James Laurinaitis "Breakdown" WK 8

Breakdown_medium

With the Rams defense really sparking this year, I wanted to do a breakdown of a guy who in my opinion, was one of the best draft pickups defensively that we've seen in many years. James Laurinaitis.

This particular play was the very first play offensively by the Panthers in which they immediately try a gadget play (flea flicker) and our linebackers had it covered perfectly.

Also of note was the play of our defensive ends, Long and Hall.

Enjoy!

Nice breakdown

JamesL and Diggs were good on the play but Hall and Long were beasts and created the turnover. Now let’s take down the Niners!

Wish we’d have more of em, getting greedy here

Excellent analysis; better than the “paid professionals.”

A+

Love it. This has to be the most popular series on TST. Great stuff as always, VT.

You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.

Great Breakdown

as per usual. It’s so good to see great team chemistry, I think that’s been a main contributor to the D performance this year.

Chris Long is awesome...

That was a GREAT jump on the snap by Hall though haha. Man, I love the Rams.

This just shows how the players are playing better defense because they have had time to master the scheme. Yes I know this is Diggs’ first year but he is a vet and one expects that awareness from a vet.

With WR's like our it's amazing we can win games!

I was impressed how fast J.L.

got back to the receiver once he saw the play and took off. So many MLB are too slow to get there in time.

Nice job VT

Things I noticed thanks to your breakdown:
1. It is clear that the Rams are playing true team defense, not just throwing a bunch of athletes around. If any one of the parts in the defense doesn’t work, the Rams will get screwed on that play. It’s the combination of the smart linebacker play, the defensive ends getting to the QB, and the one deep safety that makes it work.
2. There was one guy that bit pretty hard on the run fake, it was OJ, I think, at the bottom of the screen who left the left middle deep zone wide open. Against a sharper QB, or if the linemen don’t pressure the QB into throwing sooner than he wanted, that could have hurt.

Yes I agree...

We’re playing REALLY well, yet still many areas to improve. These are the things Coach sees after the game, and the players evaluate too. No question we’re out of the cellar, and on our way…

great stuff as always VT

keep it up.

i’m hoping for a season breakdown at the end of the year (y’know analysing our Superbowl victory…) just showing numerous examples of how awesome we are and what maybe could possibly in the future be rectified…
