Sam Bradford (almost) named NFL Rookie of the Month
St. Louis Rams rookie QB Sam Bradford was a finalist for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month award for September, which ultimately went to Lions RB Jahvid Best.
No doubt about it, Best is off to a great start. Bradford leads all rookie and second year quarterbacks in passing yards, tied with Josh Freeman for completion percentage (59 percent) and has the seventh most passing attempts (117) of any QB in the league. Check out Bradford's stats through three games, notice anything?
Week 1: 32-55, 58.2 percent, 253 yards, 1 TD, 3 INT, 2 sacks, 53.1 rating
Week 2: 14-25, 56 percent, 167 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT, 3 sacks, 86.6 rating
Week 3: 23-37, 62.2 percent, 235 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 1 sack, 78.1 rating
As the weeks have gone by, Bradford's shown improvement with each outing. Combine that with the improvement the team around him showed between weeks 2 and 3, and you could really have something here. Seattle is allowing 315 yards per game through the air this season, so Sam could really pad his stats and help his team get a win this week.
September may not have been Bradford's month for rookie honors, but it's a good bet that one of the coming months will be. He's also one of the top contenders for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award, though that's a tough road for a rookie QB.
The other Rookie of the Month candidates were:
DAL WR/PR Dez Bryant
NE TE Rob Gronkowski
NE TE Aaron Hernandez
KC TE Tony Moeaki
PIT C Maurkice Pouncey
TB WR Mike Williams
Check out The Bradford Watch for a complete look at Sam's rookie season and where it might be headed.

Kansas City impresses me big time
They look like an AFC Championship caliber team right now. So does about 4 other AFC teams. AFC will be a doozy this season.
NFC – weak!
Whew!
It’s a good thing we didn’t draft Suh…LOL!

and to think i wanted Suh
Yes, its true, I wanted Suh. I wanted to see an immediate, positive impact that I didn’t think was possible with rookie QB. Sam is proving me wrong and you know what? I’m glad I was wrong.
The only thing comparable to a Rams win is a 49er loss!

I just remembered...
…about being wrong about Laurinaitis in the 2nd last year. I thought it was a mistake to take JL55 over Rey Maualuga, who was still on the board at the time. Yes, it’s OK to be wrong now and again :)

Klopfenstein…what a joke of a pick that one was. Kinda like the Brian Leonard as a high 2nd rounder cause he’s a “character guy.”

The Klopfenstein and Byrd picks
were a prime example of reaching to fill a position need. They were not rated as worth a 2nd round pick going into the draft, with everyone saying the TE group was really weak, but the Rams geniuses felt they had to draft a TE, so they reached – - – twice. Sometimes you just have to say you are going to pass on the position and take the BPA at other positions of need instead. Thank heavens the current FO understands that.
