Everybody needs to relax
First off let me say that I am very happy to see enthusiasm back with the Rams. The last 5 years have been tough, and there hasn't been anything to really root for other than the draft.
Second, everyone needs to just relax. We are 2-3. Sure, we could be 4-1 or 3-2 or whatever, but we aren't. Expectations I saw before the season was anywhere from 3 to 6 wins and people wanted to see improvement. Today was a tough loss for sure, but like Steven Jackson said after the game "Sometimes you just need a good old butt whoopin."
The 2010 Rams are starting on offense a rookie quarterback, left tackle and many other 2nd and 3rd year players. On defense is just about the same. We are one of top 5 youngest teams in the league, and it definitely shows. The one thing I wanted to see this year was a growth on both sides of the ball, and dammit so far I have. The offense has shown me the ability to put together drives and the main reason is Sam Bradford. Sure, he has struggled, and just like every other rookie quarterback in history, he has made mistakes but what has really been a treat has been his ability to really make this his team and show us that we have a bright bright future ahead of us. We have the makings of a really good offense and defense, we just have to be patient. We have our franchise QB, we have one of the best running backs in the game, our offensive line is solid and only will get better(and is staying healthy), and we have ton of wide receivers that can contribute in the future as solid options. On defense, we have an improving defensive line anchored by Long and Robbins and emerging rookie Selvie. Our linebackers are lead by Animal Jr, but we will need to upgrade our outside LB's. And the most pleasant surprise to me has been the secondary. Just brutally beaten up last year, Bartell and Fletcher have become reliable corners and have impressed me. Murphy shows flashes as well.
All in all, too many people are quick to just ream this team, but you have to look at it from a body of work not just one game. This team is very young and is going to frustrate the hell out of us, but I myself is willing to stand by their side and watch this team that last year was 1-15 and like 2-14 the year before that evolve into a team that will contend for many NFC West titles and hopefully a Super Bowl in our future.
Always try and take positives out of something, even when there might seem like there isn't.

Thanks for being the voice of reason
But since I’m getting the first post here, how can you say we need LBs and also say that “we have a ton of WRs?” I know that’s not the point, but we need a #1 WR for sure, but now we need a #2 AND a #3 WR.
No doubt that’s what we’re gonna draft next year, and all you knuckleheads out there thinking we need a DE/DT I hope now you realize that you’re as high as flowers are beautiful!
The last line was just to throw people off. But I think the Ram nation is more in shock than anything.

for the future bro.
Avery, Clayton, Amendola, Gibson, Gilyard are all gonna be here next year and if we can find that true #1 then they all just look that much better.
Sam Bradford
Bravo!
Well said my friend!

Yeah.
I want Amendola as my slot receiver for a fuckin decade dude, I would be pissed if we got rid of him. I’ll gladly take Clayton back as our second option next year too. We do have good pieces for the future, we just need that one major piece.
"If Dr. Frankenstein were to steal body parts and construct a perfect QB, the final product would look like Bradford. He has John Elway's size, Dan Marino's arm, Kurt Warner's accuracy and Stephen Hawking's brain."
I'm OK with Amendola being the slot receiver...
…but he’s our #1 WR right now…that’s awful! I know that’s not what you meant, and we need the WR next year. I’d like to see us get the best FA-WR next year if there’s a great one out there. If not, that’s gotta be the priority in the draft.

If we can land Sidney Rice in the offseason
that would be AMAZING. He lacks speed but that would also make him a PERFECT fit with this offense. Big, possession guy who can make Calvin Johnson-like catches, just not as fast and we don’t go deep often. That way we can focus on making this defense dominant in the draft.

good post.
im not even that mad over this game.. we came out super flat and never got anything done.. stats wise we competed even though we were flat. we lost our hunger but im sure its back after this whoopin.. chargers are gonna kill us tho esp after their loss to the raiders.
Let's see how
the chargers fare on our turf after this butt whooping… I’d take a loss to the lions for a win over the chargers any day
THANK YOU.
Jesus, we all predicting 4 wins at BEST at the start of the season and the main goal was to see improvement. We’ve obviously improved so there is no reason to be so pissy and negative about the team and let us cheerful fans be optimistic BECAUSE WE HAVE REASON TO BE. Stop telling us to come back to reality, we’ve already exceeded our own expectations and we’re going to suck it up like this a couple of more times this season but we’re much better and well on our way. Be pessimistic if you’d like (you know who you are) but DON’T bring the rest of us down because, like he and I both said, we’re better than last year and will continue to improve so stop being so damn pissy. BRING ON THE CHARGERS.

I am a big unsure of which side your taking lol
are you trying to say your a guy that realizes the limitations of this team or are you someone who thinks we have a legit chance of winning this year?
Sam Bradford
I'm a guy who thinks we can win any of the games on our schedule
but I expect growing pains from the team and while I would love to see the playoffs, which I completely doubt now with Clayton out, I just want to keep seeing us grow and get more confidence for next season while watching some good games. Last week I thought we had a legit chance at winning the division. Without a real threat at receiver (again) I’m back to hoping for 6 wins and I see it happening.

No we weren’t all predicting 4 wins this season. The stupid pole showed that 6-8 was the majority. Ramchop and I were some of the only ones predicting 3-4 wins. The sad thing is that I think we could win the division with a stud receiver THIS YEAR. We got destroyed by the 0-4 Lions strictly because we were no threat to throw on them when Clayton went down and also some stupid coaching decisions. We need to bring in a good receiver and go for it. Our division is just asking for someone to enter the playoffs at 7-9.
Ignorance is bliss and way too many people are happy.
I mean in the summer, during the draft and all that.
NO ONE was calling 6-8 wins then, they were considered crazy if they were.

I agree with Jackson too.
All it takes is a good butt whoopin’. Amazingly enough, this young team has not gone through that have been competitive every week as opposed to last year when we sucked it up most of the time. This could very well be what we needed to move forward more. that remains to be seen, but I’m still excited about this team. It will take me all week to get over how poorly we showed up though, they clearly did not show up mentally.

we do have a ton of WRs
problem is we lack many GOOD WRs. quantity over quality would work if we could put more then 11 guys on the field at one time. sadly, we cant.

Current WR's have ability
They just need to step up. Robinson/Gibson need to show consistency, and Gilyard needs to get some confidence going (like he had in college). It’s possible that Danario could see the field sooner than later.
For Bradford to have 1 sack today in 45 drop backs, that shows 1) pretty decent blocking and 2) growing awareness in our young QB. I flew through Detroit on my way back from NY, and there really wasn’t much excitement in the detroit airport. They were shocked as well.
Guys... predictions be damned. We lost to an 0-4 team today. No, actually we were steamrolled 44-6 by a team we should've beat.
The game was a total cluster from the idiotic onside kick that started it to the grisly end. We’ve got a guy that can throw, but nobody that can catch. We got a 100+ yard runner but no TD’s. And I don’t know where our Defense and Special teams went to between 1-4pm EST Sunday. Because they couldn’t have been in Detroit. Who was really in those tightie whities??? So don’t make lame excuses for everybody. Accept the fact we weren’t prepared to play today and got our butts spanked. Shaun Hill and the Lions humbled us. Now we’ve got to try to snap back and take on a sluggish Charger team that certainly has the potential to blow us out too. I hope this week was simply a wake-up call versus the start of another unbearable losing streak.

I'll agree with one thing
After this game, they should build a big bonfire and throw each one of those “tightie whities” uniforms in it.

Amen to that Ramchop!
I’m not trying to hate so much on the Rams, but I sure as hell get tired of hearing everyone saying we need to be patient. I mean we’ve won seven games in the last three years and haven’t shown any improvement up until this season…..somewhat. Now that we’ve lost Clayton, we better start making some moves and get some WRs on the squad right now. How many more ass whoopings do we have to take before we figure out that Plan A isn’t working? Detroit has a worse defense than us and today we made them look Baltimore Ravenesque. As Charles Barkley would say: “Thar’s just turrible!”

I don't think we're ABLE
to get a good, young big time guy right now at receiver. I understand why we would pass on Jackson and definitely Moss. In Jackson, the Chargers were asking WAY too much (from every team, clearly) for a guy who was one more DUI from missing a season. In Moss, well, he’s over 30. I’m sure if we had the opportunity to get Sidney Rice or Calvin Johnson then they’d pull the trigger in a heartbeat. I look forward to a productive offseason this year.

I'm willing to bet that this was a wake-up call.
Sam, Steven and the rest of them had a look of disgust on their faces. Last years Rams just had a look with no confidence and pretty much no emotion at all when they lost, not these guys. Jackson is going to ride their asses this week and win or lose, they’re going to put up a fight against the Chargers. BRING IT ON!
