Rams win it in the Meadowlands, but...

I got to the TV about midway through the 1st quarter. It's hard to argue with a win. But, was Bulger actually sacked three times??? If so, that's mortifying. I saw one sack where it looked like he held the ball too long. Then I saw one 50 yard pass completion that looked great. However, obviously the first team couldn't get in the endzone. Field goals as usual. Then our defense did it's best to make Marc Sanchez look like a young Brett Favre in his only series; a 93 yard TD drive including a 48 yard pass completion. I'm sure he's got the big-head now. I don't recall seeing the Rams record any sacks. I did see us gashed for a 35 yard run, but thankfully only one time. That's a tremendous improvement. Our generally weak pass rush and a blown defensive assignment allowed the Jets to bomb us a couple times. But, two Jets' turnovers and a 20 yard loss on a fumble, killed them. I think Spags and co. got a first look at where we need to work hard; O-Line, D-Line and Bulger.  I admit I was impressed by Keith Null's performance.

Game...

I watched the whole thing and yes he was sacked numerous times… a couple because he did hold the ball a while.

We did have a sack which was by Little, and he actually stripped the ball away and we recovered which led to our first field goal.

I have to admit I wasn’t overly impressed but it’s the first pre-season game, and a win.

I don’t believe our #2 pick played… someone correct me if i’m wrong.

I was impressed by Null too… he showed emotion and leadership… I was actually excited when he was on the field… you could almost feel his presence lift the offense too…

Any other comments?

Smith did play

he just didn’t start
I think most or all or the sacks came before he got in. Whoever was blocking for Berlin had a rough night and gave Berlin a rough night.

Yes, I agree on Bulger.

He held the ball too long and looked like he didn’t know what to do with it too many times. He was a major disappointment tonight. While I don’t like to see any Rams hurt, the injury to Berlin gave Null a chance and he was exciting while he was out there. He seemed to know exactly where to go with the ball, and he put it where he needed to.

Ed, you missed your man Little making a neat sack early in the game and forcing the fumble which Hall, another of your guys, recovered. Of course Bulger couldn’t do anything with it and we only got a FG, but that’s nothing new. Then they took Little out, so we didn’t get to see him any more. They also took Jackson out after just two carries. The backup RBs all had mixed performances, with a few good things running and receiving, but no one to help block on passing plays.

I sure hope the team gets better in several positions as time goes on.

Ok, well...

…my hat’s off to Little and Hall. Good job “old” guys! But, they must have gone out early cause we sure didn’t muster too much QB pressure in the last 3 quarters. Keith Null lifted my spirits too. Maybe by some miracle he’ll turn out to be another Kurt Warner/Tom Brady type unexpected prodigy. I’m pretty much done with the $65M man Bulger…

"old"?

Probably don’t need the quotation marks…… they’re old no matter how you slice it….heh….

I have a very, umm...photographic brain. A lot like Ansel Adams but in color and with a lot more, uh.....insertion and pubic hair.

I am not that good with the formations and systems in football.

Could someone please explain to me the differences between our systems (Offense and Defense) this year and last year? I know this one should be better but I don’t know much about it.

Null the no.2 QB

i know it,s only preseason and we still got a ways to go but Keith Null looked good even if he didnt play that much he showed poise and confidence in his arm .

Saw alot of different things in the game and alot we didn't see.

I have mix feelings but its preseason. We didn’t see much of Steven Jackson, thats not a surprise. Bulger looked bad, timid, scared. He may be like where Jim Everett turned into, shell shocked ducking and falling down and not trying to make a play. I hope its just rust. The biggest feeling and it was a feeling was the aggresiveness and attitude the team had. Defense was all over the place. The team was trying to win too. Sounds funny but last year they rolled over. Spags may take a while to turn this ship around but the players better play or I sense they won’t be around long. He is a very intense guy just what this bunch needs. The offensive line had a hard time with the blitzes, both on the edge and up the middle, the Jets would blitz 2 guys in the same gap, the line would get the first guy and the second guy would get through. Though the RB’s were terriable looking trying to pick up the second blitzers, make motions of blocking but surrendering on the play. Its a start, still plenty to work on, but they WON, that is huge even if its preseason. THERE IS NO WAY THEY WILL BE AS BAD AS LAST YEAR EITHER, I SEE THAT ALREADY.

I’ve seen Keith Null play before in college games, only 2, but West Texas A&M ran a spread offense.

Being in a spread offense helps his ability to make passes, but he isn’t used to a pro offense probably yet.

I’m not a Rams fan, but I just wanted to say, Keith Null did good things in college, and if he works hard he may be able to do something.

Good Luck Ram fans, BTW, Has anybody seen null in TC?
