"For Pete's Sake!" Saturday Edition

Forpetesake_medium

Hello gang, Pete here with another edition of "For Pete's Sake!". I know I was supposed to wait for next Saturday since I posted Wednesday,  but I thought I would get into the swing and make the first Saturday official post, which may be a bit shorter than normal.

I was going to start this with SJAX and the current issue at hand but you know what? Let's start with something deserving... Kurt Warner and his retirement.

Even though Kurt led us to a super bowl victory, I wanted to chime in with the most memorable Kurt Warner moment for ME.

I remember it well. It was a game against the 49ers when we had lost 17 straight games against them, and Kurt led us to a SWEET victory that literally left me in tears. It was the most pleasureful victory I can remember. 42-20 final. That was our super bowl year, 1999. Why was this the most memorable? Because THAT GAME was the turning point.

YES that game let myself and the world know the Rams were back... and back with a vengeance. Yes there were still doubters, but the doubt ended quickly as the season wore on, and ultimately ended with a super bowl title.

At any rate, here is a thread announcing Kurt Warner's retirement by Van Ram

(To those who voted NO to Kurt for the HOF, please explain why.. I really need to know)

Next up, 3k's 2010 Mock Draft, v3.0

Seems 3k took a little heat this week by predicting a QB #1. 3k chimed in and did say he was in the Suh camp but felt the pressure will be too much to bear for the Rams to select a QB.

3k: I'm in the Suh camp as well

"but I don’t see us being able to trade out, and I honestly think the Rams will have a very tough time avoiding a QB at #1 if we haven’t signed someone by the draft."

Enjoy the read... great job 3k! We're all glad to see your presence!

lastly, SJAX made the news. No, he didn't rush for 450 yards in a charity scrimmage game against Notre Dame, it's more on the negative front..

Jackson Accused Of Beating then-pregnant girlfriend

Frankly, I find it hard to believe... it is totally out of character for sir jax and also it happened 10 months ago?!? Give me a break. I even ran the scenario by my wife who doesn't really follow football, and she said "The B$TC4 is lying!"

Personally, I really smell something fishy here. Even though I am partial, leaving that aside, I STILL smell something fishy.

3k thought the story would help his mock draft scrutiny:

3K: Well

"If nothing else, this will take some of the heat off of me when the mock drops tomorrow."

Sorry 3k, it didn't help as much as you thought :-)

That's it for the first ever Saturday edition... we'll see you next week.. and remember... actually, nevermind. :-)

Kurt Warner

I have to agree that the Niner victory was a massive turning point for us that year. At that point we were 3-0 against mediocre teams and the Niners game in as a measuring stick game for us at the time. The following week, Warner came out on his famous “Who Is This Guy” Sports Illustrated cover. That long bomb down the right sideline for the Isaac Bruce touchdown was one of the most exciting regular season game touchdowns that I ever enjoyed.

As far as Warner and the Hall of Fame, anyone who does not vote him in is crazy. Look at what the Rams were before Warner started tearing things up. We went the whole ’90s without making it to the playoffs! Then he had the injuries, went to the Giants to mentor Eli Manning (before he won his Super Bowl) and then went to the lowly Cardinals and turned that team around. They were so close to beating the Steelers in the Super Bowl. I would have to say that Warner is a shoe in to get in.

I remember that game

Not so much the details as I was testing the most current batch of the beechwood aging process to extreme. By the way why doesn’t the Busch family buy the Rams. They should now have a pocket full of money. My favorite beverage and my favorite team. I don’t know if I mentioned this before, but I HATE the niners and remember those tears too.

August Busch III hates sports.

That’s why he sold the Cardinals. There is no way he would get involved with buying another team in any major sport. Gussie, his dad, loved sports and bought the Cardinals, but August is the absolute opposite.
