Sprint game ball of the week: Steven Jackson
This post is sponsored by Sprint.
It's hard to award a game ball to anyone on a team that loses to the Detroit Lions by a score of 44-6.
Like all those terrible games last season, there was one constant for the St. Louis Rams: RB Steven Jackson. Still nursing a sore groin, he ran for 114 yards, even though he shouldn't have been in the game as late as he was, Jackson worked his magic. Unfortunately, as we learned the year before, Jackson can't do it all.

Another receiver will help Jackson
We won’t have Jackson around long without a WR threat. Short passes won’t win the games ahead. I like Alexander, but he will have trouble handling Bradford passes (the young man can throw!) without more time to develop. Injury recovery will have him spliting his concentration between leg and ball. Devin Thomas is a great value, but he may suffer from the speed of Bradford throws for a while too. Given all this, adding to the WR core, without giving up Draft picks is still a “must do”. Thomas gets my vote.
i was really surprised
that SJax played so much against Detroit. I mean I know his groin is feeling better and all, but even if he was 100% he still shouldn’t have been playing in the 4th. Remember that game against Dallas when we blew them out and we left SJax in a game he had no business being in? He bruised his thigh and missed like what, 3 games?
I know he’s a competitor, but the coach has got to step in there. He’s 27 years old, which means he’s got about 3 decent years left (hate to say it). Got to keep him fresh when we can.
