My Underrated Heroes of the 1st Half
Ken Darby
- Solid special teamer, has really stepped up for SJ39 when needed. Has his first 2 TDs this year. Solid blocker. he might never be a #2 runner but he has shown he is good enough for this team.
Has done a fabulous job blocking this season like last season, and has even gotten a few first downs running.
Nolan Cronwell
He may have the worst receivers in the league, but they have played well enough to win 4 games. Credit goes to him.
Is finally living up to his potential, doing his job when called upon as a run blocker.
Really stepped on short notice for Jason Smith at RT. Played very well in his absence.
As much credit you give to Fred Robbins, you should give to Gary Gibson. Gibson has done a tremendous job clogging the middle along with Robbins. It seems like every sack, Gibson is right there. He is the most underrated man on this defense.
The undrafted rookie has stepped up as the 3rd DT with the injuries to Ryan and Scott. He has made some plays, but its amazing how this kid is playing right now as the 3rd DT. Great job scouting department!
He has played well coming off waivers after Chris Chamberlain got hurt, and he has played well on special teams. he also forced the interception by Bradley Fletcher to seal the win against the Redskins. He is now the starting WLB.
Ron Bartell & Bradley Fletcher
You fans know their names but we really underestimate how well they've played. Bartell may not get the INTs but he is such a great corner for this Spagnoulo defense, even when hurt. Fletcher has come back from a devastating knee injury to lead (tie) the team in interceptions. The one stat that is amazing is how many long pass plays they give up. Tied for second least in the league. Such a difference from last year.
Dick Curl
Well he must be doing something right if Bradford is playing this well! Sam is so prepared thanks to Coach Curl. Every time they show #8 on the sideline, Curl is always right there. Hats off to him.

I really dont think anybody but the corners, gibson/cudjo, karney and cronwell deserve to be 1st half underrated stars
Foster and Greco just started playing and really didn’t play all that well imo. Darby is still just a 3rd stringer/practice squad guy that is just producing due to default. The rest are alright but the stars are why we are where we are.
Sam Bradford
I don't agree about Darby not deserving it.
He has done a far beter job than anyone expected, and he has produced this year. You don’t produce “due to default” in the NFL. You only produce if you are doing a good job, and Darby is this year. The difference in his play this year versus last is night and day.
I can see your point about Foster and Greco, since they haven’t played much. It’s hard to give them a “First Half” award when they’ve only played in one or two games. But Foster did save our bacon last Sunday by stepping in for Smith and doing a decent job, and it’s nice to see Greco back in there playing some and holding up okay. Maybe not first half of the season heroes, but still good news.
darby seems to get yards because the oline blocks for him
i haven’t seen many missed tackles… but he’ll do – FOR NOW…

Really? On that first TD
he scored he made the first guy past the line miss badly. Look at it again.
Stating a case for Darby
21-yard touchdown catch. First he makes a tackler miss with a quick cut and then dives for a touchdown after contact.
12 yard TD run. Of course there is great blocking to create a massive hole to run through. but Darby makes the tackler miss in the secondary. Sure, the line is opening up holes that’ll guarantee a short gain, but Darby is the one that converts that play into a touchdown.
I think that the skepticism people still have for Darby confirms his status as underrated.
On Darby's 12 yard run...
He makes an excellent juke on Kareem Moore and just blasts off to the left to make him miss at the end. I think Darb’s agility is really underestimated.
Winners train. Losers complain.

Kehl.
I agree about that one, I’ve liked that guy as soon as he hit the field. Wouldn’t include the corners, they’re given plenty of love on here :). Bartell especially, I know I voted for him on the NFL pro bowl ballot hehe. Biased? Yes, but I can care less.
How has Bell been? I haven’t really paid attention to him nor have I heard much about him this year but I just have this feeling that he’s been playing well lol.
Take the leash off of the offense pleeeeeeease.
Signed, Rams fan.
he's pretty celebrated now
definitely not underrated anymore

I would have to go with Dahl there...
… he is turning out to be an excellent strong safety and is the Rams best tackler.

eh he isnt fast enough and gets burned on plays just like butler
but i agree that he might be the best tackler on the team.
Sam Bradford
I have to go with Fells
He has made some key catches for the Rams, one even made the top 10 plays on ESPN. Although, I would love to see Illinois Mike step up and be the playmaker he was in preseason, Fells has come through for us when called upon. I agree with most of these posts, but he said “underrated” so my vote is for Fells.
Where is CJ Ah You?
In limited roll, accouting for 8 solo tackles, 4 assists, 2 sacks, 1 pass defended and 1 FF.
Bartell - Fells
Come on man. Fells isn’t doing anything different than last year. Don’t forget his clutch drop at teh end of the Niners game. Bartell is a nickel corner on most other teams. I go Saffold. Sure he was a second round pick but he has kept Bradford pretty safe for a rookie LT. I surely didn’t expect that kind of performance out of him out of the box. Darby has stepped in and played well perhaps the coachesd saw that in him in the pre season and that’s why there wasn’t a panic to sign a guy like Westbrook when we could have. Kehl has been a nice suprise. CJ Ah You is just fun to say…LOL
