Rams 7, Washington 9: Game photos

Yeah, it was a much better game for the St. Louis Rams. They competed and took a 10-point favorite down to the wire.

But they still lost. As relieved as I am by the fact that they played better football, I'm tired of losing. Now, it's time to get in the win column.

Here are some game photos to relive the memories. Click on the photo above for the full gallery.

A loss is a loss

Another tough game for the Rams. We definitely had plenty of opportunities to win this game but stupid mistakes and dropped balls cost us in the end. You know you’re in for a long season when the lone highlight shown of this game is a Redskin’s FG midway through the 3rd Quarter. Once again….Brutal!

NOTHING will help this team but a win, and I just don't know where we get it.

We’ve got Green Bay and Minnesota coming up. We probably can’t beat anybody in the division. Even Detroit (at their place) and Jacksonville will be tough. When you have no credible QB, WR’s, O-Line or D-Line, any win is bound to be a fluke.

As far as I can see

the upcoming game against GB, who just lost to Cinci at home, and Nov 1 at Detroit look like the most winnable games.

I read somewhere that there are likely to be more GB fans on hand for the home opener than ours, so the game will play more like a road game for us. Does anyone know if this is likely to be true?

I went to the Cards/Minn

last year here in Phx and I can say there was no less than a 50/50 split of fans. But it sure looked like there was a ton more purple then red. I only mention it because it seems like all those NFC North teams (except Det) travel well and have a ton of fans everywhere. Granted, the game was during snowbird season but stil…

Who knows.

I do know the Rams aren’t going to do a great job of filling the seats with their own fans until they prove they have a team that will compete every game. The seats are bought and paid for, but people prefer to sell them off to willing out-of-towners who will pony up (possibly over the face value) to see their team play.

That’s unfortunate, but I get it.

So how do they sell tickets to out-of-towners these days?

The year the Rams won the SB, my brother and I came to StL for the two playoff games there. We got tickets to the first game before we left but had to scramble to get the second set. Soon after the Minnesota game someone decided it was illegal to sell them on the net. Luckily for us we had just gotten a phone number from a seller who had advertised there, when the site we were using removed all offers to sell Ram tickets.

by WestCoastBuc on Sep 21, 2009 4:22 PM CDT up reply actions

They're available through brokers.

Or people just sell them to people they know.

Although, I think the NFL might have come to an agreement with Stubhub. I know MLB did.

Last year, no one thought we could beat either Washington or Dallas

and we kicked the turds out of Dallas. So, proclaiming that when you look at the schedule and “see no wins” really doesn’t hold much water. Did you see Cincinnati beating Green Bay yesterday? Did you see Cedric Benson putting up well over 100 yards against them?

Fluke or not, a win is a win, right? And by your definition, it will help whether it’s a fluke or a legit win. But, I’m wondering, how do the Rams win a legit game if you have deemed every game to be un-winnable? What you’re saying right now is that you’re going to bitch about every loss and then when they do win, you’ll call it a “fluke” so, I assume, you can keep on bitching.

It is hard for me to see how you could possibly get all that from what I wrote

There is a lot of football to be played and all I meant was the schedule looked pretty tough with the two games I mentioned as the easiest. It still seems well within the realm of possibility to me that they’ll start playing better and win some games.

There is a difference between kissing butt and staying realistic/optimistic....

Are the playoffs realistic – no. Is the Offense improving as the season goes on – yes. Are some of the issues we have going to last all season due to who is on the existing roster – yes. Those who thought we were going to have a Miami type turnaround were blinded by fandom or drinking too much preseason kool-aide (and maybe those are the people that piss you off)?. I would have to assume however that they are in the minority and that most fans that really follow the team knew this was going to be a 2-4 year project so you focus on improvements (any that you can get).

If you know that – why keep bitching about it. I mean – fuck – we all hate losing, but its week 2 and you just come off as a fan that loves to bitch for the sake of bitching.

Example. You have made it 100% clear that you feel Chris Long is worthless. Must you bring it up 10 times a day? Believe me, it is on record that you hate Long. If he continues to suck and has 0 sacks through mid season – you called it. Now think of solutions that you can discuss. Saying he sucks every post you can get your hands on doesn’t help promote conversation (the point of blogs IMO).

The problem – there is nobody better behind him right now so saying he sucks all day everyday just comes off as pointless bitching. But if that is what floats your boat – then head over to the espn/fox/cbs site blogs – they are really good for that.

ya know, you clowns that keep using obscenities on a public forum...

…that’s open to young fans (minors) really steam my clams. Show some basic courtesy, as opposed to the way you were raised, and clean up your foul mouths. About 50% of the nematodes on this forum fully expected a “Miami” type turnaround. I never did. I said maybe 5-11 or 6-10. Now that’s looking unrealistic. This team needs somebody to light a fire under some butts that have gotten used to perennially losing. And a lot of us ain’t willing to wait 2-4 years for Bulger to retire and Jackson to be on the downside on his career to get it done. In the interim, I’ll continue to complain and you continue to apologise for the losers.

If you can't take the obscenities

then leave. No one forces you to post here.

Well...Fuck.

I mean fudge. Didn’t know I couldnt cuss for all those virgin ears and eyes out there. Don’t get on a soapbox about for our “minors” about blog ettiquette then turn around and start name calling and questioning the way I was raised. That shit is contradicting…I mean shtuff.

And speaking of contradicting…you just mentioned that you felt 5 or 6 wins was about as realistic as it got for the beginning of the season (which I agree with) then turn around and say you refuse (or “ain’t willing”) to wait 2-4 years for the turnaround. Well, 5/6 wins sure as horse pucky (that better?) wasn’t getting us to the playoffs – so you had to be planning for at least the “2” years part of it.

But thats cool – at least I got you now. I understand you love the Rams (according to all your claims of age and fandom) and that you love to complain about them. So no matter how valid your point…you will just friggin bitch (endlessly) about it to deliver the message.

Sorry, can I say friggin? Cause you know its like saying the f word….

Well... Gor am 77 you just keep demonstrating your heritage and

lack of a proper vocabulary. I’ve come to expect the use of foul language from Tackle. He doesn’t know any better. That’s just one of the reasons most people on TST routinely ignore him.

by edpjr on Sep 22, 2009 12:41 AM CDT up reply actions

My heritage?

What the hell is that suppossed to mean? So you are attacking my ancestory/culture/race now? Or did you mean something else but lack proper vocabulary?

You know, I never once resorted to name calling or any personal attacks to you at all. I simply challenged you on your incesent complaining. When I used cuss words – they were made in general and to make a point (this thread is actually the only time I have used them at TST) – but never directed at your “heritage.”

Hell (does your heritage allow me to say hell?), I agree with many of your thoughts but your delivery of them is crap. My guess is that you are very close (if not there already) to becoming irrelevant with your posts – its all the same “everyone sucks and will continue to suck” message.

Hell (damn I said hell again – ah damn, I just said damn), critism is ok – its part of being a fan. But you better be able to take some yourself if you throw out insults – if not, that just makes you childish.

quit the bitchin' already

hey bud do you need someone to open your meds for you? what a downer! I think your a seachickens fan or something!

by moy on Sep 21, 2009 7:06 PM CDT up reply actions

Thanks for the offer...

…but even at age 54, I’m still 6’ 260 lbs and I just crush the tops whenever I have trouble opening the little child-proof caps. The meds help to keep me calm and lower my blood pressure. Incognito should get some. And just for the record, the Sea Hags rank in my top three of all-time hated NFL teams along with SF and NE. All the more reason I’m still po’d by last weeks’ debacle in Seattle.

fyi Tacklemouth, I wasn't "bragging"

…just stating the facts. Yes, I do have a gut, but fortunately I have big arms, chest, thighs and calves to go along with it. And, despite the fact I suffer from Lymphoma, I’m still strong and agile enough to play old-timers football if need be. Most of my old high school and college buddies are not. If I was trying to impress people, which I don’t, I’d have pretended to be 6’ 3" and 235 like my younger brother the weight-lifter.
