Interesting Factoid
"Elias says..." on ESPN had an interesting statistic:
"CHIN UP, STEVE, THINGS MIGHT GET A WHOLE LOT BETTER
Here's a consolation prize for Steve Spagnuolo, whose Rams were beaten 28-0 by the Seahawks in his debut as an NFL head coach. Among the coaches whose teams were shut out in their first NFL game were Jimmy Johnson and Hall-of-Famers Greasy Neale and Weeb Ewbank."
I just looked up the 1989 Cowboys statistics (first year Jimmie was coach) and found somethingthing very similar.
They lost their first game 28-0 (against the Saints)
They also had a lot of their key players as well... Aikman (rookie), Irvin, Norton, Daryl Johnston, Tolbert, Del Rio, Jeffcoat, Nate Newton.
The main ingredient missing was none other than Emmett Smith.
Also of note, Jimmie drafted a QB in his first draft and ditched Pelluer whose stats in '88 were:
245 for 435, 3,139 yards, 17 td, 19 int, & 51 rushes for 314 yards and 2 td
Bulger's 08 stats?
251 for 440, 2,720 yards, 11 td, 13 int, & 14 rushes for 41 yards and 0 td
Not saying we should have ditched Bulger, but it's interesting the comparison.
OH and the Cowboys went 1-15...

So what you're saying is
we need to coax Troy Aikman out of the broadcasting booth?
Your uncle molests collies.
LOL
Just trying to salvage some hope that things will fall together 3k
What has 22 legs and can't move? The Rams offense.
Question is:
What area do you focus on the most in a situation where the Rams look bad at every level of both offense and defense. Who is the best player to build around on this team? And yes; I am a fan of the Rams, as well as the Bears.
In the NFL, It's not how you start, but how you finish!
i think that's a bit unfair...
the D played pretty well considering the O were so bad. being a Bears fan you must understand the concept of traditional ball control and field position to give the D the best chance of staying fresh and making plays?
i don’t dispute that there’s massive room for improvement but I’m taking heart from the D’s play in the 1st half. If the O can get the ground game going this week then our D will be able to put Campbell under pressure and make some plays

mabey that's it.
Maybe the offensive line is where they need to build up at the most. Maybe.

Now that a day has passed
I can honestly say I am thinking a little clearer. Let’s call game one an initial game for everyone to get adjusted to each other. It was the first game where all the starters played all game.
Let’s see what happens this week, and it should really give us a gauge as to what direction we’re going.
Yes, we need some roster moves, but a competitive game this week will tell us a lot.

I expect
to see a drastic improvement this weekend against Washington.

Don't be disappointed
Redskins going to be hungry after losing a close one. Rams D already frustrated that the O was stalling. If our O doesn’t get into the end zone in the first half, the results will be the same.
I didn't say they're going to win.
I just expect a big improvement over the last game….and honestly, it wouldn’t take much to improve upon what we all saw on Sunday.
