The Upsides
Even though many of us are dissapointed with the outcome of the Seattle game, which by all means you have the right to be upset because it was a huge damper on a long off-season. Let's look at some upsides...
1) The combination of O.J. Atagwe and James Butler is a deadly combo. Combined together of 9 solo tackles, 3 passes deflected, and a couple of key interceptions.
2) There are 8 teams which have more than one interception in the league, and only three over two interceptions. That means we're tied for 4th in the league.
3) Though it may seem last we are the worst team in the league, there are 5 teams that have allowed more points, and 5 teams that have allowed more yards. Sure, that's not great, but it's not like we are that over-whelming loser that the media makes it out to be.
4) Vobora and our starting linebackers crew of Laurinitis and Witherspoon seem to be developing a knack for each other. contributing over half of the teams total tackles.
5) The refs made some bad calls that hurt us on some crucial drives. The Leonard Little call was definitely a bad call, and if Ingonito kept his cool we could have easily gotten down to Seahawks territory to get at least a field goal.
Overall, I think it was a bad game in general, but there are many upsides to look at. Look forward to a good game against Washington, I have a feeling the St. Louis Rams are going to surprise.

I saw the positive signs too
and I think that they got buried under the rubble. I agree with you that we may surprise Washington again this year. IMO within a few weeks we will be a much improved team. Spag’s defense in their SB year started terribly but kept on improving until the very end when they were holding the Lombardi trophy. Don’t write the Rams off just yet.
If we "surprise" Washington 2 years in a row
I’d be very surprised…..and heads would probably roll in the Capital.

Maybe with some fancy blitz calling...
We may have a decent defense in the works? I also think that our offense needs to continue to run the ball and use less vanilla play calling. Please for the love of god, stop having bulger roll out. He is a pocket quarterback.
But
Only one team blanked this weekend, but yes I saw some positives, like had we stuck to pounding the ball we would have had points, given our defense a rest, and perhaps would have played to won the game. We should more than surprise the Skins
I bet
if we hadn’t of had two consecutive penalties on 3rd and 1 on the Hawks 9 yard line, we’d have had some points too.

I can feel it coming
As lopsided the score was, it could have been a lot tighter easily… I’ll say it again… we need to cut down on mistakes.
If anyone disagrees with me when I say this, please chime in; The Seahawks didn’t win, we beat ourselves last week hands down. In my opinion, we owned the entire first half easily but made mistakes and couldn’t do squat offensively.
If we could do something with the rock, it could have been a blowout the other way around.
What has 22 legs and can't move? The Rams offense.
I agree that we will get better but its hard to agree with you
on your “we beat ourselves” comment. Killed momentum with mistakes – yes, but you said it yourself…“couldn’t do squat offensively.” Hard to say we beat ourselves scoring no points. Take a few mistakes away and the Seahawks don’t score 28 – but they still score more than the Rams. If not being able to move the ball on O is “beating ourselves” then we will be responsible for everyone beating us – fact is that as it stands right now, other teams just have superior teams/players/game plans/etc right now.

In his defense...
“we need to cut down on the mistakes”- The Rams penalties did a lot to kill the offense which lead to the goose egg on the scoreboard. I think the offense was pretty weak anyway, but if those penalties had not occurred the offense might have done better.
Mixing that with the tight defense of the first half, and 7 points for putting 11 men on the field at all times (another example of “beating yourself”) the game could/should have been tied or so at halftime. The game plans for both teams would have been completely different coming into the second half. At that point, who knows?
In all, I think it’s very fair to say the Rams “beat themselves” last week. Preventable mistakes took them out of the game.
I guess my problem with it is
that we didn’t score at all and instead of saying every non play that we made or gave up was entirely “beating ourselves” – I give a little credit to the opponent (except when the opponent is the Red Sox).
Damn, I’m normally an optimist too. These Rams are starting to get me jaded…
