forgiven him for giving San Francisco a free touchdown last year or for being the 12th man on the field against Seattle.
Quincy didn't do bad today.
He was better than I expected.
