Let's put some excitement to the organization!

Let's face it, the last few years the Rams have been too boring.  Why not go after two bad boys like Brandon Marshall and Mikie Vick?  In between the excitement they will cause off the field, they will bring alot of excitement on the field as well for our beloved team.  We do need a "Grade A" wide-out, and Vick would be a great back-up for Mark "The Belcher" Bulger - that is if he doesn't take over his position.

you should probably be banned

getting the Rams to be exciting would not be to go and and get guys that have had previous histories with being criminals. In a league where the personal conduct policy is VERY strict, this makes no since unless you want to see one of them suspended and then us fans have to deal with it. Once again, this is a terrible post and you should think about what you are saying before hitting “post”

Well, uh, welcome Ramman!

I agree completely….. with your title. Let’s bring some excitement to the franchise. As for the body of your post, I’m afraid I’m going to have to say ‘N’ to tha ‘O.’ Here’s why.

Your uncle molests collies.

by 3k on Jun 24, 2009 9:27 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I agree with 3k

Have You Read Anything this month Ramman? Brandon Marshall already has 4 incidents with the law in the last 2 years, and an arm through a TV for an injury. Vick, realisticly won’t see the field this comin year, and he is a locker room nightmare. Both, guys are skating on thin ice and Goddell has a close eye on them. I have to say NO as well.
Although on paper it would be nice.
In fact, if I was playing Madden I would even consider it, but this is real life and there are other intangibles that are often overlooked.

Mark "The Belcher" Bulger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s so funny!! And creative!!!! And makes total sense!!!!! And is spelled correctly!!!!!

Wish I had thought of that one first!!!

I have a very, umm...photographic brain. A lot like Ansel Adams but in color and with a lot more, uh.....insertion and pubic hair.

by Tackle Box on Jun 24, 2009 1:06 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

No

I’d be fine getting these guys… if they weren’t in trouble with the law. Marshall and Vick have had too much controversy surrounding them. I would not be happy if the Rams signed either one of them, and my anger would be worse if the Rams signed both players.

Welcome to Baseball Heaven.

by zoomzoomj88 on Jun 24, 2009 7:40 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Come on guys, think outside the box a little....

Randy Moss had some troubles with the law. He was arrested for smoking weed and if I’m not mistaken, he hit a police officer with a car. Remember that? Did that stop the Pats from taking a chance on him and the team breaking all kinds of records? No.

Ray Lewis stabbed a man in a club. Yes, he stabbed them but someone else took the fall. Did that stop the Ravens from keeping him on board and winning a championship? No.

We all have troubled pasts and things we would like to forget. However, the best teams in this league find a way to bring the good out of the player and limit the bad from showing. If they have skill and they fit our system, then I say give them a chance.

And I hope that none of you would be a GM and have a talent like Barry Sanders or even Marshall Faulk on your team. The minute they mess up or do something wrong, would you cut them? I hope to God you wouldn’t.

On this team, we are all united in a common goal: to keep my job.

You have to

put in perspective!
First off he didn’t hit a a cop, it was a parking enforcement officer (yeah ticket lady and he nudged with his car to get her out of the way). In addition to that, he went into an established situation where the Locker room & Chemistry was well established with many veterans. Not to mention when you win, your mindset is completely different. WIth him going to a championship team, it was easier for him to adapt than to be a destructive force within.
In Ray Lewis’s case he was the man that set the tone in the locker room, and lets be honest here, who would question or go against what that man says or expects. He is a beast and he stabs people, I’d listen!
Our situation is different. We have a very young, easily influenced group of clay. You are going to want to mold to your liking and eventually, once the mindset is established, then you can take a chance on problem players. Right now, the last thing you want to do is introduce a virus to a young core that will set you back a couple of years.

by CaliRamMan on Jun 26, 2009 12:22 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Absolutely correct

You hit it on the head. Talent we need, but you don’t poison the seeds of your foundation early on like that. This isn’t the right team at the right time for doing that and it’d be net subtraction from the whole winning process.
Adding a Moss has to be seen in context, just as you pointed out. What these guys are asking for is excitement that would come in a bad way. Like, yeah I thought it was pretty exciting that Burress shot himself. It was exciting to see Vick go on trial. It’d be exciting when Matt Jones pulls down a federal drug case one day, too.
Besides…and maybe you don’t think this is true but I certainly do….Vick has been gone for 2 years and is NOT ready to win with his legs this year like he did in years past. It’ll take him a while to get back to what he was, if he ever can. Taking Vick right now would be a 2 year timeline at least, and in that 2 years his huge ego will probably become a distraction because he isn’t “the man” for the first time in his life.
Bottom line on Vick playing anywhere, he never had elite read-and-deliver type of skill and needs time to get his legs back.

I want Vick ……or another QB with some balls. There is no excitement in our QB for sure.

by ramsmom on Jun 26, 2009 12:30 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Gee, you'd be a great fit as GM with the Raiders.

Let’s put short term “excitement” over building a team the right way.

by andyrose on Jun 26, 2009 2:25 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

so exciting seeing our qb afraid to thow and losing over and over.

by ramsmom on Jun 29, 2009 12:04 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Give him an O-line and he’ll be fine. This line has been composed of paper the past couple of years.

I am not sure of Bulger’s contract, but he is going to be a good QB for two more years, IMHO; assuming he has protection.

I love this team.

Please find only nice sweet guys for the Rams!!!

Winning in the NFL is overrated. And, so what if nice guys finish last? I mean, maybe I can get to where I’ll actually enjoy 3-13 and 2-14 seasons? Heck, Detroit must be a team of swell guys since they just set the mark at 0-16. Maybe I can pay Direct TV this year to watch the Rams drop 16 games. It’s certainly ok as long as they’re “good” losers. And just banish those rowdy guys like Ray Lewis, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Mike Vick, Brandon Marshall, etc. And, while we’re at it, don’t forget Leonard Little. With his police record and conviction, we certainly wouldn’t want him on our team. He should’ve been gone years ago. Heck, we could change our team’s name too, except “Saints” is already taken…

by edpjr on Jun 26, 2009 7:50 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

hahaha....

Well said. We need intensity. I’m sick of our Rams being pushovers. I don’t care if our guys get in trouble, as long as they produce on the field and have some attitude. NICE GUYS ALWAYS FINISH LAST. In other words, the Rams were the second nicest team in the league last year. :-)

The Steelers have a reputation for playing dirty…and winning.

I'll take Vick, but not to replace Bulger

Lets see if I’m scoring this right. I agree with epdjr, ramman, ramsmom, and ramsman83. I disagree with jombari, caliramman, zoomzoom, andyrose and, once again coachconnors. Nothing personal but I’m sure you’ll take it that way.
That link you referred us to is right on 3k, I just think it’s all overrated. I especially agree with the interpretation of the 4 pillars. I just think that certain players’ skill levels are worth giving them a whirl. With our record, what do we have to lose. I live 2000 miles away so I could give a crap about their character. Any coach who can’t handle locker room problems isn’t worthy of all the praise and trust being heaped on the new staff.
So yes to Vick and yes to Burress. Even I would pass on Marshall though. There will never be another Marshall.

I think you missed a person or two

on the side of those with whom you disagree about Vick. How about adding Roger Goodell and all 32 NFL teams? He is not going to be playing for anyone in the NFL this year. Maybe some things do matter more than athletic talent.

how many times..

are we going to have the same conversation?

The greatest thing that WE as Rams fans can do at this point is GO to the games. Get our friends to go the games. Buy a jersey from the team store. Visit the official site.

The organization is taking a strategy of patience. We should do the same. But we need to let it be known that there is very strong contingent of us.. and we’re quietly putting targets on the backs of the Seattle Squak, the Arizona Five’ O Clock Shadows, and the San Francisco Can’t Coach’ems.

IF

I was making my own team on Madden 09 (don’t know if you can make your own) then maybe i’d do it. In real life – no thank you.

And once again, move on from this damn topic, they’re not signing any of those guys.

I have a better idea

Why don’t you guys just move on without us?

by dbcouver on Jun 29, 2009 1:33 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

i'm just saying

why live in “dreamland” knowing that it’s not going to happen, we should start a thread “Tom Brady, Calvin Johnson and Troy Polamalu to the Rams?”

Why keep talking about something that isn't going to happen?

The latest is it looks like the league is going to put Vick and Burress on the Indefinite Suspension list along with Stallworth. It’s likely neither of them is going to be allowed to play for anyone in the league this year. They probably will stay there until they convince the commissioner they know they were wrong, they are truly sorry for doing something so dumb, and they convince him they won’t get in any more trouble. What are their odds?

by andyrose on Jun 29, 2009 10:46 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

effing thank you

It’s not happening, move on.

Sometimes we need a little...

…“comic relief” on TST. After the last two seasons, anything funny is welcomed. I particularly like the “excrement” and “crappy” wise cracks. They both could be adjectives for the level of the Rams’ play in 2007 and 2008.
