Rams make final roster cuts
The Rams have made their roster moves to trim down to 53 players. No real surprises on the list, but a couple of names caused me to do a double take.
Here's the official list:
LB K.C. Asiodu, QB Brock Berlin, DT Antwon Burton, TE Eric Butler, DE Ian Campbell, WR Tim Carter, WR Ronald Curry, LB Dominic Douglas, T Renardo Foster, FB Jerome Johnson, S Todd Johnson, C Tim Mattran, RB Chris Ogbonnaya, CB Cord Parks, RB Antonio Pittman, S Mark Rubin, G Roy Schuening, T Phil Trautwein and WR Sean Walker.
Carriker and DE Eric Moore went on IR.
I was a little surprised by Johnson's name on this list, since he's been a part of the special teams and filled in for Corey Chavous down the stretch last year. Then again, it's not like he was anything special, and Spags brought in his own guy in Craig Dahl.
Congrats to Roger Allen III for making the cut.
What's interesting about this is that the Rams kept just five wide receivers: Avery, Burton, Robinson, Stanley, and Nate Jones.
Next task will be getting players signed to the practice squad...and combing the wires for available help elsewhere. I'd definitely think Ogbonnaya and Schuening will be on the practice squad, possibly Parks too.

i was happy to see this kid play and he was the number 2 receiver in stats (2nd to robinson) its upsetting that he got cut

Especially since they only kept 5 receivers.
Spagamania is in full bloom

more of a playground player
Walker and Null had some good chemistry, but I also saw a lot of missed connections, what appeared to be the result of walker running a bad route or a wrong route … notably the goal line interception that Null threw a couple weeks ago. Compare to the route Nate Jones ran to convert that 3rd and long against the Chiefs … it was perfect, and Berlin hit him in stride. Walker and Null were making more ‘playground’ plays, less precise. I am surprised the Rams are going with only five WRs, though. thought Cury or Walker had a good line on that sixth spot.

I vote Butler
probably giving him the kiss of death, but I think he’s done well in camp. Boo on Null, and yay for Allen III.

butler has ball skills, but wade is a better tackler
I bet Wade gets the majority of the time betwwen the two, being the kind of physical player Spagnuolo prefers. He had a real pretty corner blitz in the first quarter thursday. That said, I really like Butler’s intincts and big play ability. he makes a good nickel or dime player, for sure.

I'm surprised they cut Johnson at safety.
Dahl has been having hamstring problems and Roach looked completely lost against K.C. I sure hope neither of the starters gets hurt.
I’m also surprised Curry is gone. I thought he looked pretty good the last couple of games.
Like everyone else, I hope the Rams have a plan to pick up some guys who can help at safety, WR, RB and maybe DT.

It appears
they have addressed two of those positions from the waiver wire, but weakened themselves even more at WR. They need to cut Roach and/or one of the extra OL and get some help for WR and RB.
