Wildcat-ing: Random Ramsdom, 4th of July edition
Happy 4th of July Rams fans...and everyone else too. I hope you get a chance to enjoy the day and celebrate our great country by blowing up a small piece of it in your backyard this weekend. Be careful though; it'll be hard to taunt the Seahawks with no fingers.
A couple of links in case you need to get away...
The most-improved offensive line of 2009? - Long-time TST'er Taiko is blogging about the Rams over at Rams Herd, so be sure to book mark it. A good starting point is this post that takes a look how how much the Rams o-line has improved.
Fantasy preview - Donnie Avery, WR - Receiver questions aside, here's a bullish forecast for Donnie Avery.
Where will Wildcat offense go from here? - This one's sure to generate more Vick talk, but Fox Sports' Alex Marvez talks to Spagnuolo and Billy Devaney about the future of the Wildcat. Note Devaney's insistence that Vick fits perfectly for the scheme...don't get too excited, or bent out of shape, yet though, it looks like Goodell will not reinstate Vick this season.

My apologies – I haven’t been able to check in much this week. I’ve been too busy enjoying this:

I’ll be back Sunday evening, anxious to resume my regular commentaries, much to the disappointment of many to be sure.
Happy 4th of July, TST!

First time, and even though I’m not a beach guy, I gotta admit, this was a great way to have spent the 4th.

I have to agree in part with with the analisis of Avery...
on two points. One, Avery is young, very young and I’m not sure how he will handle the pressure being the #1 WR and in the West Coast style offense (quick release passing) he won’t have much time to get down-field past the opponent’s secondary, be it the CBs or safeties.
And two, without Torry on the other side that helped a lot in drawing the heat last year we have a 184 pound, 5’ 11" guy who, if pressed at the line, could be taken out of the picture.
Having said all that, IF Keenan Burton and Co. have decent reception numbers on the other side of the field Avery could have an excellent year.
Go Rams!
"We can't run. We can't pass. We can't stop the run. We can't stop the pass. We can't kick. Other than that, we're just not a very good football team right now." --- Bruce Coslett, New York Jets Head Coach circa 1990s
