St. Louis Fans At the Dome
Let me first start off by saying that I love my team, I love the fans, but with that being said sometimes I wonder if we will ever have the true home field advantage.
I have been to all but one home game this year, and I have been to many in the past and I have been to many other teams stadiums as well. I have been to Bears games and Chiefs games and to be honest, other than the GSOT days, it seems like those games are in another league. Those are games where you don't bring your kid because it is that crazy. The dome is not like that.
Maybe we just have a totally different audience, but I would say that over half the fans at the dome come to relax and see a football game, and that's fine, but honestly couldn't you do that at your home? We have some really passionate fans, but there are a lot of people that really don't give a shit and always just sit in their seat and never make a sound, and that takes a toll in the Dome. At times it gets pretty loud, but not until a 3rd down or a crucial down. At other stadiums, its loud EVERY PLAY.
All I am saying is that I want it to just be hell for the other team and it's not at all. Before you go and post "well we are like 6 and whatever in the last 3 seasons" well I get that and that's why I always remember back to the GSOT days when it was just packed every game and loud. I know right now we are just earning back fans, but I feel like it could really be a difference maker.
See ya at the Dome and BE LOUD AND ROWDY!

I know what you mean
I’m one of the crazy fans who yell and scream every play. Every time I yell someone looks back and whispers something to themselves. I’m not cursing or anything, I just yell come on defense let’s go o etc. just stay at home if you don’t want to make noise.
I don't love to hate you T.O. I just hate you.

I agree. Get off your ass!
I live in AZ and have been traveling in for about 2 games a season for the last 9 years. I have actually have had problems with other Ram’s “fans” because of my sound decimal. We have to get behind our boys to pick them up. I wish the Dome was more roudy for sure. It’s a warrior sport and it helps when the players hear our intensity. To many people on their asses complaining.
The fans have been gone
for a long time due to losses. I think its going to take a lot more wins before they are truly back in full force.
Yep.... it was super quiet around me yesterday
I went to the seattle game and thought the fans were out in full force. They were loud, they were into it, they were a 12th man for sure. Yesterday I actually had the conversation about how NOBODY around us was yelling, clapping, stomping, … at all unless we had just scored. There was one guy a few rows behind me… and I desperately wanted to get his seat switched next to ours. We really kept that game close until the very end. It was the perfect game for the crowd to be a factor and they weren’t. I get that the team has to win them back but the fans need to remember that they are a part of a winning equation as well and can make a big difference.
I agree, it's frustrating more me when the camera pans through the fans and people are just sitting there
My son who is a Raider fan says he gets bored when he watches games on FOX and loves watching the CBS games because they are more exciting. To me it seems like CBS puts more of an emphasis on pointing the microphones towards the fans where FOX puts more emphasis on the broadcasters.
There was a point in the game yesterday where Fred Robbins turned towards and fans and waved his arms up and down pleading for them to get loud and I didn’t notice a change in the decibel level.
I'm suffering from an extreme case of laurinaitis!
But the thing is..
what can we do? I’ve been to a 3, and it’s one of the most frustrating things. It does get loud, especially in the Redskins and Seahawks game (to the point where we were counting down from 45 seconds as we got our first win this season)
We are 4-2 at home, so there is some sort of home field advantage. The Rams staff for the dome have gotten a lot better for the past 2 years to where it is more fun. But, I go back to the question, what can we do as fans in order to change the atmosphere?
As you said, there were times
when it really got loud. But the noise had no effect on Ryan and Atlanta. There have been games where the QB for the other team lost it and had to call timeouts because he couldn’t think, but that wasn’t the case with Ryan. They don’t call him “Matty Ice” for nothing. We could have had the noise level of the 1999 Tampa Bay playoff game, where they actually gave out ear plugs to protect your hearing, and it wouldn’t have affected Ryan. I think St. Louis fans notice things like that and react accordingly. Why get in a lather when it has no affect?
It also helps if your defense is actually making some plays. We had no sacks, got no turnovers, allowed Atlanta to convert over half their 3rd down plays. The noise level comes both from fan enthusiasm and from the defense making plays. There was some noise in the first half on 3rd down plays, but when Atlanta kept converting them with no problem, it started to fade away.
I don’t know, maybe the fans should be making more noise. But when you’ve been making noise for years and seeing no results, at some point you decide you will wait for the team to show you they deserve that level of support and commitment from the fans. I’m spending $2,000 a year for my two seats and not getting much in return since about 2004. I’m sure there are thousands of fans there that feel the same. I don’t go to be the center of attention like Raiders fans. I go to the see the Rams play well and do well. Like you said, there was plenty of noise for the Washington and Seattle games, but the Rams were outclassed yesterday and it was easy to see it was just a matter of time before Atlanta put them away. I refuse to get myself in a lather on the 1 in 100 chance that the Rams might pull it out, when the action on the field tells you it won’t happen. I’ve done that for years for nothing. Against Seattle or the Niners, I’m ready to be loud, and I did make some noise in the Atlanta game, but I wasn’t really committed because the Rams level of play didn’t deserve it and it wasn’t having any effect on the other team. Sorry if you think that shows a lack of passion or support, but years of disappointment does that to you.
