Bartell unlikely to play versus the Saints

Ron Bartell, the St. Louis Rams' top cornerback, is listed as doubtful this week.

Secondary challenges are primary concerns for the St. Louis Rams this week. Huh, huh, get it?

Starting CB Ron Bartell missed practice again today, as he has all week, with a shoulder stinger. More ominous than that is the report that Bartell still has no strength in his left arm and shoulder, limb strength being sort of a prerequisite for football players. Given that, it seems inevitable that the Rams will be without their to cornerback against a Saints offense that averages the third highest total of passing yards per game.

And just how does this injury impact his game? Check out this stat from Pro Football Focus about Bartell's week 13 performance:

Injured Ron Bartell was responsible for half of all of the Rams' six missed tackles.

CB Justin King is also doubtful, having missed practice along with Bartell and Kenneth Darby

Ah

Well, hopefully he gets better by week 17…that game will probably be one of the most important games of the season

I'm not trolling, just being sarcastic.

What?! No Bartel will just sew someone elses arm on and tackle with his face!

j/k I hope he can play. But you know the guy probably needs a week off anyways.

All I want for Christmas is a Pete Carroll scowl on week 17!

let him take a week off and get rested for Bowe

he wasn’t going to make much of a difference against the Saints anyway. this game depends on the front 4 getting to Brees and the safeties keeping things in front of them

Better to rest him and be healthy for the whiners and seachickens

(…besides, I have Colston going this week in FF and a win equals playoffs)

The SemenHawks will have more than a mouthful in SF

He played pretty badly last week

Hopefully that was because of his injury.

Regardless, Quincy Butler played well enough to merit the nod over King anyway.

Number 8 is great

If our secondary can't cover then send them after the QB

blitz, blitz, and more blitz. Perhaps we can send Brees’ to IR :) We’ve heard a lot about having BIG, physical corners and it’s time to put’em to work. Blitz like mad and smash their receivers at the line. This should mess-up their timing and allow Long and Hall to get their game on.

I haven't done this since the Rams moved to St. Louis

But, with Bartell out, I might have to pick against the Rams this week.

Remember the great 2004 and 2005 Rams teams...

Gaaaaaaaaah

This hurts. I’ll touch on this tomorrow during TSR, but I think this is a game changing injury.

You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.

Should be game time decision

He was limited in practice, but to go without Murph and Bartell would be brutal.

and King

Not as clear on King’s status, but it sounds like he’ll out too since he missed practice today

I say, why bother packing the bus.

Call the league, and forfeit. Take a bye week, and 2 weeks to prepare for KC. Rest up our guys and get healthy, then win the final 3 and the division.

Pooch punts should be illegal inside an opponents 38 yard line.

I'm with you Devs

I think this game is a HUGE mismatch in favor of the Rams, but having a healthy Bartell would be of great benefit. We still might pull it out though.

Saints have lost to teams with less "strengths" than the Rams

That’s right, I used the word " Rams" and "stregth" in the same sentence. If we get after Brees we can win this game.
