Game thread: Rams vs San Diego, third quarter
The St. Louis Rams have played a strong first half, leading San Diego by a score of 17-3.
Steven Jackson, a stalwart vet, and Danario Alexander, a rookie just off the practice squad, each have a TD. The defense sacked Phillip Rivers FIVE times in the first half, with Chris Long picking up two. It's easily the Rams best outing of the season...so far.
Two more quarters to play.

the rams are clicking on all 3 phases
need to keep it up though because the chargers are capable of scoring in a hurry
A.J. Green/Michael Clayton/Donnie Avery/Denario Alexander…that’d be a nasty 4 plus our tight end corps is STRONG.

I'll be honest
I bet against the Rams this week – but it’s sooo much fun watching Bradford to Alexander. Lets romp em now
Ok here we go
Cmon Sam. Manage, manage, manage
You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.
Cmon now
Let’s not let up
Sam Bradford drops back, sees Laurent Robinson in the open, and he completes the pass for a gain of 28! Oh- Wait, looks like a holding penalty is going to call this one back...(Oh wait; Barron's gone, ignore that last sentence).
That's three times
Sam’s gone to the WR to start a drive. I smell a trend

I don’t understand this. Half the time they say the player isn’t ready, and most of the time said player comes out and plays well.
Then, players who should be ready, aren’t. C’mon.

Tough 3 & out
We could have made so much of the momentum if we had put a real drive together. We’re asking so much of our defense. Let’s see if they step up.

Two observations
1.) The Chargers started going at our OLBs. Not good. Not good at all.
2.) I wonder if having blitzed so well, the call was to back off assuming the Chargers would anticipate the blitz and play off of it. It didn’t work. We have to get back to the blitzing schemes from the first half, especially on second down. If it ain’t broke…

Sam Bradford needs to go to his 3rd and 4th reads when he has time.
It seems like a couple of times he makes a read or two and then is just lost and he still has time.
Onobun > Gates

Who dropped it?
Sam Bradford drops back, sees Laurent Robinson in the open, and he completes the pass for a gain of 28! Oh- Wait, looks like a holding penalty is going to call this one back...(Oh wait; Barron's gone, ignore that last sentence).

The Rams have to move the ball. Even if it's a field goal, just move the damn ball.

Huge test for the Rams
Up 7, at home, 4th quarter against the Chargers. This is where you want to be.
We have to extend our drives longer. Kill time. Exhaust their D. Spread it out. Give AxJax room to run. Short, easy passes to multiple receivers – Amendola, Hoomanawanui, Fells, Gilyard, Gibson. Let’s win this!!!

My goodness
It’s 3rd and 11. You need ELEVEN yards. ELEVEN. Don’t depend on a big YAC.

The play action is there on first down…the rams have been running it on first down all day!
Alright defense
time to see if you can get it done in the clutch.

Why aren’t the Chargers executing the Rams’ gameplan of practically kneeling down?
