Vick to Rams
Rams should take Vick because he paid his debt to a society that has not sent any other person to federal prison for dog ring or for killing animals. It is still happening and what is PEDA doing about it. NOTHING!!!! Thinking that they can control someones life. Vick went to prison for nothing and society is owed nothing from him. HOW about
he is the best athelete QB out there and he is right for the RAMS.. Vick did nothing wrong because if he did then society and PEDA would have resolved it a long time ago. So, has PEDA taken up any other animal issues since Vick NOOOOOOO!!!!!

i want to be clear...
I believe that at it’s core, PETA is an awfully misguided, bordering on cult-like psychotic organization…but come on. It’s PETA. Not PEDA.
Maybe Tom Brady will crucify an otter, though? I’d take him.

No
Vick was a great athlete before he was sent to prison. Problem was he was not a great quarterback. Sure he was a threat to scramble for a touchdown every time he droped back but he was only had about a 50% chance to complete the pass he was trying to throw. Plus I always get nervous when my quarterback is chased by linebackers. I am fine with him comming back and playing in the league. But not as quarterback for the rams. WR KR RB i will give him a shot. I dont think any of the upper management or coaches will though. And PETA is a bunch of crazys anyway.
It is milk it may be spilled it may be delicious.

Anything that pisses off PETA makes me happy
I hope Vick is reinstated in the NFL and wins MVP. If he was a Ram, with those legs of his AND Jax in the backfield, we’d drive opposing defenses crazy running all over the field. Vick also appeared to have tremendous arm strength. That’s something our $65M QB lacks.

I suspect he would drive our coaches crazy,
not the other team. And great arm strength doesn’t mean anything when he has no idea where the ball is going. His accuracy was always pitiful.

He adds an element of speed and surprise that opposing defenses would have to respect. My guess is Vick would win the starting QB job in no time.

yeah
I kinda agree, let him play. It is totally inhumane what he did, but they NFL and the court system has made a good enough example of him as is, I think he’s paid his debt. Still…..no to him going to the rams.

I just don’t think that they want Vick leading their team, I suppose.
It’s kinda like Tebow, since they both run with the ball, they can probably play another position

Depending on the number of teams genuinely interested in his services
for all the obvious reasons, I ’m not sure Vick would be in a position to “demand” a whole lot – including what position/role he is signed to play.

Its either get a player fits the system, or design a system around the player
IMHO, Rams should leave Vick alone because he doesn’t fit what they’re trying to do. He never was a read and deliver kind of QB.
I don’t think you go out and get a player who relied solely on his athleticism, and is now 2 years removed from professional training, and teach him a new position or create a new system to fit him. Learning curve would be steep, dude’s not a genuis.
Spags says they have installed 80% of the game plan. At this point we need to get players who fit that system, (such as a QB with quick release and high accuracy) not the other way around.
Someone will sign him, but I think he’d set us back, no matter which way you went with him.
Besides, giving BJs to hound dogs and posting pictures of it online is inexcusable.

hmm
I remember when I used to watch Michael Vick play football.. He’s an accurate quarter back when it’s short passes. I never liked him throwing a long ball. But I think he’d have to give up the running so much and improve his game at quarterback. He should go prove he can play still and play for the new football league. Then teams should think about signing him. Wherever he goes I hope he does good and shows he’s a better person. America gives second chances.

I completely agree
I hope he does well and becomes the paradigm to follow. I’m just not willing to risk the money and the viral infection he could bring to a clubhouse on him. We have too many other things to work on that he could possibly bring down. But that doesn’t mean I’m not pulling for him to become a success story.

I am fine with him going to the Rams , actually would love it! someone has to step up when Bulger get his many concussions. A decent back up would be a dream come true for us. And any way its not like he tortured poodles, he served his time get over it.

So he served his time.
He still has a long way to go to prove he is a changed man. Unless and until he can prove that, I don’t think the Rams need the distraction. Dallas has a really great record picking up these guys that supposedly have learned from their mistakes. Are any of them still there? The Cowboys’ record has gone down since they started signing these thugs.

You guys can continue to piss and moan all you want...
.we’re too noble a organization to bring in an axe murderer like Vick. But my guess is that if you had serious $$$ bet on the Rams to win, you’d secretly want Vick at QB instead of Bulger. Everybody forgave Leonard Little and Ray Lewis, but nobody wants to give dog-man Vick a second chance. Even though he’s younger, stronger, faster, can out throw and run rings around our current $65M QB.
by edpjr on Jun 18, 2009 8:50 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
no way
Vick just is not that good a QB. His best QB skills were never as good as Bulger’s except for the legs.
Chris Carter used to be a cocaine fiend. Got past it, went on the have a great (clean) career.
Spending time in prison doesn’t mean Vick has changed or learned anything. I’m probably biased though, because I honestly couldn’t stand him or Marcus even before the dog thing got out. They’re both A holes, ask anyone who’s had to talk to them for a living.
And then, I have a pit bull too, who protects me with his very life, and I’ll never think Vick deserves any better than a kick in the face. Sorry, thats just my feeling on him. I dont care if its fair.

I don't think Vick and me would ever be buddies...
But I don’t have to like the guy personally to have seen enough to know he can play football. I learned that fact the hard way when he ran all over us and threw at will during our LAST appearance in the playoffs. If you were an opposing team, what would scare you more, seeing Vick and Jax on offense or Bulger and Jax? One QB can kill you by scrambling, running or throwing while the other is virtually immobile and throwing off his back foot. When you’re 5-27 over the last two seasons, try anything….

The Rams have been boring the last few years. We need some excitement to draw attention to our beloved team. Why not go after these two bad boys? Lord knows we need a grade A wide-out, with Brandon Marshall. and Mile Vick would be quite a back-up for Mark Bulger, if he doesn’t end up taking over his job.

OH yeah
Hows that goin for ya so far. I’m tired of hearing that he doesn’t fit the system, or that he doesn’t fit in with the righteous of society. Vicks situation is an example of what I think, and thats just my opinion, is a problem we have right now. We have these self-induced guidelines or requirements, of players before we might sign them.
Don’t you think Vick can help at all? If not Vick then who? Vick is the kind of player who did have a system designed around him, but no way you can convince me he requires that. I bet he’d be a good get if it happened. It probably won’t but I’d bet it would work out just fine.
The notion that hes "just not that good of QB’ is just ignorant. Try telling that to the Defensive coordinators who’ve had to plan against him. I’m sure he wouldn’t demand anything but an opportunity to play, like gorams said.
Don’t get me wrong. I know the league is clamping down on player behavior. I just don’t see the value in taking these guidelines any further. Using some common sense, we need to open our minds a little.
by dbcouver on Jun 24, 2009 11:43 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Where has Vick played that the team DIDN’T plan their whole system around his running-QB skills? Nowhere. Because it’s required if you want to start him and win with him.
I think its common knowledge that Vick can’t read and deliver passes as good as half the starters in the NFL. Its not ignorant, its a fact. Sure he can help in a very limited way since he can’t go from 2 years in prison to elite NFL runner right away.
But to start him on a regualr basis you definitely would have to build the system around that because he can’t read and pass on that level…..just like Vince Young can’t…..same problem, different guy. Although Vick is a superior running QB to Young, they both fall short on the read and pass side and everyone knows it. (except maybe you and his homies in ATL)
My prediciton: whoever picks him up will make this choice/adjustment— either play him in limited sitations, or design most of your offensive scheme around his legs. Doing the latter will require waiting at least a year before fully implementing because he aint ready this year.
That’s my prediciton, it’ll stay right there for you to read whe it comes true. You can stop back by here and give me my props when it happens.

You may be right
If the team he goes to has no better alternative than to design around him, it’ll happen, as it should.
The best situation for Vick is to go to a team that has other options. I thought it was common knowledge that we HAVE other options. No, we don’t need him. But to bring him in as a offensive option in ADDITION to Bulger. I think Bulger has no more than 2 years left in him I’ve made no secret of that, but I never thought Vick would be our answer at QB.
Your prediction WON’T come true if he goes to a team with a solid offense already. I’m not making any predictions, but if a team picks him up and fails on offense with him, it will be more because they were already offensively challenged. The same inadequacies will apply. Any team that bows down to demands of him being the starter or designing the offense to maximize his skills at the cost of any dignity, is, by definition, pathetic already, thereby making that brave prediction of yours come true. I guess this is where we disagree isn’t it?
If he goes to a team like us your prediction will be in jeopardy. Bulger, sad as he is, is good enough to keep his starting position even with Vick. Likewise many other QBs of teams whom could use Vicks services. Doesn’t mean he’s not good at what he does. Doesn’t mean he can’t be a better version of Randall El. Imagine him as a return man.
I wouldn’t bother with this if he didn’t come real cheap. I wouldn’t be willing to pay him much at all. I wouldn’t bother with him the first time he bitched about his role. I would make accepting a role position and being a complete choir boy contractual requirements.
If he screws up the next team he’s on, consider this your props right here. I have a life and will probably miss it when it happens, Then of course, you will call me out at that time and suggest we fight or something.

Right, and they'll likely regret it.
Think about Mike Vick’s crazy legs and strong arm while Marc Bulger is throwing INTs off his back foot this season. I’m surprised that I seem to be the only Ram fan that remembers the lowly Vick and the Falcons stomping our asses by 40 points in our last playoff appearance.

Some smart team will take him eventually. Maybe Denver, SF, Redskins, Tenn, GB…? It will happen and he’ll likely get the chance to kick our butts again someday. btw, Vick did make it to the NFC Championship game once after demolishing us. How many times has Bulger got the Rams that far???

Agree, but...
Spags and Bulger might fly us right back to last place too. Whereas Vick and Jax together in the same backfield would probably drive defenders crazy constantly wondering which one of them would be running which way. Plus we’ve got our new “improved” O-Line and Karney to block for them. Now we’ll never know….

Bulger’s 32 and been beat up. I think they looked long and hard at the QB’s available this year and next, and decided next year would be better pickens. I think taking J Smith was effectively a vote against Mark Sanchez.

vick sucks
I don’t know why people think Vick is a good quarterback. He looks more like a running back to me, one that fumbles atleast once a game. He barely completes 50% of his passes. I would rather have my grandma throw the ball than that clown. Bulger is a better passer than he ever thought of being. Even with these last couple years of inconsistency, I think Bulger could be one of the elite quarterbacks in the league. It wasn’t that long ago that he was.

Enuff's enuff.
Okay, okay, we get it!!! Vick did a vehwy, vehwy bad ting an he dorry. He will neva huyt an andimal eva agin!! Nope.. he… won’t!!
What’s up with this dictator of a commisioner the sanctimonious God-dell saying he don’t think Vick is sorry for what he’s done?! He wants Vick to KNOW he did a bad thing. Come the hell on!!! They say the best way to hurt a man is hit him in his pockets….but in Vick’s case, his pockets, his pride, his family, darn near everything!! PEDA,( where were they when those dogs died in Katrina or when an old woman was attacked by one?) and the two-faced media has done enough to humble the man, let him play!!
Personally, I like to see Vick play with the Rams. But due to the Tony Banks days, that might not be. Sure he may be a running quarterback, but with a wack offensive line he had, mediocre wide receivers except Crumpler(he’s a TE!!) I’d be running too!! If Iget popped, I want to see it coming!! I mean, those wide receivers on the Falcons JUST NOW emerged!! I often thought if Vick had Bruce and Holt and Proehl, how would that be. But we’ll never know.
I’m going to quote something from the great QBs. (Some of em’ anyway)
Chris Chandler: When I look at Warner and the Rams, I see protection.
Steve Young: Unadulterated hatred. (Joking)
So you see, if you have a great supporting cast, you’d best believe you’ll have a winning team. I like Bulger, I’d like to see him have a QB that can back him up too. But he was good when he had protection. but see what happened to him with a wack offensive line? What did he start doing? RUNNING!! I don’t blame him. (Not as much as Vick though)
I’m not saying Vick is the QB god, because he did need some fine tuning (but then again, who doesn’t?) all I’m saying is Vick never really had an opportunity to prove himself. Although he bought alot of this on himself. I believe in justice. But this about God-dell and other bandwagon-knot- hugging-sanctimonious-hypocrital-sheeple are constantly doing is lunacy. The same people talkin trash about Vick and that dog-fighting thing are the same ones living in glass houses. The commisioner’s lucky Cochran’s not alive! Let the man play. We let far more heinous acts of society slide than this. Do the right thing. Let the man play.

I think it has nothing to do with whether Vick personally learned anything. I think it has everything to do with the value of the league and their ability to market themselves, and in Goodell’s estimation it needs to be distanced from the stuff Vick and others have done. That’s all. It’s business, nothing personal. Most people actually don’t share your view of “its ok now” or there wouldn’t be a problem with letting him play.
In Hollywood they say any publicity is good publicity but this kind of controversy detracts form the league’s value. And it is a controversy because just look how this board has been contra-versing over it.
