2010 Draft Prospects
Now that this 2009 draft has been compeleted, and we are starting to build for the next few years it came to me that the 2010 draft is going to be VERY critical to our success. After seeing a few 2010 mock drafts(which are a joke right now) I saw a few names that got me interested. Looking at our needs for next year I saw these positions to fill: QB, top end WR, TE, T, DE, DT. Obviously there is more but I saw those to be the most glaring ones. I am asking in this post to see if anybody has information or has seen these guys play. Here are a few intriguing prospects
Sam Bradford
Carlos Dunlap(Who Florida fans are calling the next "freak")
Gerald McCoy
Taylor Mays
Dez Bryant
Brandon Spikes
Terrance Cody
Jevan Snead
Those are just a few that I saw. The most intriguing one that I like is Carlos Dunlap. From looking a few articles about him and seeing a few videos, the guy is sick. I would love to have him teamed up with Long. Although, drafting a QB might be too much of a need to pass up, especially in this draft. But if Dunlap comes out and has a huge year and shows a Mario Williams type player, i think we have to take him, but it really comes down to whether or not Bulger is good or not. Lets hear your guy's opinons

It's gonna be hard to draft these guys with 32 pick.
S-St. Louis, R-Rams, D-Dallas, M-Mavericks, A-Arizona, D-Diamondbacks.
You do realize that I was joking?
S-St. Louis, R-Rams, D-Dallas, M-Mavericks, A-Arizona, D-Diamondbacks.
Others to watch
DE- Greg Hardy from Ole Miss…
TE-Jermaine Gresham-TE-Okla.
S-Eric Berry-Tenn.
DE-George Selvie-DE-S. Florida
WR-Brandon LaFell-LSU
DE/OLB-Sergio Kindle-Texas
WR-Arrileous Benn-Illinois
DE/OLB- Brandon Lang- Troy
QB-Dan LeFevour-C. Michigan
I would love to have any of these guys plus the ones you included.. But we will only get 1 of the top guys.. maybe lucky and somebody falls into our laps in the 2nd round. But yes it depends on alot of factors.. What does Bulger have left in the tank, along with Little, and Pisa. What kind of year does Barron have, plus the kids at WR… Our top needs will be WR, QB, DE for sure and maybe OLB and tackle.. plus who we sign in free agency before the draft next year. If we can get 2 starters in FA and then 3 in the draft we will be well on our way..
Gotta build brick by brick..
Short comments on names
Jombari’s players
Sam Bradford (QB, Oklahoma) – Great fundamentals; perfect delivery. Has everything you look for in a college QB. If he develops a bit more arm strength, he will be a lock to go #1. If the Rams have a horrendous season, he makes sense here.
Carlos Dunlap (DE, Florida) – He is freakish. 290 pounds, and a rumored 4.6 40-yard time. Racked up 9 sacks in his sophomore season last year. He would be a perfect pick for the Rams to keep Chris Long at RDE.
Gerald McCoy (DT, Oklahoma) – A little light for a DT, but found supreme production. 6.5 sacks from a DT in the Big 12? He’s special.
Taylor Mays (S, USC) – Speaking of special, Mays (and a safety below from Uncfan’s guys) is one of the best safeties to come out of the college game in the last 25 years. He’s incredible. Doesn’t fit with a Ram team that boasts the Butler-Atogwe duo.
Dez Bryant (WR, Oklahoma St.) – I love Dez. 6’2, 215ish… he would be perfect here. Last year, in his sophomore season, Dez hauled in 87 catches for nearly 1500 yards. Watch him often.
Brandon Spikes (ILB, Florida) – Beastfreakman. A perfect ILB specimen for the NFL.
Terrance Cody – Remember I said Gerald McCoy is a bit light for a DT? That’s because he’s a full 100 pounds lighter than Cody. Would be a perfect complement to Adam Carriker. He has gone on record as saying he won’t declare early which would keep him at Alabama until the 2011 Draft.
Jevan Snead (QB, Ole Miss) – Great fundamentals as well. Best receiving option, Dexter McCluster, isn’t much, which says wonders about Snead productions versus a Bradford or McCoy.
Uncfan’s players
Greg Hardy (DE, Ole Miss) – Very talented, very injury prone. Buyer beware.
Jermaine Gresham (TE, Oklahoma) – Awesome receiving TE. Above average blocking TE. Will make a huge difference to any team who doesn’t have a young, productive TE.
Eric Berry (S, Tennessee) – Incredibly talent. Berry and Mays could both go in the top 10. Two safeties haven’t gone in the top 10 since the 2006 draft.
George Selvie (DE, South Florida) – Has to constantly go up against double teams. Is it possible he’s underrated?!
Brandon LaFell (WR, LSU) – Needs to work on his technique; if he improves in that area, he could be high to mid 1st.
I’m still working on my 2010 prospect posts and my 2010 mock draft.
Sergio Kindle (OLB, Texas) – Will have to bust out of Orakpo’s shadow. Would be a DE in a 4-3 NFL defense, but seems better to fit at a 3-4 OLB spot. Production is everything for him this year.
Arrelious Benn (WR, Illinois) – Could be the 1st WR off the board. Very, very talented. Plays in a crappy system and still produces. Get your DVRs ready, Rams fans…
Brandon Lang (DE, Troy) – Strange prospect. I haven’t seen nearly as much of him as everyone else (Troy needs to develop some tv ties), but the one game I saw of him (the LSU game in mid-November), he played too tall.
Dan LeFevour (QB, Central Michigan) – Love him. I think his team holds his stock back. That could change next offseason.

How did I put
that sentence in the middle? Sometimes, I’m really dumb. Others, just kind of dumb.

Good info on all… I realy like Benn from Illinois.. He would touch the ball every chance he could if I was the Off. Coord… He is electric and does damage every time he touches ball, problem is he doesn’t get it enough.. Texas, Oklahoma, and OK-St will be battling it out in the Big 12 and are loaded with talent..and watch Florida, LSU, and Ole Miss in the SEC they too have alot of pro prospects…
The reports I heard
said when Benn played against Iowa he couldn’t get loose from the CB we drafted in round 3 this year. If he can’t get away from press coverage, that would hurt his value. Illinois constantly says how great he is, but he seems pretty incosistent to me.
keep in mind
Benn was a sophomore and Fletcher was a senior. Certainly a mismatch in terms of experience.

Benn
Part of the problem is the offense he plays in… Juice Williams can be exciting but you never know what he is going to do.. But trust me he can do alot of things catch and run the ball… When I talk to Mizzou fans they say why don’t they use him like we do Maclin.. I’m not saying he is Maclin but he is a good player..
Dez Bryant is a Bad Ass
I say that even though the only game I have ever seen him in was last years Holiday Bowl vs Oregon. He was big strong and tough throughout that game – definitely a guy you want on the team.
However, QB is going to be top priority IMO so the real quest should be looking into who may be available in the 2nd rds and beyond to fit needs…
We need a pitcher...not a DL itcher!
By the way...

Ok.
Tebow? No, I really don’t think he’s a good fit at all. I’m sold on Bradford, without seeing next season, plus we’ll need a QB by then.
"Score some damn runs, or the baby pandas die"
Even the 2nd overall pick
probably won’t get Bradford, so in order to get him….. I hate to hope for the worst. I just hope I’m not as disappointed in our picks as I am this year I would have been happier with all OL, DL, and LBs this year. Those questions though addressed still represent the biggest needs, in my opinion due to age and contract concerns. And a lot of talent was left on the table. But, again, I have to get over it. I so hope I am wrong. Please let me be wrong. Please please.
Not sold on Bradford
He’s done most of his damage behind the best offensive line in college football – as a offensive line, they were actually bigger than most NFL lines (though clearly not as good). He routinely had all day to through with little or no pressure. He might still make a great QB, but there are definitely unanswered questions about him.
I’d much rather see us go after a Dez Bryant – guy is ridiculous and virtually unstoppable in college. Big guy who can go up and get the ball. Exactly the kind of #1 receiver that would make this receiving corps vey dangerous for years to come.
I think Bulger, even if he doesn’t regain his old form, can still be a QB we can win with for another 2-3 years if given a solid line, a strong running game, a run-first offense, and good receivers. We are well on our way to those criteria and Dez would really shore up the receivers (if we’re in a position to get him). Then we can go after a 2nd-3rd round QB to groom, or wait another year or two to draft our next guy.
Fair enough
But I wonder, if the WR corps looks good this season and Bulger looks horrible, how much does that affect your (and, to be fair, my) sense of urgency to fill the #1 WR spot instead of finding a young, franchise QB?

point taken
Clearly current perceptions can/will change based on what players are able to do this year. If the line is improved/league average and Jackson stays mostly healthy and productive and Bulger looks as lost as he has…. then I’ll be all for getting a new QB as an imperative move.
At this moment, however, I believe Bulger can still be good enough if he has a decent to good team around him… and a true #1 to go with our other young receivers could make this offense dangerous even if Bulger is just adequate.
