The NFL is heading to the Supreme Court
"The Supreme Court agreed Monday to decide whether the National Football League and its 32 teams can enter an exclusive licensing deal with a maker of team jerseys and other gear without violating federal antitrust law. "
If the Court rules against the NFL it could mean, well, it could mean lots of things. Most immediately, individual teams would have to do their own licensing deals. That means some teams, like the Cowboys, could up their income based on big brand identity. For teams like the Rams, who struggle to sell as much licensed gear as the big names or winning teams, that could mean a hit to the bottom line.
