turf show down, Rams miss FG and give up a TD?!
Coincidence?
SB Nation

You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.

nice throw bradford! and helmet to helmet!!
Sam Bradford
i would feel less nervous
if we had made the xp
So throwed that J Smoove jumpin up couldn't even catch it
this is so crazy
how much of a difference Danario makes
Sam Bradford
I dont know who danario is
but i signed him to my fantasy teams
So throwed that J Smoove jumpin up couldn't even catch it
sam or danario?
sam has it all day, but i’d like to see a PA bomb to danario for a TD
Bradford to Onobun!
well id say if danario gets over 100 and a TD then its Danario, if he doesnt then its Sam

Thats why we should've don a fade to him right there
It would have given him 103 and a TD
Onobun > Gates
smart play
3 points puts it at 3 score game
Sam Bradford

i dont understand how these people have jobs doing this....

Pooch punts should be illegal inside an opponents 38 yard line.
One more point would make this a 3 score game.

Despite this being a great game so far
Our continued inability to run the ball effectively, even against a bottom-feeding rush defense, is vexing.
Who else has put a higher priority on a road-grading guard after today?
mine had always been rather high after seeing how bad the interior protection at RG was for Bulger.
we need a beast.
i liked asamoah and beadles in the past draft.

We must stop

"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.

The 2 runs up the gut on 1st and second downs were.
The most predictable playcalling possible. Every single person watching this game knew those 2 runs were coming, and we cant run the ball to save our lives. At least try screens or something similar. High percentage passes.
Seriously, how many times do we need to play this same game!?

Congrats to the Rams players for overcoming a coaching staff that had such little faith in Bradford and the offense late in game.
i don't know how many times i have to say this
they allowed 20 points in the fourth quarter. this collapse is not 100% on the coaching staff.
Well if we were on offense for more than 2 minutes in the 4th quarter they wouldn't have scored 20
Onobun > Gates
We lose all rhythm and momentum late in games.
THAT is all on the coaching staff. The execution is still inexcusable but the main reason IS the coaching staff. When will they LEARN THAT WE NEED TO KEEP PLAYING THE SAME FOOTBALL FOR 60 MINUTES.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
Okay. Love the win. LOVE the win, but seriously.....Shurmur's gotta go.
His playcalling in 4th quarters is literally costing the team wins. It almost struck again today.
That's not completely on Shurmur.
Spags is still under the impression that we can win late like that AND WE FUCKING CAN’T. I don’t want Spags to go at all, but he needs to realize that we can’t change up our gamestyle late in games, it ruins everything we do.

So you're complaining about an offense that scored 36 points
Not about the defense that gave up 33, and 20 in the 4th? That’s a MUCH bigger issue to this team

god we are choke artists
thank god we were up 20 going into the 4th… what the fuck is the deal with this team in the 4th?
if Shurmur gets a down arrow when we scored 36 points (and should have had 40)
I will not be pleased, we can’t use him as a scapegoat for everything
Agreed
16 pt lead with 5 mins to go. Running is the way to go. That idea is not unique to Shurmer. The players have to beat the other team.
It's not the way to go when the Rams have proven all season that they can't overpower the other team with runs.
After seeing Jackson stuffed on all but 1 play today? Why would you think it would work better in the 4th quarter, when everyone knows it’s coming? The passing game had shredded the Broncos all day.
holy crap
That was as unsatisfying an ending as you can possibly imagine. But the bottom line is, we’re in first place with a chance to really put some substance behind our position next weekend in Phoenix.
No, giving up 20 points in the 4th is what killed us
Of all sad words of tongue or pen; the saddest are these: 'It might have been!'
THIS.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
and it's completely on
Spags and Shurmur.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
yeah, players aren't accountable at all
o-line does sorry job blocking, brandford can’t hook up w/ gibson on an easy short pass.
FIRE SHURMUR!
Bradford on that pass had some rough pressure
Your right though. O-Line has been horrendous in run blocking
Sam Bradford
although to be honest, i don't know why we don't go to someone with surer hands
like DX or DA. I have no doubt that ball would have gone to Uh-Oh had he been healthy.
I’m liking Gibson lately, but I don’t want to count on him with the game on the line.
Of course the execution of the players mean a lot.
But when you completely change your style in the 4th it kills any rhythm the Rams had and that has been clear on EVERY 4th quarter we had a lead in. Notice how we move the ball MUCH better playing behind in the 4th? Not a coincidence, the staff needs to let them play the way they have been.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
You're right, the O-line is bad at run blocking.
Its obvious. So why try to turn into a power-running team in the 4th quarter every game? It DOESN’T work. We have proven that game after game. Shurmur should be smart enough to realize this.
not being able to get 1 single first down when running the ball against one of the worst run defenses in the league is what killed us
embarrassing effort by the o-line.
ACTIVATE GRECO NEXT TIME.
So, we rooting for the Cardinals tomorrow against the 49ers?
That way they can be buried for good, and the Rams can bury the Cards with a win next week?
Yes.
I’m rooting for the Cards. If the Niners win then they still have a realistic shot and they’re a better team.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
regardless of whoever wins the playoffs, i'm rooting for the cards
i hate the 49ers too much to even consider playoff implications
I'm not trolling, just being sarcastic.

Probably because of our 4th quarter effort.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
Who knows.
A lot of Monday nighters are boring as shit and only look good on paper but suck. I bet the Rams @ 9ers was better than any of the Monday night games this year.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
Yes.
I still can’t believe it either.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
i know I'll certainly be an interested observer in this game
game means a lot of the NFC west, basically determines who is out of the running and who isn’t.
Yep.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
we're gonna show the cards a thing or two that we learnt this week next week.
namely scoring a fuck load of points away and secondly we’ll have learned to convert a 1st down in the 4th by then too.
Bradford to Onobun!
I agree.
It was smart to stop playing him as much, we need him for the next 2 games BAD.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
i think sam should get it for getting it to DX
but i agree, when he comes in we score points and have VERTICAL element to our passing game, as I’ve been saying we need to add for a while lol
NO JULIO JONES PLEASE.
Bradford to Onobun!
Just look at the yards per average.
8.3, THAT is the playcalling we need, INCLUDING THE FOURTH QUARTER. Why take the faith out of Sam we all of the points HE put up is the reason we won that?
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
Definitely.
And I can’t even fault SJax at all. I never even expected a hole from the o-line after the first quarter. The drive where Darby scored shocked me, THEY BLOCKED.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
Yeah
that too but I meant even SJ’s runs on that drive.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
thank you.
a vertical threat, and a dedication to the run, allowed PA to take place and rip big chunks of yardage. DX has the abiliy to make those plays consistently and i don’t know why we didn’t try it at least on 1st down… could have ripped off a lot of clock or sam could have scrambled for + yardage on a play action play… doesn’t always have to be an incompletion.
passing to kill the clock is possible and works as the d aren’t expecting it.
i understand sticking to the run throughout the game to open PA and appease SJax (although the porous blocking must have been an annoyance)
Bradford to Onobun!
we just need to take what we learned from this game and apply it to next week
against the shitty cards and their shitty non kurt warner QB and their shitty d
Yeah it's just the O.
Never thought I’d say that about the Cardinals two years ago.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
We owe the cards
I hope we do more than just win. We need ti kill them. Get up by 21 and hold on for a 4 pt win or something.
if DX can stay healthy
he adds a lot. to the point where we keep clayton and him, potentially don’t need a first round receiver.
No!
He showed exactly why the Rams need a big receiver, one that will not have a checkered injury history.
Gotta say, having Bradford go to either Julio Jones are DX is exciting
even if it is unlikely.
That being said, we have huge deficiencies elsewhere.
the*
he had checked off two boxes

No way
are you saying the rams are getting attention?
So throwed that J Smoove jumpin up couldn't even catch it
Since Eli
unless I missed someone.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
Damn that has been awhile.
Still too early for Stafford. He looks good but man he’s headed towards being an injury bust.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
rams...
I almost pulled the trigger but i took the gun out of my mouth

Why is it...
That people discussing football seem to think that any criticism or praise of the coaching staff means the critic is necessarily absolving the players of any responsibility?
For
50 minutes, it was amazing.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
add all 60..
those runs to take the clock down were crucial… players on defense should be pegged not coaching
The final drive was great.
If you really give the staff credit for the 2 drives before that then you’re crazy! Run, run, imcomplete twice in a row. I understood the 3 runs in the last drive completely, as mad as it made me, because they had less than a minute left.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
why cuz they passed like you wanted....
and it didnt work
Because the play calling completely
took us out of our rhythm. Be my guest in backing up the coaching staff but TIME AND TIME again they kill our momentum and rhythm with head scratching calls that haven’t worked with ANY of our 4th quarter leads. Anyone can see it, don’t know why you can’t. There is a reason we move the ball in the 4th quarter when we play from behind, because WE LET THEM PLAY the way they’ve been playing.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
if you are losing you have to be aggressive
there is no reason to play like that with the lead… run the clock and leave with a win. no reason to risk losing the game on incompletions or picks
But if it doesn't work
after 5 times and the way you play without the lead (which is clearly more aggressive for us) is the only way we’ve been moving the ball all season then why switch it? It’s not going to magically work from now on, we just can’t do it.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
but it has worked
we beat san diego with it.. and now the broncos… Tampa would have been beaten too if we had ran 10 MORE seconds off.. we were too aggressive with the lead then.. we almost passed more in the 2nd half than ran…
I understand we won
but you call that WORKING?! 20 POINTS in the 4th? GTFO of here you’re so blind. BOTH GAMES we almost lost BECAUSE of the 4th quarter playcalling. It didn’t work, we squeaked out in spite of it.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
We seem to play
to almost lose.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
Playing to win was that
Falcons game against Green Bay today. We did indeed play to almost lose.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
ok well you give the chargers another min we would have lost.
you give denver 2 min we would have lost… we gave tampa 10 seconds too much..
With an elite running back its too stupid to not run… its not shumurs fault oline sucks ass at run blocking..
anyone see the Johnson Finnegan fight?
everyone saying Finnegan is a dirty player? wassupwiddat?
what I do know is that Finnegan should not be allowed out with that hairdo again or everyone in the world should be allowed to smack some sense into him Andre Johnson style! lol
also… doesn’t he look like the boy in Coraline? for all you fathers and mothers…
Bradford to Onobun!
WOOHOO
Bradford’s qb rating is up to 82.1 AND CLIMBING! Is RoY even in question now?
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
Hurrah! We won. But why the 4th quarter collapse again????
At 6:35 EST the Rams were up 33-13 and had another shot at a 45 yard FG that Brown missed. Next thing I know I’m chewing down my fingernails because it’s 36-33 and we gotta punt the ball back to them!!!! Along the way they bombed us for a long TD and slid 2 more in on us. They were converting shit like 4th and 17. It was deja vu all over again. For some reason our offense can’t get a 1st down in the 4th quarter. SJax can’t get 3 yards and Sam can’t complete 5 yard pass. WTH? In sum, a blowout tiurned into a too close game. I keep wondering why…? Is something wrong with out conditioning or killer instinct. Without 4th qtr collapses we could be 9-2. Sheesh!
Next year
after this great year of experience, we will be a 9-2 at this point ;)
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
That's true
but I honestly believe we’ll be so much better with a good offseason.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
9-2 is clearly overexaggeration though haha.
but hopefully 7-4 or 8-3!
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
Definitely.
But we’re still young, I thought we’d have learned a lot more from those games by now but not quite yet, definitely improving though.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
Furthermore, has anybody figured out how the 2-9 Lions stomped us so bad???
Was it Scott Linehan’s revenge?
lord knows.
one of like 2 games i didn’t catch this year…
think i’m a good omen lol
Bradford to Onobun!
Sam's first 5 games...
6 TD’s to 8 INT’s.
Sam’s last 6 games…
11 TD’s to 1 INT.
Damn, that’s gangsta.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
What's with Josh Brown costing us 4 points this game???????
He had no problem nailing 54 yarders against us when he played for the Chickenhawks. Usually, a missed extra point comes back and bites you in the arse.
And oh my gosh were we lucky on that partially blocked punt in the 4th quarter.
If it had gone the other way, coulda been the game.
Anyway, Congrats Rams. We were due a bit of luck and away from home at that!
Now let’s put the Red Tweeters away next week in the 1st half and not let ’em come back.
Sam's stats minus the Arizona and Detroit game.
1,998 yards, 62.3% completion, 16 TD’s to 4 INT’s with a 92.3 passer rating in 9 games.
Don’t know why I’m doing this but damn, that’s really good for a rookie. DAMN YOU DETROIT AND ARIZONA!
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
Nice
win for the Rams. I think you guys are a really good team. Good luck for the rest of this season
