David Tyree being cut from Giants?

I know that the Rams have made public statements saying they are not looking to bring in any more depth at WR, but the Giants are looking more and more likely to cut David Tyree (yes, the Super Bowl winning catch guy). Seeing that Steve Spagnuolo has worked with Tyree in the past with the Giants, I feel as its though its quite possible the Rams will consider bringing this guy in.

Here's the post from ESPN Insider

The drops have added up, and David Tyree could soon be off of the New York Giants roster.

Tyree has had an especially frustrating training camp, and Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News has all the details. Especially telling is Vacchiano's comment that Tyree may have seven receivers ahead of him on the depth chart, and that the Giants are unlikely to keep eight wideouts on the final roster.

Even with a bad case of the dropsies, Tyree could see some interest around the league if he is cut, as several teams are desperate for help at receiver.

I don’t see what Tyree could give us that we don’t already have on the roster. Between Keenan Burton, Laurent Robinson, Brooks Foster, and Ronald Curry, I think we have enough depth at WR.

He went to the Pro Bowl in 2005...

but NOT because he was any good as a receiver but because he was (and maybe still is) a very good on special teams player.

IMHO I would pass on him if he is dropped by the Giants.

Go Rams!

bottom barrel

Didn’t play at all last year due to injuries, had 4 regular season catches in 2007. Yawn.

Lived in LA during the Rams and Raiders days. Now based in NorCal, I am still a die hard Rams fan and Raiders season ticket holder.

“dropsies” and “frustrating training camp” are not what I would like to hear about a guy we may pick up.

We could always give him a shot. If he doesn’t make it, no harm done.
