Colbert Super Bowl prediction for '09
In Stpehen Colbert's book, he predicts the outcomes of the next 25 Super Bowls or so. In 2009, he picked the Rams to beat the Broncos 42-35. Obviously, this is a bit unrealistic; there is no way that the Broncos could put up 35 on our defense. I have to give Colbert credit for his foresight into the '09 Super Bowl champion. It will be a travesty if Colbert continues to be correct because he predicts that the 2022, 2023, and 2034 Super Bowls will all be canceled.

The Lions could put 35 on our defense unless....
there’s a big change from the last two years. I don’t think adding just Butler and Lauranaitis will be enough. Our D-Line stinks at rushing the passer and stopping the run. We’re still short one LB and you can’t depend on Tye Hill for anything yet. I think it all comes down to how well Spags and co. can motivate and coach what “D” players we’ve got. Surely, they can get these guys to allow fewer than 29 points per game this year. As far as scoring 42 points, or 6 TD’s, last year we averaged 14.5 points per game on offense. Maybe Boller, Jax, Brown, Smith, Avery, Burton and McMichael can help the offense score more points in 2009.

I also think Colbert is wrong about the 2022 Super Bowl...
the STL Sharks will knock off the LA Patriots 26-24 in that one. And Bellicheat never gets that 4th ring….

Colbert is a funny guy
And while I love his pick, it won’t happen.
Welcome to Baseball Heaven.
