Avery set for early return?

Via ESPN Insider

Donnie Avery was spotted by Bill Coats of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Tuesday without the orthopedic boot that was being used to shield his broken foot from further injury, and apparently the Rams top receiver is seeking to return faster than the original diagnosis.

"Donnie wants to go; that's Donnie," Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo told the Post-Dispatch. "I would rather have guys like that, but we're just trying to be smart." In other words, despite his exuberance, don't expect to see Avery on the field any time soon. His return will likely be sometime after the regular season begins.

Love his attitude, but

I myself have felt the same way after an injury and didn’t take the prescribed time off. It led to reinjuring a part that felt ok, but wasn’t structurally ready to bear stress.

Kid needs to be patient and let the bones fuse. Love “Let’s Go” his attitude.

Lived in LA during the Rams and Raiders days. Now based in NorCal, I am still a die hard Rams fan and Raiders season ticket holder.

Our WR's are not that great and was just wondering why

wouldn’t we take a chance on Marvin Harrison? For RB help, Edgerrin James and for LB help, Derrick Brooks?

I've been wondering the same thing

And why didn’t we go after Shaun Smith?
If you are given cheap improvements, why not take them?

Are you sure they are improvements?

Our top three WR the other night looked pretty decent. They would have had even better numbers if Boller could actually throw the ball to them and not six feet over their heads. Put the three of them with Avery when he comes back, and our WR corps might actually be halfway decent. They’re not Bruce and Holt, but who is?

Harrison may not be better,

but he could teach these guys how to play WR better.

My Theory

If there is a free agent that hasn’t been signed right now they either want too much money or are not percived as a better option than what is on the team now. Harrison refused to take a pay cut that is why he is out of a job. James was pissed last season because he was a backup. And I have heard reports that Brooks has lost more than a step. We are a young rebuilding team. I would rather give the young guys a shot than bring in dinosaurs so we may get 1 more win.

It is milk it may be spilled it may be delicious.
