You guys are going to slaughter me in this post but I have to ask the question. Lost in this disappointing defeat, was another positive showing by Darby. Has hell frozen over? I can't believe I am saying this, but Darby might finally be showing some proof that he is NFL worthy. During the first half in Tampa, our running game was on fire. SJax was ripping up the field so much so, that our coaches decided to give Darby and Toston a go for fun.
Toston got some positive yards but nothing to write home about. Darby, however, showed me that he had great hands and speed. He took his opportunity and ran with it.....AGAIN. Yes, I said again. Who could forget the moment that SJax got his drum stick ripped off against the Skins and all looked bleak. The only comfort Rams fans had was that we had Darby on the sidelines to save the day (note the blatant sarcasm). We all prepared for the worst, and then...... well the worst didn't happen. Darby was very productive, even scoring a touchdown. By the next game, SJ was duct taped together and Darby was forgotten.... until this last Sunday. My question for all of my fellow TSTers is this. Is it possible that Darby has turned a corner? We have all watched him and yawned. We all begged for a back up running back after roster cuts. Did this light a fire that was somehow missing in Darby? I can't believe I am actually about to say this, but I wouldn't mind Darby getting some more chances. Nothing overdone, I still want SJ on the field as much as possible. However, there is something more to Darby than I had thought before this season started. I would like to see more of him to get a better idea of whether or not we need to go get another running back in the coming off season. Maybe his two good showings were just that. TWO good showings from a sub par player. None the less, he has only had two opportunities and he has done well with both. To me, that makes him at least deserve a third opportunity. What do you guys think?
