New coach Steve Spagnuolo has made no secret of the fact he plans to build the team around Jackson. He probably is the best all-purpose back in the league, a candidate to lead the league in carries and yardage in '09.
The Sporting News ranks Steven Jackson as the second best RB in the league, behind Adrian Peterson.

Interesting rankings
Hard to argue Action Jackson (still time to vote…) at #2. Some very debatable choices after, though.

i agree
jakson is a great RB but we need him to stay healthy. because i dont have much faith in our RB depth or our passing game. i like our line and i think bulger will be better this year but look at the eagles mcnab is good but when westbrook goes down he struggles because he has no true #1 WR.

PLEASE... just don't pull a Haslett...
and play him 4 minutes left in the game when we are up by 17 points!

Building around Steven Jackson.
This sounds like a great plan if?
1. He doesn’t hold out.
2. If he decides he’s not L.T. and decides to practice.
3. If he doesn’t get hurt again this year.
Can we plan on him being healthy for 16 games? I am glad they got a Fullback to block for him. He is a horse and he should have no problem gaining 1600-1800 yards rushing and another 700 yards in receptions. I believe he can score 25 touchdowns this year, Im going to save this and see if my dreams come true or we have another dreadlock bust like Ricky Williams.
