PrintThe St. Louis Rams (formerly of LA) will retire the number of one of football's best known defensive players, Deacon Jones.
Jones was a member of one hell of a defensive line, a unit that the current group is no doubt watching tapes of for inspiration.

You da man Deacon! This is awesome to hear :-) Too bad we couldn’t suit him up… man he was ruthless!!
the sack
i still remember watching an interview of him where he talked about inventing the stat “sack” and then saying that before it was made he remembered playing in a game where he had 10+ sacks. Love this guy, and a well deserved acknowledgement.
