Mike Hoomanawanui "Breakdown" WK 10
Pat Shurmer, as much as we question him, has found a lot of success running screen plays this season, particularly with Danny Amendola as well as our TE's and I often wonder why we don't attempt them more often.
This week I am breaking down a well executed screen play featuring Illinois (Illini?) Mike.
Mike has great hands and deceptive speed, and has an uncanny nose for the ball. With some added experience and a good run of staying healthy, I think he could find some chemistry with Sam... just like he showed in the preseason.
Enjoy!

always
a great breakdown. I really would like to see more plays like this I think next year if we do add a number one receiver and clayton healthy these pick plays will work evrey single time against any defense. BTW what was that noise in the back round? lol
LMAO 4 year old watching cartoons
I knew someone would pick that up!
Pooch punts should be illegal inside an opponents 38 yard line.
VT you wonder why we don't attempt them more often? thats all we do is trow 2 yard passes lmao
and yes Shurmur is the master of the 2 yard pass lol but we have a QB that is more like a 30 passer ,that’s what I would like to see more of, no more screens please lol
not screens though LOL
I do agree, king of the “dink and dunk”
Pooch punts should be illegal inside an opponents 38 yard line.
it’s “ILLINI MIKE” please stop calling him “Illinois Mike”

Actually looks like Illinois is acceptable

I was getting very annoyed when the announcer on Sunday kept call him Illinois Mike, but hey it not a big deal. I would like to see us start to use Uh-Oh more because he has great hands and he has a huge frame.

haha no worries man
Remember, i’m not a college guy, most of these guys I see for the first time on draft day! But can you explain WHY Illini versus Illinois?

Spags calls him
Illinois Mike. Spags is my hero, therefore I do anything he does…even if he jumped off a cliff.
"I kind of stepped my swagger up. You look at the Madden game and the swagger's so low, maybe they'll bump me up. Before it was a meatball flex, so you've got to liven it up a little bit." - Animal Jr.
it might be because there was a strong wing higher in the stadium and he didn’t want to risk a missed field goal? idk I would have kicked it, Brown is one of the highest paid kickers in the league.

He used to nail those 50 yarders
Always go for the points…
Sam Bradford drops back, sees Laurent Robinson in the open, and he completes the pass for a gain of 28! Oh- Wait, looks like a holding penalty is going to call this one back...(Oh wait; Barron's gone, ignore that last sentence).
Yes, I even looked for an email to email him and tell him to stop calling him that.
Before the Niner game he was stretching and walking around warming up and I yell “Right on, Uh Oh!!” and he gave me a fist pump.
His nickname is Uh Oh. Confirmed.
I can take a beating ... I'm a Rams fan.
I’ve watched all U of I game the last two years and I am probably going there next fall and I could almost swear it was always “Illini” but I could be wrong, the illini didn’t throw to him often.

We should make a list of these
So that you can see the entire season when it’s done.
This is pretty impressive, and I love these.
Keep it going!

Willis audible
Clearly Willis knew something wasn’t right. His OLB and FS are acting as if they are unsure about something and when he saw Robinson move in motion and he felt the defense needed to change maybe a coverage (man or zone). However Bradford and Brown snap the ball whilst he turns his head and unluckily he’s caught out by the timing of the snap.
great as always
i’m gonna keep on bugging you for a half hour special end of season segment :D
Bradford to Onobun!
