Rams' QB Sam Bradford up for Rookie of the Week...and year
St. Louis Rams rookie QB Sam Bradford is up for the Rookie of the Week award, which you can vote on here.
Bradford is up against four other first year players, including an offensive lineman, C Maurkice Pouncey of the Steelers. Bradford also won the award in week 4.
Speaking of rookie awards for Bradford, he's the odds on favorite for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Here's what Peter King said about him in his MMQ column this week:
St. Louis quarterback Sam Bradford may be on his way to being voted the unanimous NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, a rarity when fractious sportswriters vote for awards. That's because he's been one of the best quarterbacks in football -- not just one of the best rookie quarterbacks -- since the middle of October.
Through his last six games, Bradford has a 64 percent completion rate, 1,307 passing yards, a 97.1 QB rating and an astounding 11-1 TD/INT ratio. He's clearly in the midst of a special season, setting high expectations not just for himself but for the team he leads.

Thank god we drafted him instead of suh

But they were clearly the 2 best players in the draft, they will win Offense and defense rookie of the year for sure.
oh yeah
It was a win with taking either player… both are special talents… i just think we made the best choice for our interests…. but any team is incedibly lucky to have either of them
Idiot...
…taking Suh over Bradford is a LOSS!!! And a HUGE loss at that!!! That means it’s not a win/win.
It’s would’ve been a LOSS, and we’d suck this year with Suh as bad as we did last year. I ain’t tolerating any Suh-lovin’ round here, got that?
:)

BOTH PLAYERS ARE HITS
KEEP IN MIND TOO THAT SAMS SHOULDER WAS A QUESTION MARK FOR NON-INSIDERS.
SUH HAS PROVEN HIS VALUE, ESPECIALLY IN THAT DETROIT THUMP-DOWN OF SAM’S RAMS IN DETROIT.
EITHER CHOICE WOULD HAVE HAD ITS BENEFITS.
kNOWING THAT THE SHOULDER IS DOING FINE, HAVING SAM AS A FIELD GENERAL IMO IS BETTER THAN A DL TACKLE WHO CAN ONLY FIELD GENERAL AT THE LINE.
I admit I was a Suh supporter because of the shoulder unknowns. I admit I said I did not believe a worthy #1 overall franchise qb existed. I can also admit that it appears that my concerns were over-billed and that Sam may just be a worthy #1 qb. With that said, I will be proud to be mistaken and incorrect on Sam if he continues his evolution as a NFL qb. Sometimes, it is good to be wrong.
Suh has proven that he's not as valuable a player as KING SAM...
…one hit is a home run, and the other is a double. Ask the baseball fans around here which hit they’d rather have…
by Pekka for Predator Pontiff on Nov 30, 2010 12:05 PM CST up reply actions
No, it means half as good as a home-run in this context.
A single is a solid player.
A double is a really good player.
A triple is somewhat undefinable cause its never been achieved by a rookie, so there’s nothing to compare it to.
And KING SAM is a home run.

Suh is really good too
He will probably make the pro bowl. I doubt many Rams fans would want Suh now, but they are clearly the best two players in the draft so far. They’re both HRs if you ask me. Everyone will agree with you that a franchise and top 5 QB is more important than a franchise and top 5 DT. No need to call people idiots
Baseball-Cardinals
Football-Rams
College Sports-MU Tigers!
I had the smiley face on there for each idiot comment...I didn't mean it to be taken literally.
And Sue is nothing compared to KING SAM. He just isn’t. I respond to your comment by regurgitating my previous comment. Saying they’re the two best from that draft class is like saying I’d like to sleep with Angelina Jolie and Rosie O’Donnell the most out of that group, when everyone else is in the Vienna boys choir. That doesn’t make Angelina and Rosie comparable.
That’s a fact!

I love Sam just as much as you and also wanted Sam more than Suh.
But to call Suh a piece of junk compared to him is a just a joke. He is one of the best pass rushing DTs in the league and an all around play maker. I’d say Sam is Marissa Miller while Suh is Jolie. You’d want one more, but would take the other.
Suh’s line…45TT, 34ST, 11AT, 8Sacks (leading all DTs), 2Pdef, 1int (against our boy), 1FRec, 1TD
Next closest DT in sacks is Tommy Kelley with 5 and there are two NT that are ahead of him in tackles.
Rosie would be more like Jamarcus Russell, Ryan Leaf, Ryan Pickett, Damione Lewis or Jimmy kennedy. hahaha
Baseball-Cardinals
Football-Rams
College Sports-MU Tigers!
The Lions won when we took Bradford.
Almost as much as we did. Suh is a beast.
Moron...not even close!
Quit being a hater…and backhanded complements make you a hater.

The only person being a hater is you.
Your reading comprehension skills are lacking. I tend to think that being called a moron by you should be taken as a compliment. So thank you very much, sirrah.
And by the way...
…Detroit actually LOST!!! Considering that you don’t have a QB, you probably should’ve tried to move and draft KING SAM yourselves.

Detroit did win
There’s no way they would have taken Bradford with that pick. Suh is who they wanted the whole time.
Baseball-Cardinals
Football-Rams
College Sports-MU Tigers!
I'll bet they'd take him now that their QB is a bust...
…or at least a disappointment…
by Pekka for Predator Pontiff on Nov 30, 2010 3:33 PM CST up reply actions
That's like saying Rosie O'Donnel and Angelina Jolie are the two best looking women in a picture when they're the only two in the picture!
It doesn’t mean anything. KING SAM is head and shoulders better than Suh. By a MILE!!!
You people that wanted to draft Suh last year were flat out wrong…just admit it and stop saying stupid things like “it was a win/win” or “they’re the two best players”
There was one best player and it was KING SAM.
by Pekka for Predator Pontiff on Nov 30, 2010 11:38 AM CST up reply actions
Suh can't even kick an extra point right!
I can’t believe he’d throw any TD passes for us.
THIS year's the year. I hope....
+1
Yeah…he can’t even kick a PAT!!!

Idiot :)
I don’t care if you were joking…it’s blasphemous!

first of all I define an idiot
as someone so blindly in love with themselves that they insist anyone who see’s the obvious (Suh and Bradford are both highly talented and fill two very different needs) is an idiot. Wake up moron… they ARE both special players… they were a win win choice. Either you added an elite player to your defense or an elite player to your offense. By the way, I wanted Bradford…. loved Suh, understood why he was a factor at play…. but wanted Bradford. So you’re theory that anyone who compliments Suh is someone who wanted him in the draft is wrong…. may want to stop calling everyone who disagrees with you an idiot.
tongue in cheek dude, that's what the smiley face is for...
…Sue is no where near as good as KING SAM though…just a fact.
A hint of such makes one a Sue lover…LOL!
by Pekka for Predator Pontiff on Nov 30, 2010 3:36 PM CST up reply actions
stop saying fact as if DT and QB can be compared by themselves
Suh was the best defensive player and could be the best defensive player in the game very soon while Bradford was the best offensive player in the draft and could be the best offensive player soon
Lions won big too… considering they have Stafford and would not have chosen Bradford under any circumstance even with hindsight, they won huge too
Peter King
picked Pouncey as his midseason offensive rookie of the year.

Would you take,
Bradford and Long or Ryan and Suh? With the way they have played this season, I can happily say I would take Bradford and Long. I hope we can continue our recent success in the drafts.
not to mention...
Ryan would be in permanent adult daycare due to all the concussions he would have received his first two years in the league without Smith or Saffold.
If he keeps this up
He is worthy of the pro bowl…
Sam Bradford drops back, sees Laurent Robinson in the open, and he completes the pass for a gain of 28! Oh- Wait, looks like a holding penalty is going to call this one back...(Oh wait; Barron's gone, ignore that last sentence).
Teams in the Super Bowl don't send dudes to the pro bowl anymore, so I doubt we'll see him there :(

now that's a positive thinker!!!!
(privately, i’m thinking the same thing).
Is there any surpirse that...
Bradford had one of his best games when the Rams finally had some weapons to throw too. I know IL Mike was only in for about half the game, but him and Alexander really seemed to bring a lot to the Rams offense.
Just having DX healthy allows the Rams to throw the ball down field, or to run a quick slant with the possibility of extra yardage. Those are both things the rams have not really been able to do all year.
Now if we can just keep players healthy and on the field, we could really see what this offense could do.
SB might have some tough competition from Ford.
At this point in the season, I wish we would have picked him in the 4th instead of Mardy (though we will have to wait and see how Gilyard shapes up). Ford did not have the “hands” coming out of college but he seems to have learned. Don’t know about his “4 pillars” thing but he sure looks pretty good now.
or how 'bout...
Mike Williams down in Tampa? Wasn’t he a 4th rounder too?
come to think of it, we could have had Desean Jackson from 2 years ago too.
Suh
great defensive linemen. Sam great quarterback. Are biggest team need last year was a quarterback did we get him yes and it’s working out brilliantly. The lions already have their franchise qb so suh was in their best interest it worked out for both teams. This year if Aj and Julio fall to us I say take them their elite talent. But I highly doubt they will so I say again draft BPA because each unit could use a little more talent some more then others but at least make the pick count.

Would you rather have KING SAM or Stafford?
Stafford is approaching bust status…he doesn’t look bad on the field…problem is he can’t get on the field!
KING SAM is better than Stafford AND Sue put together!
by Pekka for Predator Pontiff on Nov 30, 2010 12:13 PM CST up reply actions
I recall Billy Devaney in one of the pre-draft get-to-gethers...
mentioning the problem with a great DT is you can always design the plays to keep him out of the game… whereas a QB touches the ball every single down. Nature of the game, QB is much more important than any other position on the field.
Best Rookie QB of all time...
Did you notice that Sams stats are quickly coming together to pass Peyton Manning as the best rookie QB of all time? Sam has 17 TD’s and Peyton had 26 total. 5 games to go… 2 TD’s per game… and he’s got it! Peyton does have a good hold on total passing yards, but it is within reach. and barring injury, Sam should get the records for completed passes and attempted passes. I’m sure there’s more, but those are the one’s I’m thinking of right now.
Oh, and by comparison...
he’s already passed up Matt Ryan and I think he’s within 1 TD of passing up Ben (check out my moves in the bathroom)Roethesburger.
It's like a day in the life of Rams Homer and Shea Weber in the post.
Sam Bradford drops back, sees Laurent Robinson in the open, and he completes the pass for a gain of 28! Oh- Wait, looks like a holding penalty is going to call this one back...(Oh wait; Barron's gone, ignore that last sentence).
Think about this
in the last 6 games, Bradford has not been intercepted throwing from the pocket, or on the run, or on a forward pass period.
The interception was a shovel pass.
For a rookie that’s some scarey CRAP
Pooch punts should be illegal inside an opponents 38 yard line.
For a rookie?
I’ll bet Peyton would take them stats right about now…LOL!
by Pekka for Predator Pontiff on Nov 30, 2010 5:09 PM CST up reply actions
A shovel pass is a forward pass... but I suppose I get your point.
I can take a beating ... I'm a Rams fan.
