Conerback Status
Hello everyone I think that defense can really help our rebuilding team and there is one thing that I have noticed as a Rams fan what I have disliked. Every since the 2002 season I have been pissed off with our defense ....uhhh.... actually that revolving door we call a secondary. Are secondary has featured jaw dropping names such as Tye Hill, Fahkir Brown, Jerametrius Butler, and Travis Fisher. The Rams still have Ron Bartell which to be honest with you I am surprised he has made it this far( I have to give him credit He has done a really good job and if I remember right he was drafted the same year as first rounder Tye Hill). My question is what kind of changes if any at that do you think the Rams will make this year to the secondary? Whether it will be draft, free agency, or via trade? and one last point Suh is not the next coming of Warren Sapp, but he is a good player and hopefully a future Ram and our offense does need major work but the Rams need to fix an on going problem that has been occurring for years and years which is our defense.

I believe he was taken the year before Hill
But in response to your question, I don’t think the Rams will be very active in the secondary market. If all goes according to plan, the Rams will probably keep O.J. Atogwe and J. Butler as the starting safeties. R. Bartell has been doing pretty good, but hopefully another year in the system will help him, combined with some better talent up front. It’s quite easy to get someone open when the QB has all day to throw. Hopefully Bradley Fletcher will come back safe and sound and take over the other side.
I would expect the Rams to go for a corner in the later rounds, 4-7 most likely, because they have pressing needs at the defensive line, OLB, WR, QB, etc. Just expect the Rams to keep on doing what they are doing; rebuilding.
I believe in 2010

I hope we get Akwasi Owusu-Ansah in Rd. 4
From Indiana of Pennsylvania. I think Spags can work with him and have him be like Bradley Fletcher before his injury. Great size and speed.
Height: 6-1. Weight: 205.
Projected 40 Time: 4.43.

Help in the secondary? Sure, but
I think the secondary is weak. Most guys seem to disagree with that, but that’s ok.
Right after my top Defensive priorities of a stud DT and some pass rush help, I wouldn’t mind seeing them acquire (somehow) a CB, or maybe a stud SS. Even if they select SS Eric Berry with the #1, I wouldn’t be disappointed at all.
But you’re right about the fact that its easy to get open if the QB has all day to throw.
Other than Berry at the Strong Safety spot, I suspect the Rams are thinking OLB or DE well before a cover Corner.
Only problem with getting talent on your Corners first is that they are kind of sacrificed out there if you can’t pressure the QB. Adequate QB pressure must come first and only then can you realistically talk about upgraded Corners being able to impact the game. Safeties, particularly Strong Safety, is different.
I don’t even know if rookie additions to OLB and DE would be enough to make the investment in Corners worthwhile. I tend to doubt it, but then again I also doubt that they’ll rely solely on the dradft to fill the DE/DT/OLB needs. A good veteran OLB and/or DE pass rushers would be very welcome sights at next season’s training camp, yes?
Again, I think our secondary is fairly weak but I also can’t make a good case for the Rams spending resources to upgrade the DB’s right now, other than I simply want them to. Which I do.

Pressure from the D-Line and blitzing by the LBs will make the secondary look much better next year.
The keys to making that happen are to draft Suh 1st and an OLB second. Then, if he comes back, move Carriker back to DE to replace aged Little and Hall. Ryan/Gibson can handle the other DT position. And we must hope that Chris Long really shows some good stuff in his 3rd year at the other DE position. I’m not too worried about Otogwe, Bartell and Butler if the D-Line is doing its job.

I agree with wat u r saying
but that is a disguise if we do that it will work for a couple of games and when you start playing against throw first teams the rams will be eaten alive check Denver, Baltimore (present), and Indianapolis (past).

!["He [Tye Hill] has pretty much recovered from his knee injury. He had a cyst on his knee he had removed and moved around much better after that. He looked pretty good on the practice field and got almost all of the repetitions with the first team defense. That said and he’d be the first to tell you this if you asked him, he knows he needs to prove himself when the lights come on. This is an important training camp and season for him. Steve Spagnuolo has pulled a lot out of some defensive backs with potential in the past, though. Look what he did for Corey Webster in New York last season."
