With the "much improved" Brandon Gibson (1 catch, 1 drop and multiple missed blocks) out there we should be lighting it up. Gibson was targeted at my count 6-7 times and managed one reception!? Robinson (2 catches for 9 yards) also looked very sharp when Bradford hit him in the back with a ball on a corner route. With this kind of "production" from our WR's, I really don't think you can blame Shrumer at all. He has nothing to work with besides Amendola and Jackson and that is obvious to anyone that has watched the games since Clayton was injured. BTW where was Alexander?
Tampa Bay was just begging us to throw the ball by stacking 9 men in the box all game long and we still couldn't do it. Was it because of the pressure? No, Tampa has 4 sacks all year and teams throw all over them. Was it because of their CB play? No, they were sending their best corner on a blitz most of the game. Was it because of Bradfords inaccuracy? No, most of the balls he missed on were thrown high or away because the defenders were surrounding the receiver. I think this shows that Tampa approached the game with one thing in mind. The Rams have absolutely zero threats at WR, this allows us to bring CB's on blitzes and bring the entire defense up near the line of scrimmage to help stop their only true threat, Jackson.
I did think that we had a good chance at the division but right now I don't think so. You have to be able to throw the ball and force defenses back, it is a passing league. I just think it is sad that we actually have an opportunity to win the division this year and have basically said "Ahhh, we will win some games next year" "Why try to win this year?" That is complete Bull S&%t! Like Marshall Faulk always says, "every game is the most important game" I wish Devaney had that kind of drive and passion. Does my post from last week still seem ridiculous Gomer and Jombari? Or do you not watch the games?
