So I have been thinking alot about the Rams season and how things are going right now, I see the Rams winning the NFC West and having a first round matchup against the Eagles in the Ed. As most of us would agree I dont think the Rams are ready to compete with a team like the Eagles I think we are a year away. One more draft and this team is put over the top, thats my stance and it has lead me to watching alot of college football games looking for players I would like to see wearing the Blue and Gold. With that said this leads me to Shane Vereen, how I see it the Rams will win the division at 8-8 or 9-7, which would most likely have us as the lowest ranked playoff team which means we will have the 19th pick in the draft, which i hope is used on a pass rusher or a wide receiver.
Our second round pick would put us in a good space to grab Vereen where he is predicted to land somewhere in the mid to late 2nd round.
The reasons why I like him so much:
1. Cal's offense produces well rounded running backs, this season Vereen is averaging around 10.7 yards per catch and has 3 touch downs. Couple that with 167 rushing attempts with 886 yards and 9 rushing touchdowns. for his carreer he averages 5.3 yards per attempt and has 28 touchdowns. He filled in nicely for jahvid best last year when he went down and I feel he is in the same mold only a little stouter at 210 pounds.
2. I see him as a fantastic compliment to Sjax, hes 5'10" and 210 pounds he is projected to run a 40 time in the low 4.4 high 4.3 range at the combine. With his pass catching ability and wiggle on inside runs. I think he compliments what Jackson does for the Rams.
This weekend Cal faces Oregon on a nationally televised game. The week after they face Stanford, I think we should keep our eye out for his stat line to see how he performs, and Saturday at 7:30 ET I think Rams fans should check him out and I would like to see what you guys think.
another question folks,
Do you think if Justin Blackmon from Oklahoma State enters the draft the Rams will have him on their radar even after his DUI arrest. The kid looks like he is freekishly athletic, I would love to see him in a Rams uniform in the later rounds if he drops due to his arrest, ala Mike Williams of Tampa Bay. I think he is a carbon copy of Dez Bryant if not a little faster.
