Fantasy football: Start or sit Steven Jackson?

DETROIT - OCTOBER 10: Steven Jackson #39 of the St. Louis Rams runs for a short gain in the third quarter as Julian Peterson #98 and and Sammie Hill #91 of the Detroit Lions make the stop during the game at Ford Field on October 10, 2010 in Detroit, Michigan. The St. Louis Rams take on the San Diego Chargers today, and will have a "100 percent" healthy Steven Jackson to lead the way. However, San Diego has a pretty tough defense that could bottle up Jackson and a Rams offense lacking its top receiver, Mark Clayton. So, should you start or sit Steven Jackson today?

San Diego allows an average of 86.4 rushing yards per game, and have given up just two TDs on the ground all season.

Still, Seattle has a tough run defense that the Rams were able to exploit. Jackson had 54 yards receiving and 70 yards rushing that day. San Diego could be tougher with a bigger question in the passing game.

My recommendation would be to start Steven Jackson.

With Clayton out, the Rams will be looking to Jackson to provide more offense, and the screen pass should again feature prominently today. Yes, last week was a bad one for the Rams, and you don't have Detroit's defense to help Jackson get another 100+ yard day. But, the Rams are at home and anxious to erase the awful performance they had last week. Look for a tighter game plan and better execution.
