Tebow

With the hype machine that surrounds him, I don’t think there’s anyway he’s going to get drafted. I think the guy could be the ultimate wildcat quarterback, and I’d take him in the fourth round in the earliest. But I will be there’s a team that selects him in the first or second round.

Regarding Bryant, I love the pick. He’s big, doesn’t drop many balls and has great jumping ability. He would instantly improve the Rams offense, and I agree with 3k’s premise that it would be hard for Bulger to fail with SJ, Avery, Bryant and Burton surrounding him.

I also agree that the Cardinals have the inside track to win the NFC West, mostly be default. Outside of the Crabtree pick, I don’t think the Niners did much to improve their team, and Shaun Hill is going to be their starting QB going into the season. Still, I see them finishing second in the division, with the Rams third and the seahawks in last.

Great show today guys.

No callers? In the post-draft episode?!

You guys are killing me.

Sorry dude.

I was listening whilst making dinner.

Great show, btw. Loved the talk about next years draft.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky and I went horseback riding, but there weren't any horses around? Anyway, Brasky throws a saddle on my back and rides me around Wyoming for three days. Well, wouldn't ya know it, my stamina increased with each day, and I develop tremendous leg muscles. So anyway, Brasky decides to enter me into the Breeders Cup under the name Turkish Delight. And Im running in second place, and I'm running, and I break my ankle. So anyway, they're about to shoot me. Then someone from the crowd yells out, God bless him, Dont shoot him, he's a human.

BTW

The fact that I somehow missed the Maurice Morris to Detroit move is very embarassing. I apologize to the community for my failure.

Now I remember why I was going to call in late in the show

but got busy with dinner and forgot.

Weren’t you supposed to do some impression, 3k? I just looked through the fanposts since I can’t remember who it was you said you’d be doing, but I know i read it somewhere.

Curry Debate

The only reason I really really wanted Curry was because I didn’t think Laurinatis or Maualuga was going to be available in the 2nd. I wanted the Smith/MLB combo more than I wanted a Curry/Britton or Beatty combo.

I believe I heard someone say they would love to have Jay Cutler as our QB

He was literally sitting in our laps, and we missed out.
If I remember correctly, the Rams had the 11th pick in the 2006 draft. We traded down to the 14th and gave the Broncos our 11th pick. The Broncos drafted Jay Cutler with that pick. So, we could either have Jay Cutler or Tye Hill. Jay Cutler has been a beast, and Hill has been a bust.
I thought we should have taken Cutler then, and I definitely think we should have now. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20, and in hindsight, I can make better decisions than our old management.
I think I got all the pick number right.

JoeyBombs doesn't watch the Rams

You thought that we should have taken Jay Cutler when we had Marc Bulger at the top of his game? We probably didn’t even work out a QB. Remind me never to ask you for football advice. If anything we should have drafted Ngata if we kept the 11th pick.

by heinzketchup on May 3, 2009 10:56 PM CDT up reply actions

Well I am not very old and wasn't really the smartest football fan then.

I didn’t pay attention to team needs or anything, I just knew I liked Jay Cutler and I knew he was good.
I admit it may not have been the most logical pick, but I didn’t know any better then, because the only players I knew were skill positions. But still, it would have been a better pick than Hill. Then we could have traded Bulger for a CB or let Cutler wait behind Bulger until he faded (that would have been nice to have Cutler ready to step in as soon a Bulger started sucking.

by JoeyBombs on May 3, 2009 11:53 PM CDT up reply actions

Ya

I see your point, but that’s not how football works. Teams don’t spend 40-50 million/6 years on a backup QB to “wait” when you have a 29 year old QB who is ready to take over the team. And you don’t trade a QB who threw for 2300 yards in 8 games with 14 TDs. This is not Madden.

If I hear the term "putting a stamp on this franchise" one more time

I swear I will asphyxiate myself. Also who’s doing the radio show? Some high school freshman.

Important things from the Radio

I guess the most important factor is that regardless of what our record is next year, the most important thing is seeing players improve. I guess I want to see Tye Hill not be as big of a bust as everyone thinks he is, Laurinatis become a solid starter, our OL not give up so many sacks, our front 7 not give up so many big runs, etc. I think you guys should do a wishlist for the 2009 season, a realistic one of course. I just realized that the Bengals selected the 2nd OT and also the 2nd MLB. I say in a few years, if they turn out to be better than our top 2 picks, then we have failed this draft.

by heinzketchup on May 4, 2009 11:42 AM CDT reply actions

They also got....

the DE I wanted for our 3rd pick in Michael Johnson. I need to get over the draft picks though. Believe me, it’s not easy

tebow

by the end of this NCAA season, tebow will be a football god. top five pick, but not the first qb taken. sam bradford would look GREAT in a rams uni

by tripledouble_1 on May 4, 2009 6:40 PM CDT reply actions

a top 5 pick?

To who? And expected to play what position? He’s not good at throwing footballs to receivers; most pundits would agree that is an important quality for quarterbacks to possess.
